Latest Microsoft Access Version Fixes Monaco Editor and Datasheet Bugs
Microsoft has released a new update for Microsoft Access, which addresses several bugs related to the Monaco SQL editor and datasheet behavior. Version 2602, Build 19725.20126, focuses on quality-of-life fixes rather than new features. However, for developers and database administrators, the changes are likely important.
Monaco SQL editor formatting bug resolved
One of the key fixes addresses unwanted autoformatting in the Monaco query editor. Previously, passthrough queries were automatically reformatted, including added whitespace or altered capitalization.
Because passthrough queries are sent directly to a server’s SQL engine without interpretation by Access, even small formatting changes could break server-specific syntax. With this update, autoformatting is now disabled for passthrough queries, preserving the original SQL exactly as written.
Microsoft also corrected a font size mismatch in the Monaco editor. An incorrect unit conversion caused the query text to appear slightly larger than the font size configured in Microsoft Access settings. The update fixes the conversion so the editor now reflects the selected font size accurately.
Datasheet selection behavior corrected
The update also resolves a visual bug in the Datasheet view. Previously, users could drag a selection beyond the last column into an empty area. When releasing the mouse, the selection highlight would remain visible outside the actual table boundaries.
Moreover, Access now properly limits selections to existing columns and removes any over-extended highlight. Speaking of Office apps, Outlook will also get a feature that uses Copilot to eliminate meeting conflicts, helping streamline scheduling across the board.
