PS4 Gets New System Update With Messaging & Usability Tweaks

Sony has quietly released a new firmware update for the PlayStation 4, which bumps the system software to version 13.50. The release comes alongside recent updates for both older and newer consoles, including the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 5 Pro that brought support for PSSR upscaling.

PS4 system update 13.50 focuses on small usability tweaks

According to Sony’s official release notes, the update only “improves the messages and usability on some screens.” There are no major features or visible changes highlighted this time, which may not come as a surprise given the console’s age.

To catch you up, PS4 first launched back in 2013, and at this stage, Sony appears to be focusing more on maintaining stability rather than introducing new features.

That being said, small tweaks like these still matter for users who continue to use the console for daily gaming purpose.

Let’s not forget that back in its prime, the PS4 played a crucial role in Sony’s comeback after a challenging PS3 era. The console went on to outsell its predecessor comfortably and introduced a mid-cycle refresh with the PS4 Pro.
