Dev Error 841: How to Fix This Modern Warfare Error

Remember, beta testing stages are known to be unstable, with error codes popping up at different stages or through the entire game. Besides, many face performance issues. But as far as this situation is concerned, it’s a minor error code.

What is Dev Error 841?

This is a server-side error encountered when players are in the middle of a multiplayer game. The game pauses for a second, only to return to the main menu.

Since it’s an online game, issues are bound to appear due to network problems, both at the user’s end and the game’s. The Dev Error 841 is encountered on all devices, including the PC, Xbox consoles, and PlayStation.

How do I fix Dev Error 841 in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare?

Before we start with the slightly complex changes, try these quick tricks:

• Check for any available game updates and install them to fix Dev Error 841 in MW3. Since it’s widespread, the developers will soon release a patch for it.
• Switch to another network. If connected wirelessly, go with a wired connection to eliminate any network issues.

2. Try less problematic modes

The error is frequently encountered in the Ground War game mode. While there is no official statement for it, the only logical explanation seems to be the popularity of the mode and the higher number of users entering a multiplayer match.

So, you could try the other game modes on Modern Warfare 3, be it on a PC or a gaming console.

3. Perform a network reset

1. Press Windows + I to open Settings, go to Network & Internet from the navigation pane, and click on Advanced network settings.
2. Click Network reset under More settings.
3. Click the Reset now button.
4. Finally, click Yes in the confirmation prompt.
5. Once done, restart the computer and check for improvements.

4. Reinstall the game 

1. Press Windows + R to open Run, type appwiz.cpl in the text field, and hit Enter.
2. Locate Modern Warfare 3 from the list of applications, select it, and click on Uninstall.
