PowerToys Dashboard is Finally Getting a Much-Needed Redesign

There's no timeline announced for the rollout

Microsoft is working on a major redesign of the PowerToys Dashboard, and it looks like a real upgrade. The proposed layout takes cues from the Windows 11 Settings app—cleaner, more structured, and easier to scan at a glance. It’s designed to handle the growing list of PowerToys tools without feeling cluttered.

With the new Dashboard, you’ll see a full list of modules with toggle switches, each linking directly to its settings page. Quick-launch buttons for commonly used tools will sit right at the top. A central shortcuts list is also included, so you won’t have to hunt for key combos anymore.

Microsoft plans to add helpful touches like a changelog link, an update button, and warnings for things like conflicting shortcuts. There’s even a search bar to help you find modules or settings instantly.

Right now, when you open the app, you’re greeted with a simple Dashboard that lists all the tools. While it works, many users feel it’s become too basic for such a feature-packed app. The growing complexity has outpaced the original layout.

Microsoft engineers have agreed. In a new pull request on GitHub, they said the Dashboard made sense when PowerToys had fewer tools. But now it needs more polish, more function, and a design that scales better. Developers are also pitching in. One suggestion is to implement a SplitView layout, so you can open module settings without leaving the main Dashboard.

There’s no confirmed release date yet, but with the June 2025 update on the horizon, a refresh might be just around the corner.
