Apple Reportedly Developing AI Pin Wearable With Cameras and Microphones

According to The Information, Apple is developing its own AI-powered wearable device, signaling a push toward always-on, ambient artificial intelligence. This move follows recent reports that Apple plans to turn Siri into a chatbot-like assistant, potentially powered by Gemini.

Apple is reportedly exploring an AI pin-style wearable

The report claims Apple’s experimental device takes the form of a pin-style wearable that users attach to clothing. Engineers reportedly designed it as a thin, flat, circular disc with an aluminum-and-glass shell. Internally, teams aim to match the footprint of an AirTag, with only a slightly thicker profile.

The device would include two cameras, one standard lens and one wide-angle. There are also three microphones to capture the environmental context. Apple also plans to add a physical button, an integrated speaker, and a Fitbit-style charging strip on the back, suggesting quick recharging and lightweight daily use.

If Apple moves forward, industry speculation points to a possible launch around 2027. The concept highlights Apple’s interest in AI that works continuously in the background, rather than relying on a phone or smartwatch screen.

Such a wearable could handle voice queries, contextual awareness, and real-time assistance without constant user interaction. This strategy aligns with Apple’s broader effort to make AI feel more natural and seamlessly integrated into daily life.

Apple’s reported project arrives as competitors race to define the future of AI hardware. OpenAI continues work on its own dedicated AI device, expected to debut later this year. The growing focus on standalone AI wearables suggests a shift away from traditional app-based experiences.

For now, Apple has not confirmed the device, and development plans may change. Still, the report underscores how seriously the company now takes AI hardware as part of its long-term strategy.
