Your Sony smart TV won’t turn on? Well, this sounds like pretty bad news, as you can’t use the smart features or even watch TV.
Usually, a TV has no power after a storm, a drop in voltage in electrical power, or after a blackout. This isn’t the only issue, and we already covered no signal from the antenna on Sony TV.
If the whole situation seems pretty scary and you don’t know what to do, keep reading this article to find out how to get your Sony Smart TV back in working condition.
Why is my Sony TV not turning on?
The batteries on your remote might be empty.
Power and HDMI cables might not be properly connected.
Glitches with the TV.
The right input source isn’t selected.
What do I do if my Sony smart TV won’t turn on?
1. Perform a few simple checks
If your Sony Smart TV won’t turn on, check the remote control batteries. Consider changing the batteries and then check again if the TV will turn on.
Make sure that nothing is interfering with the infrared signal from your remote.
Check if the power cable is correctly plugged into the TV and outlet.
Plug your TV’s power cable into another power outlet or plug another device into the same outlet to confirm that it works.
If your TV is plugged into a smart plug or anything of sorts, plug it in directly into the wall outlet.
Check your power cable for any damage.
2. Perform a Power reset
Disconnect any external devices connected to your Sony Smart TV. Remove any external drives, USB drives, Chromecast/Amazon Fire stick, or any other device.
Now remove the power cord and wait for a couple of minutes to drain residual power. You can wait longer (about 30 minutes) if you want to make sure that any additional power is drained.
After that, plug in your TV back again. Make sure to connect it directly to a wall outlet. Sometimes, bad extension cords or smart plugs can cause power issues with your TV, so bypass them.
Start your Sony TV and check if it works properly.
Newer Sony Smart TVs have self-resetting fuses. Unplugging the power cord and leaving it this way for a period of time allows a tripped fuse to reset, solving the problem.
This also applies to bad HDMI cables or other types of connection cables. To ensure this is not a cable problem, try to use a different cable or input.
Similarly, a bad input device can trigger the same problem. Check the connections to your input devices and ensure they are turned on and working properly.
If the problem is persistent, contact Sony service. Remember that this isn’t the only issue, and many reported that Sony TV won’t connect to Internet, but we covered that in a separate guide. And if you have a different TV model, check out what to do when your Technika TV won’t turn on.
If you have any other suggestions or questions, please leave them in the comments section below.
Many people from around the world access the internet. We can have access to this global system from almost anywhere on the planet and even beyond. We can even contact the astronauts from the International Space Station through the internet.
Also, many daily activities are depending on the internet. So, the connection should run smoothly.
However, this is not always the case, and users from all over the world are encountering connection issues.
Many people encountered the “The DNS name does not exist. Error Code: INET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND” error message in Windows 10.
It is worth mentioning that this error appeared on Microsoft Edge and not on other browsers.
This is a major issue that blocks access to the internet and today we will show you what to do to fix the problem.
The DNS name does not exist? Here are the solutions!
1. Change to HTTPS
Several users reported that changing “HTTP” to “HTTPS” solves the issue.
2. Use Google’s DNS server
Your ISP’s DNS server might cause this problem. Therefore, you might want to use Google’s public DNS instead. To do that follow the steps below.
Open Network Connections, locate your connection, right-click on it and select Properties.
Here, select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4), and then open Properties.
Select Use the following DNS server addresses and set 8.8.8.8 as Preferred DNS server and 8.8.4.4 as Alternate DNS server. Once you’re done, click on OK.
Alternatively, some users are suggesting to use 208.67.222.222 as Preferred DNS server and 208.67.222.220 as Alternate DNS server.
3. Use another browser
As we said at the beginning of this article, this error appears only on Microsoft Edge. So, to make this issue a thing of the past, surf the internet through another browser.
You can choose Google Chrome, Firefox, or another browser. We recommend Opera One Browser for enhanced privacy protection and top-notch reliability.
Opera One is a modern browser with a straightforward user interface and great security and privacy. It has a built-in VPN that allows you to access geo-restricted content.
On top of that, Opera One has good speed rates and many built-ins. You can easily access your social media accounts in just a few clicks or take advantage of the built in AI.
As you can see, you can fix this problem in no time. Change to HTTPS, use Google’s DNS server or choose another browser to surf the internet. For that, we recommend UR Browser.
