4 ways to fix Printer Orange light blinking

Depending on the type of error and seriousness of the issue the led lights on your printer will start flashing or turn on with different colors. When the printer shows orange light blinking, it mostly means some issues with the printer cartridge, toner, or simply corrupted configuration settings as reported by the user in the Microsoft Community.

The orange light started flashing on my Canon 1850 and it will not print…I have tried everything SIGH SIGH !!!!!!
The burgundy and blue ink needs replacing, could that be the problem.

Follow the steps listed in this article to fix my printer blinking orange issue.

Why is my printer flashing orange?

1. Perform Power Reset

  1. Remove the Cartridges from the printer.
  2. Make sure the printer is turned on, and disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  3. Now unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  4. Remove any USB cable that is connected to the printer to any other device including computer.
  5. Leave the printer in the off state for a few minutes.
  6. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds to reset the settings.
  7. Now plug back the power cable to the wall outlet. Make sure you are connecting directly to the wall outlet without using any surge protector.
  8. Plug the other end to the printer.
  9. Turn on the printer if it doesn’t turn on automatically.
  10. Wait for the printer to become idle and warm-up. Now check if the Orange light is still blinking.

2. Check the Ink Cartridge for Fault

  1. If you haven’t changed the Ink Cartridge for a long time now, it may be the right time to have a look at them and check them for quality issues.
  2. If the Ink Cartridge has expired or depleted or at the verge of depleting it may create issues with the printer.
  3. Check if the Ink Cartridges are leaking.
  4. If under warranty, contact HP support and check if they can replace the cartridges with the new one.

3.  Uninstall  and Reinstall Printer Driver

  1. Press Windows Key + R to open Run.
  2. Type control and press OK.
  3. In the Control Panel, go to Hardware and Sound > Printers and Devices.

  4. Right-click on the problematic printer entries and select Remove Device.
  5. Press Windows Key + R to open Run.
  6. Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  7. In the Printer Server Properties window, open the Drivers tab.

  8. Now select all the entries for your printer and click on Remove > Remove Driver Only.
  9. Open “File Explore” navigate to C:>programdata>HP.
  10. Remove any printer related folder and files in the folder.
  11. Restart the computer.
  12. Download the HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software and reinstall the printer. Your
