If you’ve watched a Windows “Developer Days” webcast in recent years, you know who Kevin Gallo is. As the face of the popular webcasts touting the latest developer tools and services for building on top of Windows, Gallo is familiar to the developer community, and in a LinkedIn post today he’s announced that he’s leaving after 30 years:

After nearly 30 years working for Microsoft, I made the tough decision this past week to take some time away from my desk at Microsoft. It has been such a great honor and privilege to work with so many amazing people – where together we have invented the technology that everyone uses in their daily lives.  Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that I could be a part of this all. We’ve made some wonderful products and platforms together – and worked with so many great customers, partners, and developers.  I am so proud of all that we have accomplished. I just sat and stared at some of my Ship It awards – amazed at just how many teams I have been blessed to be a part of – who built products that seemed impossible to create when we started.  Together, we gritted it out, and made something our customers loved.

Whether this move is related to Microsoft’s recent layoffs announcements or not, it’s been a bit of an end of an era to see so many familiar faces move on, and Gallo probably won’t be the last. We wish Kevin all the best (and apologize for the 2016 image!).