If you don’t want to lose your bookmarks from Microsoft Edge, choose one of these tools from our fresh list to import your favorite pages.

Windows 10 provides several mechanisms to learn about the hardware and software within your system. To get the most detailed information, you’ll need to use the aptly-named “System Information” app. Search for its name in the Start menu to find and open the program.
System Information provides a wealth of details about your devices, components and software environment. It’s often your best starting point if you need to get advanced information about a particular aspect of your system.
After launching System Information, you’ll see the default “System Summary” page. This displays fundamental details about your PC, including stats like Windows version, system manufacturer and BIOS version. Basic hardware resources are displayed too, such as installed RAM and available virtual memory.
To dive deeper, you’ll need to expand one of the sections in the tree view. This is attached to the left of the window. It’s divided into three core groups: Hardware Resources, Components and Software Environment.
The first of these provides some fairly low-level details on how hardware resources are being used, such as memory addresses and I/O details. Chances are, you won’t be using this information on a regular basis.
The second section, Components, has more general applications. The devices on your PC are separated into logical categories. You can explore this group, such as “Display” and “USB,” to acquire detailed information on the physical components of your device.
The final section, Software Environment, pertains to Windows settings and your user configuration. Here, you can monitor details of drivers, environment variables, running services and registered startup programs, among other items. It’s worth noting you can’t edit anything directly – System Information purely surfaces details for you to review in other tools.
System Information has a “Find” bar accessible with Ctrl+F. This helps if you’ve already got an idea of what you’re looking for. For example, searching for “adapter” will help you quickly find display adapter details if you’re troubleshooting a graphical fault.
Finally, reports can be exported and imported using the options in the “File” menu. Another option, under View, lets you connect to a remote computer to view its system information. This utilises Windows’ Remote Desktop functionality but means you don’t need to start a full remote desktop session. Instead, you can load the data into your local System Information instance.
System Information gives you a comprehensive view into everything happening on your Windows PC. You’ll then need to jump into other tools to action your discoveries. Typically, you’ll use other facilities from the “Windows Administrative Tools” Start menu folder to continue your search.

Google Assistant is one of the most popular digital assistants out there along with Alexa, thanks to its native integration on Android. Google has also started rolling out its Assistant on select Chromebooks, and the company is also investing heavily in smart appliances. It’s great news for Xbox One users to have alternatives to Kinect or Cortana voice commands on the console, and we hope this openess regarding digital assistants will continue with the next-gen “Project Scarlett” Xbox console.
On October 2 (next Wednesday), Microsoft will be holding a media event in New York City. For the first time since 2017, the event will be live-streamed. We’ll also be in attendance, bringing you all the latest news direct from the floor of the venue in the West Side of Manhattan.
However, in the lead up to the event, there has been plenty of talk on what Microsoft could have in store for Surface fans. There’s a lot to think about, but we’ve gathered up all the rumors for you in a single post. From Surface Pro 7, Surface Centaurus, Windows Core OS, and more, here’s a look at what we expect, and don’t expect to be revealed at Microsoft’ October 2 event.
Most likely to be announced
Surface Pro 7
Last year, Microsoft took the wraps off the Surface Pro 6 at a similar media event in New York City, but it was not live-streamed for all to see. The Surface Pro 6 was more of a minor upgrade, without any major design changes, but this year, we’re expecting something different — the Surface Pro 7.
Rumors have indicated that Microsoft could be releasing three different models of the Surface Pro 7. It’s been said that the entry-level model could feature an Intel Core i3 processor and 4GB RAM. Other leaks have indicated that the Surface Pro 7 could be powered by Intel Ice Lake CPUs, which were just announced a few months ago.
Surface events are not always about hardware, as the last live-streamed Surface event in May 2017 saw many mentions of Windows 10, Office 365, and more.
Well, since the launch of the Windows 10 May 2019 Update, Microsoft has changed the way major featured updates are rolled out. It appears as though major Windows 10 updates are only released once a year, with a big release in the Spring, followed by a minor release with bug fixes in the Fall.
That said, we expect that Microsoft could explain this a bit more during its October 2 event. We could get a recap of all the features introduced in the May 2019 Update, and a look at what’s to come in the 19H2 and 20H1 updates.
Of course, Microsoft could also give the 19H2 update an official launch date and name. We also could hear the company discuss its Chromium-based Edge browser, and perhaps give it an official release date alongside.
