May updates for Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book include important camera tweaks

Microsoft  rolled out its May updates for both the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, mainly focusing on the camera by bringing the same upgrades to both devices. By comparison, the updates rolled out last month offered important performance and graphics improvements as well as better power management.

The list of updates for the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book includes:

  •  Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) AVStream Camera 2500
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) Control Logic
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Intel(R) CSI2 Host Controller
  • Intel driver update for Intel(R) Imaging Signal Processor 2500
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Microsoft Camera Front
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Microsoft Camera Rear
  • Intel Corporation driver update for Microsoft IR Camera Front
  • Surface Camera drivers set (v30.10586.7035.1976, 4/21/2016) improves Windows Hello stability.
  • Intel(R) AVStream Camera 2500 driver update (v30.10586.7035.1976)
  • Intel(R) Control Logic driver update (v30.10586.7035.1976)
  • Intel(R) CSI2 Host Controller driver update (v30.10586.7035.1976)
  • Intel(R) Imaging Signal Processor 2500 driver update (v30.10586.7035.1976)
  • Microsoft Camera Front driver update (v30.10586.7035.1976)
  • Microsoft Camera Rear driver update (v30.10586.7035.1976)

For some users, the updates take place automatically while others will have to manually select them. To check whether the updates have already been installed on your device, go to your update history. If the updates have not been downloaded, go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows update > Check for updates.

The Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book are one of the main money making engines for Microsoft. Surface revenue for Q3 increased by 61% in constant currency driven by the two devices, breaking the curse that had been haunting Microsoft for years in regards to Surface sales.
