Bluetooth File Transfer, or BlueFTP, is a tool that allows you to browse, explore, transfer and manage the files of any Bluetooth ready device using File Transfer Profile (FTP), Object Push Profile (OPP) and Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP). Thanks to these protocols, you can receive files, send applications, and share contacts from a Bluetooth ready device.

BlueFTP supports double screen file management and a drag and drop feature between managers. File manangement features include file transfer, file explorer, file browser, file management, and file handler.

The app recently received important updates:

  • Additional file systems: removable devices, contacts, images, music and video.
  • Improved Bluetooth device selection screen
  • File drop from system desktop;
  • Fixed Drag&Drop menu bugs for better accuracy
  • Fixes for minor bugs.

Users who already used the app on other platforms are satisfied with the way BlueFTP works on Windows 10:

Very good app. Was on my java phone, symbian and now on my windows. You never disappoint. Keep up the good work!

Was one of the few apps I missed, as usual better than on other platforms.

This is a great addition seeing as Microsoft will upgrade its Bluetooth performance in the upcoming Windows 10 Anniversary Update. Users in the past have reported issues in the Bluetooth stack, especially Microsoft Band users who complained that this feature wasn’t working properly.

Thanks to the upcoming improvements, companies will be able to pre-pair Bluetooth styluses when they are shipped. This update will be very useful for Surface owners as Bluetooth devices such as pens will easily pair with supported machines before shipping.

When it comes to using Bluetooth devices, the most frequent error encountered is not being able to find the requested Bluetooth device. Should you encounter this issue on your Windows 10 PC, check out our fix article.

You can download the Bluetooth File Transfer app from the Microsoft Store.
