Unusual Rockstar Newswire Post Sparks New GTA 6 Update Speculation
Hardcore Grand Theft Auto fans are back to their detective work. A recent Rockstar Newswire update has the community convinced that a major GTA 6 announcement is just around the corner. While we are currently in a long drought of official news regarding the highly anticipated November release, a sudden change in how Rockstar handles its weekly updates has fueled a fresh wave of speculation.
There’s a break in the normal Rockstar Newswire schedule
Rockstar uses its Newswire blog to outline one single week of bonuses, challenges, and updates for free GTA Online. However, the latest post covering the GTA Online Community Series Showcase did something slightly different than usual. Instead of covering a single week, the developers dropped a massive update detailing three full weeks of content that runs from March 12 through April 1.
This is highly unusual for the studio’s standard communication rhythm. By packing almost a month of GTA Online news into a single post, fans believe Rockstar is deliberately clearing its promotional calendar, perhaps for GTA 6?.
Twitter accounts dedicated to tracking the game were quick to point out the change in schedule. The major theory is that the studio wants the upcoming weeks to be completely free of minor multiplayer updates so it can use the news cycle with an important update around the much-anticipated GTA 6 game.
But, don’t get your hopes up before Summer
While the latest Newswire post has sparked speculation, don’t get your hopes too high. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, previously confirmed that the official marketing campaign for GTA 6 is set to launch this summer. We are months away from that promised window. Reports also suggest the game is delayed to November this year.
It is entirely possible that Rockstar simply wanted to group the Community Series Showcase into one convenient post. The studio definitely has the bandwidth to manage news for both games simultaneously.
Even so, clearing the deck right before April certainly leaves a suspicious gap in their usual marketing timeline. For now, players will just have to wait and see if this scheduling quirk actually translates into the next official look at the game. Until then, enjoy GTA 5 to the fullest.