Additionally, since Windows Insiders have been testing the 20H1 update for months now, Microsoft could perhaps mention it one way or another during the October 2 event. We might hear them recap the features, and surprise with an announcement of anything new to come in the release — but that’s just speculation.
Surface Laptop 3
Right with the Surface Pro 7, it is very likely that Microsoft could talk about its other Surface products. One of those happens to the Surface Laptop 3, the follow up to last year’s Surface Laptop 2. Based on rumors, and the fact that Microsoft’s stock of last year’s Surface Laptop 2 is now sold out, we expect that there could perhaps be two different versions of the Surface Laptop 3.
A 13-inch Intel version and a 15-inch AMD version could both be released. It has been said that the AMD version could come in up to six variants. One of those could feature an Octa-core CPU, and maybe a dedicated graphics card, which could bring the Surface Laptop closer to the MacBook Pro.
Surface Go 2
The $400 Surface Go was Microsoft’s little surprise to take on Apple’s iPad and the education market. It hasn’t seen an update since it was announced in July 2018, so it’s likely that we could hear a bit more about it during the October 2 event. Current models sport an underpowered Intel Pentium Gold CPU, but rumors show that a refreshed version of the device might sport an Intel Core m3 inside.
Could be announced
Surface Book 3
The final member of the Surface family is the Surface Book 3. Although it went under the radar, the Surface Book lineup last received a refresh with new quad-core Intel Core i5 processors in April. That was an exception, as all these other Surface devices have been stuck on a refreshed version of of the 8th Gen Intel Kaby Lake CPUs.
Still, there hasn’t been much talk about the Surface Book when compared to the Surface Laptop or Surface Pro. We’re assuming it could be getting a minor upgrade. The CPUs inside could see the bump to 10th gen Ice Lake, and perhaps Microsoft could stuff a newer Nvidia GTX 1650 or RTX 2060 GPU inside the 15-inch versions of the Surface Book.
Dual-Screen Surface Centarus?
Microsoft’s dual-screen PC, codenamed Surface Centaurus. has been one of the company’s best, but also worst kept-secrets. There have been plenty of rumors around it. Patents and LinkedIn job listings have revealed the work around the device. However, Microsoft has remained quiet and has never officially acknowledged the device at all.
So, judging that we know employees at the company have seen Centauraus, we’re assuming it could make an appearance during the October 2 event. Additionally, this is the first *major* Surface event since 2017. With the company teasing “experiences” in the event invite, that makes it a major chance for Microsoft to tease or reveal Centaurus in front of the world to see.
It might not be an official reveal or the highlight of the event, but we’re assuming that Microsoft will mention Centaurus one way or another.
Windows Core OS?
If Microsoft were to reveal Surface Centaurus, it would need an operating system for it. Windows 10 isn’t optimized for dual-screen PCs, so the answer would have to be Windows Core OS.
Given that rumors show variants of Core OS powers both HoloLens 2 and the Surface Hub 2X, Microsoft could talk more about it during this October 2 event. We know HoloLens 2 is coming in September, and Surface Hub 2X next year, but we could perhaps get a demo of Core OS on a dual-screen device. That could finally give us a peek at the modularity of the operating system. It could likely include the new start menu and taskbar, for which a recent Windows Insider build leaked.
Teams for Life, Microsoft 365 for consumers, and new Surface accessories?
Surface Laptop, Pro, Book 3, Windows, and Surface Centaurus are not the only things we think might be discussed during the October 2 event. Based on patents and FCC filings, we might also see a new smart speaker from Microsoft, as well as a new Surface Keyboard and Mouse. Of course, there could also be updates to the Surface Headphones, which just launched last year — perhaps a version similar to Apple earpods.
Given that it’s been indicated that the line between Microsoft subscriptions is blurring, we also think that Microsoft could introduce a version of its Microsoft 365 subscription for consumers. This could tie in with “Teams for Life,” a version of Microsoft Teams that was shown off internally at the company. It could extend the chat functionality beyond enterprise and business, allowing general consumers to keep in touch with family and friends, as they would with a standard chat app.
We’ll be on the ground in New York City and will be covering the event live. So, be sure to keep it locked right here to OnMSFT for all the latest news and information.

