How to fix Escape from Tarkov error 201

Error 201 in Escape from Tarkov typically occurs due to server connection issues, account authentication problems, or firewall interference. So, the first thing to do is to check the Tarkov status page and see if there are any problems with the service. Of course, check your local connection as well and restart your router to refresh it.

How do I fix the Tarkov error 201?

1. Restart your game and launcher

A simple restart can refresh the connection and fix temporary glitches. Close Escape from Tarkov and Battlestate Games Launcher.

Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and end any eft.exe or BsgLauncher.exe processes, then, relaunch the game and check if the error is gone.

2. Log out and back into your account

Authentication issues can cause Error 201. So, after you open the Battlestate Games Launcher, click on your profile name (top-right corner) and select Log out.

Enter your credentials and log back in, then try launching the game again.

3. Disable VPN and proxy servers

  1. Press Win + R, type inetcpl.cpl, and hit Enter.
  2. Go to the Connections tab and click on LAN settings.
  3. Uncheck Use a proxy server for your LAN.
  4. Click OK and restart your PC.

Some VPNs or proxy settings can interfere with Tarkov’s authentication process. Open the VPN and turn it off, or follow the instructions above.

4. Add Tarkov as an Exception in Windows Firewall and Antivirus

  1. Press Win + S, type Windows Security, and open it.
  2. Go to Firewall & network protection > Allow an app through firewall.
  3. Click Change settings > Allow another app.
  4. Browse to the Tarkov installation folder and add EscapeFromTarkov.exe and BsgLauncher.exe.
  5. Click OK and restart the game.
  6. If you use a third-party antivirus, temporarily disable it and check if the error persists.

Another solution is to right-click the game’s executable and select Run as Administrator.

5. Reinstall the Battlestate Games Launcher

  1. Press Win + R, type appwiz.cpl, and hit Enter.
  2. Find Battlestate Games Launcher, right-click, and select Uninstall.
  3. Download the latest version from the official Escape from Tarkov website.
  4. Reinstall the launcher and log in.

Following these steps should resolve Escape from Tarkov Error 201 and allow you to reconnect to the game. If the issue persists, waiting for server stability or reaching out to Tarkov support is your best option.
