Copilot GitHub images

Microsoft has enhanced Copilot in GitHub with a significant improvement: users can now upload images to the chat to let the AI model illustrate their ideas effectively.

Microsoft announced the new feature in a recent blog post. It says users can paste an image from the clipboard into the chat or upload it from the File Explorer. Then, they’ll need to add a prompt, and Copilot will take care of the rest.

The Redmond-based tech giant has posted a video, which you can see below, showing how it works.

For now, Copilot in GitHub supports PNG, JPG, and GIF formats. Users can upload up to three images per message for better context, and Microsoft will most likely add more formats in the future.

The feature is now rolling out to users in the preview channel.

The GitHub Copilot is Microsoft’s most popular release. In 2024, it had over 1.3 million users.
