Resident Evil Veronica Is Fully Third-Person, Capcom Confirms
Capcom has finally clarified one of the biggest questions related to the recently unvieled Resident Evil Veronica. Despite its reveal trailer featuring an extended first-person sequence, the upcoming remake will be a fully third-person experience.
First-Person trailer was apparently a deliberate misdirect
The confusion started during Summer Game Fest 2026 when Capcom unveiled Resident Evil Veronica, the long-awaited remake of Resident Evil Code: Veronica. Several scenes in the trailer appeared to be presented entirely from a first-person perspective, leading many fans to wonder whether the series was once again moving away from its modern over-the-shoulder formula.
That speculation has now been put to rest. As reported by GamesRadar, speaking during a media Q&A session, producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi confirmed that Resident Evil Veronica is a fully third-person game.
According to him, the first-person footage shown in the announcement trailer was intentionally used to create mystery and surprise around the reveal. He also suggested that the sequence may not even appear in the same form in the final release.
Resident Evil Veronica is scheduled to release in 2027 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom has not yet announced a specific release date.
