Microsoft's CEO Satya Nadella resigns from the Starbucks board with immediate effect

Starbucks has recently mentioned the resignation of Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella from the company’s board. The company took to the recent SEC filing to inform Nadella’s immediately effective resignation.

Microsoft CEO didn’t mention the exact reason behind his resignation from the Starbucks board. However, he expressed confidence in the Seattle-based coffee giant’s CEO Laxman Narasimha, and the senior leaders of the company.

As you may know, Nadella joined the Starbucks board back in 2017. He joined the board when his ex-colleague Kevin Johnson was readying to take on the role of the company’s CEO. Then, Nadella was one of the vital figures on the board. He was not only expected to offer tech insights but also operations and distributions of Starbucks in the international market.

The Starbucks board now has a total of ten board members after Satya Nadella’s resignation. As per the SEC filing, Nadella addresses his resignation letter to Mellody Hobson and Jørgen Vig Knudstor. Not to forget they serve as Starbucks board chair and chair of the board’s Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee, respectively.

Dear Mellody and Jørgen,

I write to you today with a heart full of mixed emotions as I announce my retirement from the Starbucks Board of Directors effective immediately. It has been a profound privilege and an honor to serve this extraordinary company alongside such dedicated colleagues on the board for the past 7 years!

Throughout my tenure, I have witnessed the remarkable evolution of Starbucks, and I carry with me the pride of our collective achievements. As I step down, I want to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity to contribute and learn from all the ways Starbucks has grown, changed, and continued to thrive.

While I may be retiring from my role on the board, my belief in Starbucks’ mission and my support for our partners remain steadfast. I will continue to be one of the company’s biggest fans, cheering on from the sidelines as you propel Starbucks to even greater heights.
