If you’re working with tables, you probably encountered XLSX files before. Speaking of which, in today’s guide we’re going to show you how to open .XLSX files and view their contents.

How can I open .XLSX files?

1. Use Excel

  1. Open Excel.
  2. Click on File and choose Open.

  3. Select the directory where the XLSX file is stored.
  4. Select the file.

2. Use Excel online

  1. Navigate to the Excel Online page. If asked, log in with your Microsoft account.
  2. Click on Upload.

  3. Select the file from your PC.
  4. Once it’s uploaded, click it to open.

3. Use Google Sheets

  1. Visit the Google Sheets page and log in with your Google Account.
  2. Click on the Create new spreadsheet icon.

  3. Next, go to File and choose Import.

  4. Go to Upload, click Browse and select your XLSX file. Alternatively, just drag and drop it.

  5. Set Import location to Replace spreadsheet and click on Import data.

  6. After that, your XLSX file will open.

4. Use XLSX Viewer

  1. Navigate to the XLSX Viewer page.
  2. Drag and drop your file.

  3. Once the upload is done, click on View your spreadsheet button.

While many services can open an XLSX file online, remember to only use the ones you trust. If you don’t trust the service, then don’t upload any sensitive data to it.

What program opens .XLSX files?

Most office suites have tools that can open XLSX files. If you’re not using Excel, you can use LibreOffice Calc, WPS Office Spreadsheets, or Apache OpenOffice Calc to open these files.

How can I open a .XLSX file without Excel?

There are various software alternatives you can use, but if you don’t want to install additional software, you can use third-party viewers or Google Sheets to open an XLSX file online.
