The iggy_w64.dll file is associated with games downloaded from Steam, and when the DLL is missing, not found, corrupted, or contains an error, the game fails to launch. The error message reads, The program can’t start because iggy_w64.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.
This happens when iggy_w64.dll is not stored in the correct path, your antivirus is blocking the app’s access to the DLL, or the game installation didn’t go through successfully.
Before you proceed to the solutions, restart the PC, install all pending Windows and game updates, and disable any unreliable third-party antivirus that is actively running.
How can I download iggy_w64.dll if it’s not found?
1. Add or replace iggy_w64.dll
When you get the iggy_w64.dll was not found error, your primary approach should be to verify whether the DLL is missing or corrupted. If it’s missing, add a new copy in the dedicated path, and if the DLL is corrupted, replace it.
As for the storage path, the iggy_w64.dll location is the Bin folder in the game’s directory. For instance, for Divinity Original Sin 2, the path is: steamapps\common\Divinity Original Sin 2\bin\iggy_w64.dll
If unsure about the storage path, check the error logs in Windows.
Now, go to another PC running the same Windows iteration and architecture (32-bit or 64-bit), copy the DLL to a USB flash drive > connect the drive to the affected PC > move iggy_w64.dll to the dedicated folder > restart the computer > check for improvements.
2. Delete iggy_w64.dll and verify the integrity of game files
- Go to the affected game’s directory, open the Bin folder, and delete the iggy_w64.dll file.
- Now, launch Steam, navigate to the Library, right-click on the affected game, and select Properties.
- Go to the Installed Files tab, and click on Verify integrity of game files.
- Once done, relaunch the game and verify whether it now runs.
For 3 out of 5 users, deleting iggy_w64.dll and then verifying the integrity of game files fixed things in no time. This works because after you delete the DLL and run a repair, Steam downloads a fresh copy of iggy_w64.dll in the correct directory.
3. Whitelist the DLL in your antivirus
- Press Windows + S to open Search, type Windows Security, and click on the relevant result.
- Click on Virus & threat protection.
- Click on Manage settings under Virus & threat protection settings.
- Now, click on Add or remove exclusions.
- Click Yes in the UAC prompt.
- Click the Add an exclusion button and select File from the list of options.
- Navigate to the Bin folder of the affected game, select iggy_w64.dll, and click Open.
- Finally, restart the computer and check for improvements.
In the past, countless users have reported that their antivirus removed iggy_w64.dll and osiris_x64.dll. The only fix for this is to whitelist the file!
Remember, if it’s the antivirus to blame, replacing or downloading iggy_w64.dll won’t help because the antivirus would again delete it. So, check this and first whitelist the DLL.
4. Reinstall the affected game
- Press Windows + R to open Run, type appwiz.cpl in the text field, and hit Enter.
- Select the game that is throwing the DLL error, and click Uninstall.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process and reboot the PC.
- Once done, reinstall the game from Steam.
When iggy_w64.dll is not found, reinstalling the affected game will fix the error. And if a quick removal doesn’t work, use a top-rated software uninstaller to delete all game-related leftover files and Registry entries before the reinstallation!
5. Use a DLL repair tool
If nothing else works, the last option is to use an effective DLL repair tool. When you get one, it will scan the PC for missing and corrupted DLLs, and replace them with a fresh copy from its database.
A major benefit of using a dedicated tool is that it downloads the DLL version that matches the system architecture. For instance, on 64-bit Windows, you will get iggy_w64.dll 64-bit, and on 32-bit Windows, iggy_w64.dll 32-bit!
After examining several cases, I realized that iggy_w64.dll errors are common but easily fixable. In most cases, Steam itself fixed the problem, while whitelisting the DLL did the trick for others.
Before you leave, find out the best gaming settings for Windows and enjoy superfast performance!
