If not, do read this article once more and if this doesn’t solve your issues, we’ll try and help you further with the indications below. How to install Windows 8.1, Windows 10 without it being stuck and frozen

For most of the users, the Windows 8.1, Windows 10  install usually gets stuck and freezes in the following moments:

  • Windows 8.1, Windows 10 install stuck at 10%, 90%, 44%
  • Windows 8.1, Windows 10  install stuck at “getting system ready”
  • Windows 8.1, Windows 10  install stuck at Windows logo
  • Windows 8.1, Windows 10  install stuck at “please wait”
  • Windows 8.1, Windows 10  install stuck at black screen
  • Windows 8.1, Windows 10 install stuck at “getting devices ready”
  • Windows 8.1, Windows 10 install stuck at “setting up a few more things 3%”

Again, there are some basic things you need to do, that we have talked about before, but to refresh your memory, here they are:

  1. Install the final version of Windows 8.1, Windows 10 – yeah, right, you knew this since the very beginning, right? But, then again, if you know this is not a safe install, why did you proceed?
  2. Unplug all external devices – a very, very basic advice that might work for you, as I can assure you that it did work out for me. Unplug everything before the install actually starts.
  3. Just wait – now, we have to make something clear here: you don’t have to wait for an entire day. Usually, it takes less than 3 hours to do it.
  4. Update your BIOS – sometimes, even your BIOS might play tricks on you. Do update it before installing Windows 10, Windows 8.1

Also, don’t forget to check if your computer meets the system requirements necessary for installing the latest Windows version:

  • OS: Make sure you’re running the latest Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 version
  • CPU: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor or SoC.
  • RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) for 32-bit or 2 GB for 64-bit.
  • Hard disk space: 16 GB for 32-bit OS or 20 GB for 64-bit OS.
  • Graphics card: DirectX 9 or later with WDDM 1.0 driver.

Many users also report that their Windows 8.1, Windows 10 install stops at the boot screen. Also, some have reported that they can’t even press F2 or F12, the power button being the single remaining option. Another common symptom might be that your hard disk will start blinking on a very slow pace. Some of the forum moderators have suggested the following workaround:

If you are trying to install Windows 8.1, Windows 10 Preview via Windows Store, and the installation stops responding (either at “Pending”, or at 44%), please reattempt the installation after trying each of these troubleshooting steps:

1. At the Start screen, type wsreset and click the Search result. (It should have a Windows Store icon.)
2. Open a Command Prompt (Run as administrator), and type ipconfig /release and hit Enter. Then type ipconfig /renew and hit Enter.
3. Try a different network if you have another network available.
4. Try running the built-in Windows Update Troubleshooter.

Many folks have also reported having issues with installing Windows 8.1, Windows 10 on their Surface tablets, so this might mean it is a Windows Store related issue. I just built my computer today and have had several issue with booting it up. It now has 8.1 on it and I can boot it up, but it seems to stick on the settings part of the initial usage when you choose between default and custom settings. The mouse moves, sometimes I get the little loading disc, but it does not advance to the next page.

can anyone tell me my laptop comes with preloaded windows 8 along with backup drive(windows 8) but unfortunately i lost my original os (backup drive) which means at the time of formatting. Now at the time of installing windows 8 .1 pro from DVD it’s showing Setup is Starting……… That’s it it Stucks. No Screen change. Can anyone help me out. Can anyone mail me:

Also, now I can’t even use my home wifi what’s the deal with that?
I can’t even factory reset because of this.

Or better yet why don’t Windows offer these features. Firefox and Google Chrome are the only two Browsers that I know that offer the features that I want and need and I choose Firefox over Google Chrome.

Windows 8.1 shuts down Firefox Browser, which makes it easier for my family with disabilities to use the computer. How do I go back to Windows 8 so I can use Mazola Firefox.

I updated mine today.
I got a Dell Inspiron desktop computer.

When I try to start it up, it wont even load. It just shows the Dell logo and a thick empty box with a little blue at the beginning. Now you usually Think it Will come when the blue reaches the other side of the box, but no. It just freezes and I cant do anything. F8 or F12 doesnt work either. What am I gonna do??!

can some one please tell me how to remove windows 1.8 with our tacking everything off my computer I hate it and want it off

had some slight problem with windows8 and scanning but nothing compared to win.8.1–it is horrible-cannot scan at all now and cannot get rid of the headache either

I updated to 8.1 last week, and now I can’t burn any cd’s/dvd’s.
You can see the info burned onto the discs, but no dvd player. pc or laptop will play them.
I had no problems at all before the update, and can’t find any solutions online.
Any help would be appreciated.

i hate it! I want to remove it but I can’t, there is no restore point for me to go back to the regular windows 8. how do I get rid of this????????

Mine (x64 Pro) stuck at 3% (updating a few more things). Finally resolved by updating ESET and then the 8.1 installation proceeded uneventfully.

With the official new version of 8.1, I have had Windows 8.1 update hang twice at “Getting devices ready 88%”. This is with all of the devices on my brand-new Samsung all-in-one, disconnected. I have searched the Samsung website to no avail. It seems that Windows 8.1 has yet to solve incompatibilites with hardware. Well back to my Apple. Sigh!
