Google just launched a new YouTube subscription plan called YouTube Premium Lite in the US. It offers an ad-free experience on most videos for just $7.99 a month.
So, what’s the deal with Premium Lite? Well, it’s a more affordable option compared to the regular YouTube Premium, which costs $13.99 a month. Now, the part with most videos is not really clear. Google mentions gaming, fashion, beauty, news, and more. You won’t have free access to YouTube Music so, you’ll probably still see ads on music content, music videos, and Shorts.
Another thing to note is that Premium Lite doesn’t include some of the perks that come with the full Premium plan. For example, you won’t be able to download videos for offline viewing or play videos in the background.
Google has been testing Premium Lite in a few countries, and now it’s finally available in the U.S. They’re also planning to expand it to more regions, including Thailand, Germany, and Australia, in the coming weeks.
So, if you’re looking for a cheaper way to enjoy YouTube without some of the ads, Premium Lite might be worth checking out.
