The atioglxx.dll file, developed by AMD for the OpenGL Driver, is used by several games and apps to perform graphics rendering. When the DLL is corrupted, it may crash when you launch the application that relies on it.

Problems with atioglxx.dll usually arise when the DLL is deleted by mistake, corrupted after repeated operations, or there’s an issue with the AMD graphics driver.

Before you proceed to the solutions, restart the PC, install all pending updates for Windows and the affected software, and disable any active third-party antivirus.

How can I fix the atioglxx.dll crash in Windows?

1. Manually add/replace atioglxx.dll

The quickest fix for an atioglxx.dll crash due to a missing or corrupted DLL is to manually add (if missing) or replace (if corrupted) the file. As for its location, atioglxx.dll is stored under a sub-folder in the following path: C:\AMD\AMD-Software-Installer\Packages\Drivers\Display

So, on a different PC running the same Windows iteration and architecture, go to the location that stores atioglxx.dll > copy the DLL to an external USB drive > plug the flash drive into the affected PC > move the file to the same location > restart the PC to apply the changes.

For some, moving atioglxx.dll to the program’s directory, the folder storing the program launcher (.exe file), also helped fix things!

If there’s a bug in the installed driver version that’s triggering the atioglxx.dll crash and errors, updating the AMD graphics driver will do the trick.

Some applications and games that use atioglxx.dll add it to the PC during installation. And if the DLL is not found, the installation may have been unsuccessful. So, reinstalling the app will help!

In case a quick app removal doesn’t work, it’s likely that leftover files from the previous installation are conflicting with the current one. Here, I recommend using a top-rated software uninstaller for Windows to wipe all traces of the app.