Unlike smartphones, a camera is made for only one purpose and that is taking pictures. Sometimes, your Nikon camera may stop doing that one job it is made for. Several users reported that their Nikon camera is not taking pictures.
The problem arises due to several reasons, some related to the camera while others are external factors. Keep reading to find out the underlying cause and the solutions that actually work when your Nikon camera won’t take pictures!
Why is my Nikon camera not taking pictures?
Here are a few reasons your camera is not taking clear pictures or not capturing at all:
Misconfigured settings: Camera settings are vital for taking crisp and clear pictures, and any issues here won’t just affect the quality but may altogether disable the functionality.
Improper focus: When the Nikon camera can’t focus, it affects the ability to capture pictures.
Running low on storage: If the connected SD card doesn’t have enough free storage, you won’t be able to capture more pictures.
What can I do if the Nikon camera is not taking pictures?
Before we move to the slightly complex solutions, here are a few quick things to try:
Perform a power cycle. To do that, turn off the camera, remove the lens and the batter, then move the AF switch on the left from A to AM, repeat this a few times, and finally set the AF switch back to A. Reinsert the battery and the lens.
Make sure the SD card has enough free space to store photos when the Nikon camera is not taking pictures.
If none work, head to the fixes listed next.
1. Reset camera options
Make sure your camera is turned on.
Go into Menu and select Settings (gear icon).
Select Reset setup options.
Select Yes to confirm the action.
Now try to focus and click a picture. Check for any improvements.
If you don’t mind adjusting some settings and options from scratch, the best fix is to reset the settings when your Nikon camera won’t take pictures.
2. Check focus and light conditions
Most of the issues related to the Nikon camera not taking pictures has to do with the camera being not able to focus. To achieve optimal focus, make sure there is sufficient light in the direction of the object. This is also true for contrast in the direction of the object.
If necessary, turn on the flashlight and try clicking the picture. Check your lens’ minimum focus distance before shooting any object. If the object is closer than the minimum focus distance of the lens, then you need a new lens to take micro shots.
Check the camera’s drive mode for the self-timer option. If self-time is on, turn it off and then try clicking a picture.
If the option moves to AE/AF Lock which is the last option, then move it to the first option AE/AF Lock, and press OK.
Try to click a picture and check for any improvements.
This issue can occur if you have changed the AutoFocus lock setting in the camera accidentally.
By now, you should have fixed things when the Nikon camera is not taking pictures, and it should be up and running just fine! If the issue persists, you may need to take assistance from Nikon support.
Uplay is a neat game distribution platform where you can buy and download Ubisoft games an their respective DLCs.
More so, it acts like a hub where you can view achievements, chat with friends and read news from the Internet.
As you probably already know, accessing Uplay is only possible via account and password.
Plenty of users are complaining on the official Ubisoft forums that sometimes Uplay doesn’t recognize their password anymore.
On website I can log in normally, but on Uplay, as soon as I click login, it immediately dismisses that it doesn’t recognize my password and yes I’m sure what i type is right.
Should I reinstall? But doing so, maybe will make my go offline mode disappear? Not ready to risk it yet.
What makes the issue all the more confusing is that it happens completely randomly.
What’s more, passwords become valid again after some time, even without any sort of user intervention.
What to do if Uplay rejects your password?
The first solution to come to mind is probably a password reset.
However, it was reported that this problem can normally arise when you change your password from the account management page but still keep signing into Uplay in offline mode.
Sometimes, because the servers are down, the application tells you you entered the wrong credentials.
While this error message may be misleading, simply check whether Ubisoft is having its routine server maintenance, or if it is experiencing any issues.
Ubisoft usually posts ahead of time whenever they are ready to perform a routine server maintenance, so be sure to visit their page from time to time.

Yes, the games from GOG don’t require any launchers, unlike other distribution platforms.
Games are distributed as exe files, so you can install the game and run the executable without relying on any launchers.
The above resolutions should be able to help you if GOG can’t install the game on your PC.
This is a completely different issue, and in today’s guide, we will show you the best ways to fix it, so let’s get started.
Why is my Sony Bravia TV not picking up signal?
Issues with the connection between the antenna and TV.
The source device might not be working properly.
Outdated firmware can sometimes cause this problem.
Issues with channel settings can cause this issue as well.
An incorrect input source will give you this message.
Issues with your TV settings.
