The Amazon Kindle app for PC is a highly popular way to read e-books on Windows. Most people are familiar with e-reader devices but Amazon has gone on to expand this service to other platforms.

Unfortunately, problems do arise with Kindle, be it on the e-reader device or the Windows app. One of the more common problems afflicting Kindle is the PC app not syncing across devices and platforms.

Syncing problems can cause purchased books to not appear on the app. This guide will show you how to fix this problem.

Why isn’t my Kindle syncing with my computer?

There are multiple reasons why Kindle fails to sync with the computer. First, there could be problems with the network. It may be unavailable or experiencing some downtime. It’s also possible your computer isn’t connected to the internet.

On top of that, the Whispersync feature may be turned off. If it’s not running, then the app will not sync. You should also make sure that you’re using the correct Amazon account on Kindle.

It may seem obvious at first, but if you buy a book with an account that’s different than your Kindle account, you won’t see the book.

How do I sync my Kindle app with my PC?

1. Restart computer and app

  1. The first thing that you should do is restart your computer. That will solve the vast majority of syncing problems.
  2. Another method that you can try out is closing Kindle on Task Manager.
  3. Click on the search bar and type in Task Manager.
  4. Click the entry that appears.
  5. In Task Manager, right-click Kindle and select End Task in the window that appears.
  6. Re-open Kindle and see if the problem has been solved.

2. Update the app

  1. Double-check if the book you want to read can be used on the Kindle app. Some can’t while others only work on the latest version of the app.
  2. In this case, you’ll have updated the app. Normally it updates automatically, but you can go to the Amazon Kindle page and update that way.
  3. Click Download for PC & Mac to obtain the files.
  4. Run the installation and it will update the app automatically.

3. Activate Whispersync

  1. Open the Kindle app and select Tools located at the top of the bar.
  2. Select Manage Your Content and Devices in the context menu that appears.
  3. Sign into your Amazon account if asked on the web browser.
  4. Select Preferences at the top bar.
  5. Scroll down until you see Device Synchronization (Whispersync Settings).
  6. Click the arrow on the far right side.
  7. You will a button for Whispersync Device Synchronization. Turn the feature on if it was off.
  8. Close the browser and return to the Kindle app. It should be synchronized at this point.

4. Deliver books directly

  1. Like before, click Tools in the Kindle app and select Manage Your Content and Devices.
  2. Click the Content tab if you aren’t already there.
  3. Select one of the books you want to send and click the Deliver to Device button.
  4. Select the KindlePC app that will receive the books and click Make Changes.

5. Redownload the book

  1. Start by right-clicking a book and selecting Remove From Device.
  2. Close the Kindle app and open it again.
  3. Right-click the book again and select Download.

How do I refresh my Kindle library?

In case you didn’t know, it is possible to refresh your Kindle library to bring up any books that may be missing. Considering this method to be the sixth method to fixing Kindle syncing problems.

It’s pretty easy to do. Simply click the circular arrows next to the Library section on the Kindle app; it’s that easy. Any missing books will appear on Kindle.
