How to fix error 87 ‘The parameter is incorrect’
If you encounter error 87 the parameter is incorrect on your computer, it could either be due to an attempted copy of a huge file from one partition to another, meaning the maximum size of the file that can be stored has been exceeded.
This error message also appears when a required service isn’t started on your computer such that you won’t connect to a network, and may not be able to install network adapters, thus services such as Plug and Play, Remote Access Auto Connection Manager, Remote Access Connection Manager and Telephony.
Error 87 can also happen when you try to copy files to a SharePoint server yet the file itself is restricted.
Another likely cause is hardware errors and/or disk or file errors that are corrupted (or whose data is corrupted).
There are different solutions to fix this issue based on your situation, but mostly checking if you can drag and drop to copy the data or changing devices by testing with different drives can help with this problem.
However, error 87 tends to be unspecific so you cannot really narrow it down to one solution, but here are some fixes you can try.