How can I fix No signal message on Sony Bravia TV when using antenna?
1. General troubleshooting steps
Check if all the connections are working properly. If your antenna, cable, or other source device is not properly connected to your Sony Smart TV, this will trigger the NO SIGNAL message.
Make sure that all the cables are plugged in to the right ports.
Change the channel and try a different source or device.
Confirm that the source device is on and working properly.
Make sure that there are no issues with your cable provider.
Check if the TV has the latest firmware update installed. If not, update your Sony Smart TV.
Perform a Power reset. If you don’t know how to do that, check out the steps from this article.
2. Use the Auto Program feature
Power on your Sony Smart TV.
Press the Home button on your remote control.
Select Settings.
Now choose Channels and choose Channel setup.
After that, you’ll see two options: Cable and Antenna. Select the appropriate signal type for your connection.
Select Auto Program and wait for the process to finish.
It’s worth mentioning that the channels you receive depend on your region. Also, the Auto Program feature can take several minutes, depending on the number of channels received.
If your TV worked fine and suddenly is showing the NO SIGNAL message, it is possible that you changed the input by mistake.
Press the Input button on your remote control. Usually, it is located at the top of the remote, but if it isn’t there, check your remote for the Input button.
After pressing the Input button, a list with all the available inputs should appear. The active ones should be highlighted with a color while the inactive ones should be grayed out.
Depending on your source, choose the appropriate input for that source (HDMI, cable, antenna). Keep in mind that if your TV has multiple HDMI’s, they will be named differently (HDMI 1, HDMI 2, HDMI Side). Be sure to select the correct one.
After doing that, check if Sony TV antenna input is still not working.
4. Perform a Factory reset
To start, press the Home button on your remote control.
Now go to Settings.
Under Storage & Reset select Factory data reset.
Choose Erase everything.
Confirm by selecting Yes.
Keep in mind that this will delete all your information, downloaded apps, saved info, and settings. Use it as a last option.
Sometimes, if you’re using a signal splitter, the signal can be weak.
In this case, try a direct connection to see if it works. If the direct connection works, then the signal splitter is at fault, and you should always keep your Sony Smart TV on a direct connection.
As you can see, it’s easy to fix no signal from the antenna on Sony Bravia TV, but that’s not the only issue you can encounter.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the only issue, and many reported that Sony Smart TV isn’t responding, but we tackled that issue in a separate guide.
If you have any other questions, drop them in the comments section below, and we’ll be sure to check them out.
FIFA is known for a lot of things, but customizability isn’t exactly one of them.
Users that have played FIFA 19 were used to using a hex editor use in-game real managers faces in career mode.
With the launch of FIFA 20, users are wondering if this trick is still usable.
The go-to hex editor for these types of modifications is RDBM.
RDBM is a modding tool, but only affects the visual aspects of the game, and in no way will give you an unfair advantage during online matches.
This tool is very similar in functions with the old Internal Master and allows you do edit the database tables present in the FIFA 20 career and tournament files.
How to use RDBM to get real manager faces
In essence, all you needed to do is edit a certain line in FIFA.exe from RAM with this hex editor.
The problem is that EA has changed the game’s coding by adding a few extra lines of text.
Because of the possibility to edit your manager appearance in FIFA 20, EA has added new fields to the manager table in the database.
As such, editing headassetid is no longer enough to make a perfect copy
This makes it so that it is no longer possible to edit the manager table with RDBM, or at least not with RDBM 19 the way you used to.
If you too are trying to use RDBM 19 to modify FIFA 20, but are unsuccessful, just extract this FIFA 20 folder inside RDBM/Templates.
Many people are thrilled with the release of the FIFA 20. However, not everything is perfect for all gamers.
Quite a few users encountered the “Your account doesn’t have a fut club associated with it” message in the FUT 20 web app.
This problem appeared even though users have FUT 19 that works properly. So, what’s the problem here? Well, nobody knows exactly. However, we have a few suggestions that might solve the problem.
Encountering FUT 20 error? Try this!
Make sure you’re logged in with the right account
Sometimes, this error message appears if you logged in with another account. Check to see if you use the correct EA account. If you use the correct account, try the method below.
Many users reported that they fixed the problem by loading FUT 19. The app came up with a pop-up that redirected to FUT 20. The new web application opened without any issues.
