Microsoft has released Windows 11 Insider Experimental 26H1 Build 28120.2738 with multiple fixes, removal of WMIC and Dragy, but also confirmed a known issue that prevents PUBG from launching after installing this build due to comptability issue.
Windows 11 removes WMIC and Drag Tray while fixing system problems
Microsoft has removed Windows Management Instrumentation Command-line, or WMIC, from this release. The company says this follows its ongoing deprecation and removal of WMIC. Drag Tray is also being removed after Insider feedback. Microsoft says it continues exploring improvements and plans to share details about a future replacement. Not to forget, similar changes were rolled out with the Beta 26H1 Build 28020.2731.
Settings receives a targeted crash fix in this build. The previous flight could cause Settings to crash when users interacted with System > Notifications. Magnifier also gets a reliability fix. Microsoft has addressed an issue that prevented the accessibility tool from launching for some Insiders.
PUBG players should think twice before installing this build
Microsoft says a known compatibility issue affects PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. Insiders may be prevented from launching the game after installing Build 28120.2738. Microsoft has placed a safeguard around the issue to help avoid potential stability problems. The company says it is working with the game developer on a fix.
There is currently no confirmed resolution date in the release notes. Microsoft says additional details will be shared when information becomes available.
