An email client is a software application that a user needs to use in order to access, read and manage his email box. It is also referred to as email reader, or more commonly mail user agent.
There are various email clients, but all have the same basic capabilities, receiving and sending emails. They need to be installed on the computer and the user needs to have Internet access.
However, many email solutions allow users to access and manage their email boxes from a browser. This is known as webmail. It has almost the same functions like the email client.
