Outlook Web People Hub Update Delayed to Late March

Microsoft has acknowledged ongoing issues in Outlook, including the invisible cursor bug in classic Outlook, while also confirming a delay for a major new feature.

According to Microsoft 365 Admin Center message ID MC1199768 and Roadmap ID 537282, the new People Hub experience in Outlook Web will not arrive as originally planned. The feature was expected to reach General Availability this month, with full rollout completed by mid-March.

Microsoft has now pushed the rollout window. The updated timeline shows deployment starting in late March and completing by the end of March.

What the New Outlook People Hub Brings

The redesigned People Hub introduces a modern, multi-column contacts layout aimed at improving visibility and navigation.

Microsoft is adding faster search performance and a cleaner, streamlined interface. Contacts will automatically appear in a unified view designed to reduce clutter and improve organization.

Contact cards will also display enriched organizational profile information when available. This professional data should make it easier for users to identify colleagues and business contacts quickly.

Old Contacts Toggle Will Be Removed

One notable change involves the removal of the toggle that allowed users to disable the “New Contacts” experience. Once the update goes live, users will no longer switch back to the legacy interface.

This change could disrupt workflows for users who prefer the previous layout.

The feature will be enabled by default and requires no admin action. Microsoft states that the update does not introduce compliance concerns, but recommends preparing users in advance. Organizations may want to update internal documentation and provide training before the rollout completes.

Meanwhile, Microsoft continues expanding its Microsoft 365 ecosystem. A refreshed Planner experience is rolling out, and SharePoint is set to receive a new AI-focused upgrade next month.
