DDR5 Prices Bounces Back Hard in Germany After Brief Cooldown

DDR5 prices looked like they were finally cooling down last month, but that window didn’t last long. New retail data coming out of Germany now shows that memory prices have bounced right back, wiping out hopes of a steady decline. Adding to that concern, a new report from Nikkei Asia suggests that memory crunch may last years as supply is only expected to meet only 60 percent demand by 2027.

DDR5 prices jump back in Germany after brief dip

According to prices tracked by 3DCenter, average DDR5 kit prices are now sitting at roughly 410 percent of July 2025 levels. That is a sharp rebound after March briefly broke the upward streak. The peak still sits around early 2026, when prices reportedly climbed as high as 410 percent. March brought that down slightly, but April data suggests the market has already reversed course.

Looking closer, not every kit moved the same way. Some lower-capacity modules saw minor adjustments, but higher-end kits, especially 48GB DDR5-6400 variants, recorded some of the biggest increases. That lines up with demand patterns, where larger capacities are seeing stronger pressure.

The numbers come from multiple German retailers, which gives a fairly reliable look of how pricing is behaving at the retail level. While this is region-specific, similar patterns have been observed across North America and other markets as well.

What stands out is the lack of stability. Prices are not just high, they are moving unpredictably, making it harder to expect any consistent drop in the near term. Speaking of expectations, earlier assumptions pointed toward gradual normalization later this year. That now looks less certain, especially with ongoing demand pressures linked to AI and data center expansion.

For now, it appears DDR5 pricing is settling into a higher baseline rather than trending downward.
