Sometimes you might notice unusual DLL files on your PC, and one of them is buddha.dll. In today’s guide, we’re going to take a closer look at this file and see what it does.
What is buddha.dll?
Buddha.dll is a third-party DLL and it’s not a standard Windows system file. The file is often associated with software that is used to bypass the game’s license protection.
Is buddha.dll a virus?
Many users reported that buddha.dll was not found a message on their PC, and this happens because the antivirus software automatically detects this file as suspicious and removes it. What can you do if you encounter this file?
1. Scan it with your antivirus
- Right-click the file and choose Scan with Microsoft Defender.
- Wait for the scan to finish.
- If you’re using a third-party antivirus, the steps might be slightly different.
2. Use Virus Total
- Navigate to the Virus Total page.
- Next, click on Choose file and upload it.
- Look at the report.
- If the report has more than a few warnings, it means that the file is likely malicious.
While almost everything claims that this file is malicious, some users claim that the file is safe, as long as it comes from a reliable source.
This file isn’t part of Windows, and it usually comes with other applications to bypass copyright protection making it unsafe.
Since antivirus software and Virus Total label it as malicious, you’ll be better off removing this file and associated software from your PC.
This isn’t the only unusual file that you can encounter, and we wrote about OrangeEmu64.DLL and Libsndfile.dll in our previous articles, so don’t miss them for more information.
