Latest Windows 11 Update Leaves Classic Outlook Unusable for Many

outlook unusable

Recent Patch Tuesday updates continue to cause disruption for Windows 11 users, and email reliability now sits at the center of new complaints. We wrote about broken POP accounts, but it seems there are additional problems present.

As Neowin reports, Microsoft’s latest Windows 11 cumulative update for versions 25H2 and 24H2 has broken classic Outlook, leaving the app unstable or unusable for many users.

Classic Outlook freezes and fails after the latest update

Users affected by the Patch Tuesday rollout say classic Outlook now suffers from random hangs, frequent freezes, and serious usability problems. Some report that Outlook fails to open entirely, while others experience lost draft emails due to sudden lockups.

The issues appeared immediately after installing the most recent security updates for Windows 11, suggesting a direct link between the cumulative update and the Outlook failures. Several users describe the app as “completely unusable” in its current state.

Another Windows 11 update adds to post-Patch Tuesday problems

This Outlook bug joins a growing list of post-update issues tied to Windows 11 versions 25H2 and 24H2. Recent Patch Tuesday updates also triggered shutdown and hibernation problems, along with Azure Virtual Desktop connection failures, though Microsoft addressed those in an emergency update released earlier.

So far, Microsoft has not published official guidance or confirmed a fix for the classic Outlook issue. Historically, similar update-related bugs have resulted in follow-up patches or out-of-band updates.

Until Microsoft delivers a resolution, affected users can uninstall the latest cumulative update as a temporary workaround or wait for an official fix to restore Outlook functionality.
