Microsoft Defender Advanced Hunting

Microsoft will introduce three new Advanced Hunting tables to bolster security measures within organizations. These tables are designed to facilitate the tracking and analysis of Teams messages containing URLs, with the aim of identifying potential security risks and ensuring a safer digital environment by providing detailed visibility into shared links.

The announcement was made in a recent entry to the Microsoft 365 Roadmap.

Why is this important? Malicious actors have increasingly targeted these platforms with the rise in remote work and collaboration tools like Teams. The new Advanced Hunting tables empower IT administrators to investigate and mitigate risks associated with suspicious URLs shared in Teams conversations.

In other words, this feature allows organizations to uncover threats proactively and maintain robust security standards.

Here’s what the entry says:

We are introducing three new Advaned Hunting tables designed to facilitate hunting of Teams messages containing URLs within your organization.

Microsoft will add the enhancements to the Defender platform in May, but it will preview them first this month.

In other similar news, Microsoft recently retired Defender’s Privacy Protection. We found out that the capability was underused, and the Redmond-based tech giant preferred to invest budget in other ways to provide a safer environment.
