Nioh 3 Launches Free PC Demo, Early Performance Exceeds Expectations
While players wait for several upcoming releases shown during Developer Direct 2026, there’s already something new to try. Nioh 3 has received a free demo on PC, giving players an early look at the next chapter in Team Ninja’s action RPG series.
As reported by PC Gamer, the Steam demo is now live and available to download at no cost. This move marks a notable change in approach for Team Ninja, which rarely offers pre-launch demos for major releases.
Nioh 3 demo PC performance looks promising
PC players had reasons to worry going in. Several previous Team Ninja PC ports launched with performance issues, including Rise of the Ronin and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Early impressions of the Nioh 3 demo, however, point to a much smoother experience.
According to player feedback, the demo runs surprisingly well even on older gaming laptops. Users report stable performance at 1080p on the lowest graphical settings, with far fewer technical problems than expected. Many describe the demo as far from a disaster, especially when compared to past launches from the studio.
For players who want to check hardware compatibility, the official system requirements are listed below.

The demo also represents a first for Team Ninja, since it gives players hands-on access well before launch. If you want an early feel for Nioh 3’s combat and PC optimization, the demo is worth trying.
Elsewhere in gaming, publishers continue to push toward multi-platform releases, and new reports suggest major Xbox titles may expand to additional consoles, shaping up an especially busy year for players. It has also been speculated that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is coming to Switch 2 later this year.
