call of duty updates too big

A lot of users have been complaining that the Call of Duty updates are too big for their systems. In a Reddit thread, a lot of users said that tried to download the latest Call of Duty updates only to find themselves with a much larger file on their shoulders. And computers.

Call of Duty updates are known for being big files, but this time, even veteran players were taken by surprise. It seems that instead of the regular 32GB, which is a lot, the download ended up being around 136 GB, which is way too much for their storage drives.

Needless to say, a lot of users were and still are confused about it. Some of them even got a 140 GB download, so it is definitely a bug. But why does it happen?

Why is the Call of Duty update so big?

Many users tried to find an answer and some of them even know why, It’s a download bug, after all. But it ends up affecting the systems, and their capacity to store any more files.

It’s a bug that happens. I’ve had it do that before something messes up, and it decides it needs to redownload the entire game. It’s happened to me on multiple games, I think something gets corrupt and that’s how it fixes it.

So it seems, every time one of the game’s files gets corrupted, the app decides that the only way it can repair the game is by downloading it again, in its entirety. According to some users, the bug doesn’t happen only once, but every time it encounters a corrupt file.call of duty updates too big

So players end up having to wait for a whole download, which is, as you can see, very big. Some users even tried to uninstall the game, properly, and install it again. But it was in vain, as the bug happened all over again.

While there is not a definitive answer on why that happens, it seems that installing it in another hard drive did the trick of fixing it.

So far, neither Xbox nor Microsoft released anything related to the bug, as it might be considered an official bug. The game does a full download all over again if encounters a corrupted file. So that it repairs itself. You just have to wait in between.
