Microsoft is adjusting its 2016 event schedule, here's what to expect

Microsoft’s event line-up for 2016 has made quite a stir yesterday with Microsoft Ignite being rescheduled and relocated, causing much uproar in the local community. The change does not stop there however, and we are going to take a closer look at how Microsoft is staggering its events for the upcoming year, detailed in an official blog post.
According to the statement, with the change in Ignite, Microsoft’s main event line-up for 2016 will be as follows:
- Build: Spring 2016 in San Francisco (no specific date was given)
- Convergence: April 4 – 7, 2016 in New Orleans
- Worldwide Partners Conference (WPC): July 10-14 in Toronto
- Microsoft Ignite: September 26-30, 2016 in Atlanta
Along with the main happenings, there will also a Convergence EMEA set in Barcelona on November 30 – December 2, as well as a Microsoft Cloud Roadshows. Noticeable is the absence of WinHEC, Microsoft’s Windows hardware engineering conference in China, held in March this year for the first time in 7 years.
The rest of the events have been kept quite consistent with 2015’s schedule, which saw Microsoft increasingly moving away from making big announcement in general industry events to orchestrate its own, as well as combining several smaller events into a comprehensive, bigger one (Ignite being a prime example.) The schedule is expected to be relatively consistent for years to come.
