  4. While the SFC will scan for msdt.exe issues, follow the on-screen commands and kindly wait until the process is done.
  5. Lastly, if the following commands didn’t work, run the following commands one by one:
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
    DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

After both SFC and DISM scans are finished, check if the problem is still there.

3. Perform System Restore

  1. Hold down the Windows + R keys to open it, input this rstrui in the Run text box and click OK.

  4. Click the Next button and then click Finish to confirm your restore point. 

At this point, your computer will restart normally and boot up with a restored version of Windows, and the msdt.exe error should be handled.
