Windows 10 comes with a lot of pre-installed default apps, and for one reason, or another, you might want to uninstall them. So, we’re going to show you how to uninstall Windows 10 default apps in this article. We’ll also show you how to reinstall them, in case you change your mind.

Once again, you probably don’t want to uninstall default Windows 10 apps, because they don’t take much disk space, and some of them could actually be useful. But if you already made your decision, just follow the steps below. Also, if you want to get back your default apps, you can do that with just one simple command.

Uninstall a single app from Start Menu

If you don’t want to uninstall all Windows 10 apps, you can remove some of them individually from Start Menu. Just open Start Menu, search for the app you want to uninstall, right-click on it and choose Uninstall. But you can’t do this trick with every Windows 10 apps, some essential apps like Microsoft Edge or Groove Music cannot be uninstalled from Start Menu (actually there’s no way to uninstall Microsoft Edge from Windows 10, so you’re forced to have it installed on your computer).

You can use this method to uninstall some Windows 10 apps you consider to be bloatware, as well.

Uninstall All Windows 10 Default Apps With PowerShell

You can use PowerShell tool to remove the apps that can’t even be removed from Start Menu. However, you can’t uninstall probably the most important feature of Windows 10, Cortana (and Edge, as said before). When you try to uninstall these apps with PowerShell, you’ll just get an error, which says that you can’t uninstall them.

To uninstall every other app, just go to Search, type PowerShell, right-click on it and choose Run as Administrator. Now just copy one or more of the following commands into PowerShell to remove a desired app/s:

  • Uninstall 3D Builder: Get-AppxPackage *3dbuilder* | Remove-AppxPackage
  • Uninstall Alarms and Clock: Get-AppxPackage *windowsalarms* | Remove-AppxPackage
  • Uninstall Calculator: Get-AppxPackage *windowscalculator* | Remove-AppxPackage
  • Uninstall Calendar and Mail: Get-AppxPackage *windowscommunicationsapps* | Remove-AppxPackage
  • Uninstall Camera: Get-AppxPackage *windowscamera* | Remove-AppxPackage
  • Uninstall Get Office: Get-AppxPackage *officehub* | Remove-AppxPackage
  • Uninstall Get Skype: Get-AppxPackage *skypeapp* | Remove-AppxPackage

How to Reinstall Windows 10 Default Apps

You can get all your uninstalled Windows 10 default apps back, just with a single PowerShell command. Just open PowerShell, as described above, enter the following command and press enter:

  • Get-AppxPackage -AllUsers| Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml”}

Executing this command will last for a while, but once it’s finished, you’ll get all your default apps back.
