Wix is another popularly known website builder, all that annoying ads on YouTube aren’t for nothing after all! However, the working of Wix is similar to Weebly and offers an intuitive user interface.
You can begin for free by registering on the site. Proceed with selecting a template if you want to customize the site, if not let Wix ADI create your website.
There are several templates for every niche. The website page editor lets you customize every inch of the web page with easy to use drag and drop elements. You can add pages to the menus, change the background image, etc.
The Add button lets you add all kind of elements to the page from texts to image gallery and from box to contact form. Wix also has an app market to integrate third-party apps into the website.
The website can be customized by uploading your own images, vector arts, videos, fonts, and docs. It also has a schedule management tool to take the booking and accept payments.
The main toolbar consists of all the administrative options including settings to connected domains, mailbox, analytics and tracking, and social share, etc. For the nerd in you, it has a Code tab with developer tools function.
Click on Publish to get your website live. However, you need to add your custom domain or get a free subdomain from Wix before making the site live. The custom domain is available only on a premium plan, and also there will be a Wix add on the top of the web page if you choose the free plan with sub-domain.
If you want to continue using the free plan, the subdomain first uses your email ID as a prefix and then your preferred name as a suffix with wix.com in between.
The premium plan of Wix starts at $5 month and can go up to $25 a month and is billed annually for the discounted package. Wix is not the most affordable website builders, but for beginners or for people who don’t want to manage their own site, Wix is a good choice.
- Note: The premium plans on Wix are subjected to regions.
- Price – Free / Premium starts at $10.8
Site123 is the latest of the website builders lot and claims to offer the easiest website builder on the internet. Site123 offers a free limited plan and a premium plan. In fact, there more than two plans which make it look sketchy, even when it is not.
Moving on, the registration is free, and the free plans come with a subdomain with limited storage and features.
Begin with selecting the type of website you want to create like Business, Online store, Photography blog, etc, and there will be subcategories among those options as well.
Give your blog a name and finish the registration. The website builder layout is not the easiest of the lot but offers all the options nicely on the front page.
To customize anything on the website, simply double-click on the section, and the editing options will appear.
On the left side, Site123 has Homepage tab – to customize website name and logo, title and slogan, image design and layouts; Pages tab – to add or remove pages.
Design tab – to change website structure, styles, and fonts, header menu options, footer options, etc.
Settings tab – to change website type, search engine optimization, website languages and to add / remove plugins; Domain tab – to connect the custom domain to the website.
The Dashboard consists of Edit, Settings and Domain sections. The Settings section lets you manage sites status, website password, create 301 redirects, add contributors and transfer options.
You can create a new website by clicking on the add button. To view all the premium plans, click on the Upgrade button.
To make the site live you need to add a subdomain. Click the Domains tab in the dashboard and type your preferred subdomain. If you have a custom domain, you can add it but requires a premium pan.
Site123 seems to have got the “Ease of Use” keyword in website builder market right and is definitely easiest of the lot. The fact that it does offer a proper subdomain unlike Wix, I would suggest you create a free site to test and later upgrade to the premium plan based on your requirement.
If you are a business owner who is looking to list their services online or a hobbyist looking for an easy to create blog builder, these website building tools can help you create the website you want in an hour.
When compared to CMS and shared hosting platforms, these website builders may look slightly expensive, but for the features on offer, it is money well spent for the less tech-savvy users.
