Microsoft Confirms AI Workflows Now Fully Live Worldwide in Teams
Microsoft Teams is getting another major update. After removing the option to quit Teams from the Taskbar, Microsoft has now completed the global rollout of AI Workflows inside the Teams Workflows app.
According to Neowin, the feature finished rolling out worldwide in mid-February and is now available to eligible users.
Copilot-powered automation is now live in Teams
AI Workflows rely on Microsoft 365 Copilot to automate recurring tasks directly within Teams. The new “scheduled prompts” feature allows users to trigger automated actions such as weekly project summaries, performance reports, and data monitoring without manual input.
The system works in the background and continuously interacts with organizational data to synthesize information and generate reports. Microsoft positions the feature as a way to reduce repetitive tasks and free employees for higher-priority work.
Scheduled prompts first appeared in preview in late 2025. Microsoft began the stable rollout in January, and the deployment has now completed globally.
How AI Workflows work and who can use them
Users can create workflows using a built-in template library available inside the Teams Workflows app. These templates simplify the setup process and help standardize automation across teams.
Access remains limited to organizations with an active Microsoft 365 Copilot license. In addition, tenant administrators must enable the Workflows app before users can take advantage of the feature.
Once enabled, scheduled prompts turn on by default. Admins can disable them through Cloud Policy settings if needed.
Microsoft advises organizations to review internal data governance and privacy policies before activating AI-driven workflows, since the feature interacts continuously with company data.
AI Workflows are currently available on Teams for Web and Mac. Microsoft has not confirmed a timeline for Windows or mobile support, but expansion to additional platforms remains likely.
This rollout follows several other recent Teams changes. Microsoft unlocked certain premium capabilities for enterprise users at no extra cost, while also removing some long-standing features.
The legacy calendar experience has been retired, and Microsoft Planner users have lost access to iCal Sync. These adjustments reflect Microsoft’s broader effort to modernize its collaboration stack while integrating more AI-powered functionality.
