Edge Game Assist, Microsoft’s in-game browser, is now officially out of beta and available to all Windows 11 users. First announced in late 2024, this tool is built into the Game Bar and lets you browse the web without minimizing or tabbing out of your game.
Edge Game Assist streamlines web access while gaming
You just press Win + G, and the browser pops up inside your game. It’s not some stripped-down tool either—it’s a full Edge browser with support for tabs, extensions, history, and even Discord and Twitch shortcuts. It also detects what you’re playing and can suggest guides and tips.
Game Assist is especially useful for checking walkthroughs, updating a Discord status, or looking up item builds—all without leaving the game. You can even keep your gaming tabs separate from work or personal stuff, so you won’t accidentally switch to a spreadsheet while trying to find the next quest objective.
Game-aware, keyboard-friendly, and more to come
During testing, Microsoft added support for more than 80 games and features like “Paste Game Title,” which automatically drops the current game name into the search bar. It’s built for mouse and keyboard use right now, but Microsoft says controller improvements are on the way.
Edge Game Assist works with all PC games, but titles that are fully supported will offer extra perks like optimized layouts and faster load-ins. You can try it now by launching Game Bar and opening the Edge widget.
