Nintendo Switch 2 Officially Hits $499.99 in the US

Nintendo Switch 2 now costs $499.99 in the United States after Nintendo’s previously announced price increase took effect on September 1, 2026.

The console originally launched at $449.99, meaning the new price represents an increase of about 11.1%. VideoCardz reports that the updated $499.99 price is now official.

Nintendo announced the $50 Switch 2 price increase in May, giving buyers several months of notice before the higher pricing took effect.

Switch 2 price also increases in Europe

Nintendo has also raised Switch 2 pricing across several European markets, including the UK and Ireland.

On the My Nintendo Store, the standard Switch 2 price increased from €469.99 to €499.99.

The changes form part of a broader pricing adjustment affecting multiple markets rather than a US-only increase.

Nintendo blames changing market conditions

Nintendo attributed the higher Switch 2 pricing to “various changes in market conditions.”

The company also said it expects those conditions to continue over the medium to long term. Nintendo did not provide a detailed breakdown showing which manufacturing, supply chain, tariff, currency, or other costs contributed to the increase.

Switch 2 bundles are getting more expensive

Nintendo has also adjusted upcoming Switch 2 bundle pricing to reflect the higher base price of the console.

• Mario Kart World bundle: $549.99
• Nintendo Switch Sports Resort bundle: $529.99
• Standard Nintendo Switch 2: $499.99

The higher prices arrive while Switch 2 continues to sell strongly. Nintendo recently reported that the Switch 2 has passed 23 million units sold.

Nintendo has also seen more customers move toward downloads, with 61.5% of its software sales now digital.
