You’re out of boosts is not exactly the type of message you want to see when you’re trying to prompt Microsoft Copilot for image generation but it happens when you’ve run out of them.
Boosts are not unlimited but they help cut down the response time from regular prompts. Because of this reason, each user is assigned a certain amount of boosts every 24 hours depending on a personal or work/school account.
Your boosts are likely to run out fast if you’re prompting high-resource queries that require high-quality images and are complex in nature.
What can I do if I run out of boosts on Microsoft Copilot?
1. Clear cache and cookies
- Launch the Microsoft Edge app on your computer. Further, click on the three dots on the top right side and select Settings.
- Now, select the Privacy, search, and services option on the left side panel menu,
- Further, navigate to the Clear browsing data section, and select the Choose what to clear option.
- Then, select All Time from the time range at the top, check the boxes next to Cookies and other site data, and the Cached images and files option. Then click on Clear now.
You can also clear cookies and cache if you’re using another browser but remember the boosts limitation applies across all browsers.
2. Sign up for the Microsoft reward program
- Go to the Microsoft login page where you need to enter your credentials.
- Next, click the Sign up for free button to join the Microsoft Rewards program.
- Now you should be able to complete some simple tasks and earn some rewards which you can later redeem to earn more boosts.
3. Upgrade to Microsoft Copilot Pro
- Go to Microsoft’s Copilot page.
- Click on Start free trial and you’ll get access to the Pro version for a month.
- Your boosts will be bumped to 100 per day from 15.
- If after a month you wish to continue, you can purchase the plan for $20.

Unfortunately, 15 boosts aren’t exactly enough especially if you have a lot of tasks at hand so to avoid running out so quickly, try to limit them to only high-priority tasks or refine your regular searches with more clear and concise prompts to minimize the need for boosts.
You’ll still be able to generate images on Microsoft Copilot even after you get the you’re out of boosts message but the only difference is they’ll be slower.
Similarly, if you’re on ChatGPT, you may also get a you’ve exceeded your current quota which simply means you can no longer generate prompts. Alternatively, you can switch to other AI image generators for similar results.
