KB5044380

Microsoft has begun rolling out the Windows 11 non-security updates under KB5044380. These include Windows 11 Enterprise and Education version 22H2 and all editions of Windows 11 version 23H2 (builds 22621.4391 and 22631.4391).

For instance, with KB5044380, Microsoft is introducing the ability to stop Windows 11 from suggesting you turn off notifications from specific apps. It also adds a new keyboard layout for the on-screen keyboard designed for gamepads.

Microsoft says it’s adding “button accelerators” with KB5044380, allowing you to use the “X” button on your gamepad as a backspace and the “Y” button as a spacebar. The company has also changed the “All apps” view in the Start Menu, Microsoft Edge favorites, and more.

With KB5044380, Windows 11 will no longer drain so much battery energy while the device is on Modern Standby.

The update is available now through Windows Update. If you don’t see it immediately, it could be because KB5044380 is part of a gradual rollout.

You can read the whole changelog here.

It’s worth noting that you might as well stay on Windows 11 23H2 until the 24H2 version becomes more stable because it’s quite buggy for now.