Conclusion
As you can see, this article shows two easy solutions for this problem. Check if you logged in with the correct EA Account. If this method didn’t work, load FUT 19. From there, it should redirect you to FIFA Ultimate Team 20.
Also, the users who didn’t get FUT 19 didn’t have access to FUT 20 either. So, this is a major issue from the developers’ part.
Did our solutions help you? Do let us know in the comments section below!
FIFA 20 players have been reporting on FIFA forums that they are having issues logging into the game with their persona:
i played on my main throughout the ea access and now it wants me to make a new club and stuff.. I were in contact with support last year about this same problem but it seems to happen
With the official launch of FIFA 20, thousands of users across both PS4 and Xbox consoles will not be able to play online or use the game‘s most popular features.
These persona issues manifest themselves in several ways, including:
The game keeps mistakenly fetches the wrong persona data tied to your EA account.
Plenty of users are now seeing the wrong Ultimate Team, which has resulted in FIFA points being redeemed on one account but ending up in another’s Ultimate Team.
Some users are seeing the wrong Virtual Pro.
Users can’t play online at all
Users can’t play Volta story, which gets stuck on the generating match report message after first game of story.
Curiously enough, this issues seems to be linked more to the way FIFA 20 is handled on consoles.
This is because the issue does not exist on the FUT Web App where the correct corresponding data is shown for each account.
More troubling is that users confirmed that the issue carries over to the full game.
What to do if your FIFA 20 has persona issues on your console
While no permanent fix is available yet, one workaround can be used to view your correct FUT club.
It doesn’t seem to allow you to play online FUT games, though.
Go into Online Seasons on your primary account.
Search for a game and get the error message instantly.
Repeatedly press X on the message 20-25 times.
Exit, and go to your desired game mode.
Your correct persona should now be detected, and you should have your correct FUT club.
This workaround will sometimes allow you to play online games in Seasons, but usually not FUT.
Keep note that this fix is only a temporary solution, as only a patch can permanently fix it.
It seems that EA has taken note of this serious issue.
They also promised players that this issue will definitely be fixed, as it is a priority issue ahead of launch.
Additionally, they promised that players will not lose any content as a result of this bug.
Sony Smart TVs, among other things, are also Bluetooth enabled devices. However, many reported that Bluetooth is not working on their Sony TV.
Usually, things like smartphones, gamepads, mice and keyboards, speakers, and others, can be connected to your TV if both devices have Bluetooth enabled.
If you bumped in to Bluetooth connectivity issues with your Smart TV, then take a look at the steps below to learn how to fix them.
Why my TV is not connecting to Bluetooth?
Bluetooth might not be enabled on the TV or the device.
The Bluetooth device is low on battery power.
Interference with 2.4GHz signal.
Glitches with Bluetooth settings.
How can I fix Sony TV Bluetooth if it’s not working?
1. General troubleshooting steps
Make sure that your Sony Smart TV has Bluetooth and is enabled. This applies for the device that you’re trying to connect as well.
Make sure that the device that you’re trying to connect has enough battery life.
Try to connect your device to another TV or PC/console to check if it works.
Make sure that there are no wireless communication interference. Bluetooth devices use 2.4Ghz band and the connection may degrade due to wireless interference.
Update your Sony Smart TV to the latest firmware version.
Note: some devices can’t be connected to Sony Smart TVs through Bluetooth. Audio devices can’t be connected through Bluetooth to TVs older than 2016. Also, smartphones, tablets, and some headphones won’t connect to your TV via Bluetooth.
Be sure to try these steps if Sony Bravia is not finding Bluetooth headphones.
2. Re-do your Bluetooth settings
Press the Home button on your remote control.
Navigate to Settings and go to NETWORK & ACCESSORIES. Lastly, choose Bluetooth settings.
Select Bluetooth.
Change the Bluetooth from ON to OFF.
Now change it back to ON.
After re-making your Bluetooth settings, check if the connection can now be established properly.
Remove the batteries from your remote and reinsert them.
Re-do your Bluetooth settings as shown in the previous solution.
If your remote and TV are paired, un-pair them and then re-pair them back. To re-pair your remote, follow the next steps.
Turn on your TV and press the Home button on the remote.
Go to Settings and go to Network & Accessories. Select Touchpad Remote Control settings.
Select Pair Touchpad Remote Control and then choose Yes.
