Microsoft Edge already supports extensions on Android, including a built-in ad blocker, as well as uBlock Origin, UBlock Origin Lite, and others. Now, Microsoft appears to be adding extensions to the Edge browser on iOS as well. That makes Microsoft Edge on mobile the only browser app to support extensions.
According to a Reddit post, the latest beta build of Microsoft Edge for iOS has quietly added support for extensions, allowing users to install them. Currently, the extensions are hidden behind flags.
Here is how to install extensions in Microsoft Edge on iOS
- Launch Microsoft Edge Beta
- Visit edge://flags
- Find and enable “Edge iOS Web Extension” and “Edge iOS Web Extension Web UI”
- Restart Edge browser
Visit edge://extension to browse and install extensions. According to the Reddit thread, as of now, there are currently 13 extensions available, with Microsoft promising more to come soon.
As you might know, extension support on iOS is limited. However, Safari supports extensions via the App Store, while the Orion Browser claims full extension support.
