Windows 11 25H2

Microsoft is gearing up for a significant update to Windows 11, with platform changes that lay the groundwork for the upcoming version 25H2. Why? Well, according to the latest reports, the Redmond-based tech giant is dropping some significant clues in this regard.

For example, Microsoft has started testing platform updates in the Dev Channel with builds in the 26200 range. These updates are expected to support Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 chip, enabling smoother performance on devices powered by this hardware.

The Germanium platform, introduced with Windows 11 version 24H2, will likely continue as the foundation for version 25H2. This shared platform will allow Microsoft to deliver updates and bug fixes more efficiently across both versions.

With support for Windows 10 and earlier versions of Windows 11 ending later this year, Microsoft aims to reduce fragmentation by transitioning more users to a unified platform. This move will simplify future updates and improve the overall user experience while offering Microsoft more time to work on Windows 11 25H2.

If everything goes according to plan, the new major Windows 11 patch should be released in October. By then Windows 10 will reach EOS, as well.
