Snipping Tool’s OCR capability will be enhanced to capture and copy texts from screenshots without having to actually take those screenshots.
Spotted by tech enthusiast @phantomofearth, Windows users can open the Snipping Tool’s screenshot area, select the text from that area, and copy it elsewhere.

Snipping Tool is getting a fullscreen OCR text extractor that’s essentially the PowerToys tool, inbox – making use of the better OCR models used by Snipping Tool! Here’s a demo.
According to the spotter, this new capability will also have a shortcut, making it very easy to use.
It was spotted in the Windows Insider Program, which means it should be generally available to all Windows 11 users within the next few months.
The Redmond-based tech giant has recently made the OCR capability available again on the Photos app after it was retired. This time, however, the company claims OCR is much more accurate.
