Microsoft is reportedly planning to make significant changes to Outlook.com in the coming months. According to a new report from The Verge, the software giant will apparently migrate all Outlook.com users to Office 365 later this year, and offer users with a user interface and feature set of the Outlook Web App.
Microsoft didn’t make significant changes to Outlook lately, but the company aims to allow developers to create apps and add-ins for the service, making it easier for users to access multiple service from a single place.
As for the reason for the merger, The Verge states, “The primary reason for the migration is to ensure Microsoft’s Outlook, Exchange, and Office 365 platforms are aligned, and that means adding the consumer Outlook.com service into this mix to keep everything consistent.”
It would be interesting to see how Microsoft plans to take care of this. However, it’s not official yet so we’d recommend you take it with a pinch of salt. We’ll wait for the company to officially reveal details about this rumor.
