Microsoft will enhance Edge with a new way to deploy and manage organizational passwords. According to a recent entry to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, the secure password deployment feature in the Edge management service helps administrators (admins) give encrypted shared passwords to a group of users.
This allows users to easily log into websites without seeing the actual passwords, reducing the chance of unauthorized access and making the organization more secure overall.
Here’s what the entry says:
The secure password deployment feature in the Edge management service enables admins to deploy encrypted shared passwords to a set of users, allowing them to log into websites seamlessly without ever seeing the actual passwords. This reduces the risk of unauthorized access and enhances the organization’s overall security posture.
The enhancement will be previewed this month, and in April, Microsoft plans to roll it out generally to all users.
The enhancement should make the case for Edge to become the preferred browser for organizations: it will be harder for phishing actors to hack corporate infrastructures.
Coupled with another recently released enhancement that makes the browser 40% faster, Microsoft Edge is now on par with Chrome in terms of performance.
