Play Button Not Working in Jagex Launcher: 3 Ways to Fix it

If the Play button is not working in Jagex Launcher, you won’t be able to play RuneScape at all. This can be a big problem, but there are a few ways to fix this issue.

What can I do if the Play button is not working in Jagex Launcher?

1. Close additional Jagex Launcher processes

1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
2. Next, look at the list of running processes.
3. If you notice two or more Jagex Launcher processes, select them and click on End task.
   
4. Once you have only one Jagex process running, try to start the game again.

To prevent this issue in the future, some users are suggesting always closing the Launcher using the Task Manager.

2. Make sure the launcher isn’t running as an administrator

1. Locate the Jagex Launcher shortcut, right-click it and choose Properties.
   
2. Navigate to the Compatibility tab and uncheck Run this program as an administrator.
   
3. Click on Apply and OK.
4. Start Jagex Launcher and check if the issue is resolved.

3. Reinstall the affected game

1. Open Jagex Launcher.
2. Next, locate the game you have trouble starting.
3. Click the three dots next to the Play button and choose Uninstall.
4. Once removed, click the Install button to install it again.
   

Alternatively, you can reinstall RuneScape games from the Settings app just like any other application.

If the Play button is not working in Jagex Launcher, you won’t be able to play any games, but this is usually caused by multiple instances of the launcher running in the background, and once you close them, the issue will be gone.
