Windows 11 Release Preview Update KB5074105 Expands Cross-Device Resume
Windows 11 Builds 26100.7701 and 26200.7701 are rolling out under update KB5074105 for systems on version 24H2 and the upcoming 25H2. The company says the update follows a gradual rollout model, so not every feature will appear at the same time for all Insiders.
Cross-device resume expands Windows 11 PC experiences
A key change in this update is the expanded Cross-Device Resume functionality. As you might remember, this feature got WNS integration in KB5072046, and Microsoft had plans to expand it with future updates.
Cross-Device Resume allows users to continue tasks started on an Android phone directly on their Windows PC. This includes resuming Spotify playback, continuing work in Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, and restoring active web browsing sessions.
Vivo Android phone users gain additional support, as browsing sessions from Vivo Browser can now continue seamlessly on a Windows PC. Microsoft is also extending Cross-Device Resume to more Android brands, including HONOR, OPPO, Samsung, Vivo, and Xiaomi. For these devices, files opened in the Microsoft Copilot mobile app can continue on the PC, opening in the appropriate Microsoft 365 desktop app if installed, or in the default web browser when the desktop app is unavailable. Files stored offline on the phone remain unsupported, since the feature relies on online-accessible content.
Copilot+ PCs receive settings agent improvements
Copilot+ PCs also benefit from updates in this release. The Agent in Settings now supports more languages, expanding AI-assisted system management to a wider global audience. Newly added languages include German, Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Hindi, Italian, and Simplified Chinese.
This change aims to make it easier for users in more regions to interact with Windows settings using natural language and AI-driven guidance.
The KB5074105 update also improves Smart App Control, and it fixes the Start Menu and black screen issues.
In parallel with the Release Preview rollout, Microsoft has also released update KB5074169 to Insiders in the Beta Channel. Together, these updates highlight an ongoing push toward stronger cross-device continuity and broader Copilot integration as Windows 11 continues to evolve.
