Microsoft Edge on desktop has Wallet available, which securely stores passwords, addresses, and payment information from debit or credit cards, useful while shopping online. The wallet also supports virtual cards for improved security.
Microsoft defines Wallet in the Edge browser as below:
Shopping convenience meets data security with Wallet – one place to store your payment methods, passwords, and more. With Wallet, you can also add notes to your passwords, access your Microsoft Rewards or Cashback balances, or use virtual cards for even more security when you shop online. It all works seamlessly with the data you have already securely stored in Microsoft Edge.
Unfortunately, it seems Microsoft Edge on Android has the Wallet feature, for that matter, Mobile Wallet not available for some time, and the latest flag spotted by us suggests that Microsoft is looking to deprecate it on Android.
Mobile Wallet Deprecation On Android
When enabled, Mobile Wallet will be deprecated on Android.
This suggests that Microsoft Edge for Android won’t be getting Mobile Wallet. The chances are pretty slim after seeing this flag.
In fact, Microsoft has not officially announced Wallet for Android, and the edge://wallet page in Edge on Android goes nowhere, saying:
It looks like the webpage at edge://wallet might be having issues, or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
There you have it. If you have any hopes of Edge for Android getting wallet in future, they have been dashed by Microsoft with this.
Apart from Mobile wallet deprecation planned in Edge on Andorid, the destkop version of Microsoft Edge wants to open websites from your recent history when you launch Edge. Additionally, the company is bringing colored scrollbars to Edge browser to match with browser themes.
What’s your take on this? Do you use Microsoft Wallet in Edge browser on desktop? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