Follow the on-screen instructions.
If you want to pair your remote without using it, turn on the TV, on the back panel of your Sony Smart TV press and hold the INPUT button for 7 seconds, and then follow the on-screen instructions.
After doing that, check if Sony TV is not pairing with Bluetooth.
4. Keyboards, mice, and gamepads
Sony Smart TVs can recognize most USB keyboard and mice. This also applies to Bluetooth enabled peripherals.
Keep in mind that some functions, for example, the right-click on a mouse, are not supported. Also, some peripherals and accessories won’t connect if not supported.
As for gamepads, there is official Bluetooth support only for DS4 controllers. Other controllers might work as well, but you’ll experience input lag.
After following these steps, your Sony Smart TV’s Bluetooth should work as intended, and you should be able to connect to any supported devices.
If you still experience connection problems, you can try to perform a Power reset or a Factory reset. For more info on how to do that, check out the steps in this guide.
Now that you’ve sorted this issue, why not check our guide on how to connect Sony smart TV to Wi-Fi.

Seemingly in homage to former CEO Steve Ballmer’s infamous “Developers! Developers! Developers!” keynote chant, Microsoft seems to be repeatedly beating the drum of cloud protections through a “Security! Security! Security!” typed of mindset as of late.
To that end, Microsoft announced earlier this week that Azure Sentinel, the company’s cloud-native SIEM is now generally available. Azure Sentinel represents Microsoft’s intelligent security analytics platform designed for scale at a cloud-level and specifically targetting various sized enterprises and workloads.
Recent research tells us that 70 percent of organizations continue to anchor their security analytics and operations with SIEM systems, and 82 percent are committed to moving large volumes of applications and workloads to the public cloud. Security analytics and operations technologies must lean in and help security analysts deal with the complexity, pace, and scale of their responsibilities. To accomplish this, 65 percent of organizations are leveraging new technologies for process automation/orchestration, while 51 percent are adopting security analytics tools featuring machine learning algorithms. This is exactly why we developed Azure Sentinel—an SIEM re-invented in the cloud to address the modern challenges of security analytics.
In cultivating Azure Sentinel, Microsoft worked with partners to gain feedback from over 12,000 customers and two petabytes of data analysis to create a solution that empowers customers to defend their infrastructures with more efficiently.
In a new blog added to Microsoft Security, the company shares details about how successful some of its partners have already become successful with their own anecdotes of Azure Sentinel usage.
With these design partners, we’ve continued our innovation in Azure Sentinel. It starts from the ability to connect to any data source, whether in Azure or on-premises or even other clouds. We continue to add new connectors to different sources and more machine learning-based detections. Azure Sentinel will also integrate with Azure Lighthouse service, which will enable service providers and enterprise customers with the ability to view Azure Sentinel instances across different tenants in Azure.
For now, Azure Sentinel is in public preview and in general availability for anyone in charge of their company’s more traditional SIEM’s while also looking for a more cost-effective solution. For anyone still up in the air about Azure Sentinel, Microsoft will be hosting an Azure Security Expert Series tomorrow September 26, 2019, from 10-11 AM Pacific Time and signs are here.
FIFA 20 is the latest installment in the critically-acclaimed football-themed game series.
As you may already know, it is available on PC, Xbox and PS4, so pretty much everyone gets to enjoy it.
Those of you that play FIFA 20 on PC know that you can choose to play either using a mouse and keyboard or using a controller attached to your PC.
The problem with those using console controllers is that users have been reporting issues when trying to control their in-game players using the d-pad.
Seems there are problems for certain skill moves, especially for the fake shot… this worked well for years and years. Hopefully it is a demo-thing and will be fixed with ea access and full launch. I know d-pad users are a minority, but we most let EA know that we want a fix.
Why use the D-Pad and not joystick instead?
The first reactions regarding the issue were why was it even treated as an issue.
Users argued that a far better control alternative already existed in the form of the joystick.
As you all know, FIFA started out with their first game back in 1995.
Back then, the d-pad was your go-to solution when it came to omnidirectional character control.
Many of the players from that era continue playing today.
Subsequently, many of them prefer the good old-fashioned d-pad over the joystick.
I am 37y i grew up with the d-pad…. but the point is…. don’t mess with what is good…
Apparently the issue is most visible when trying to perform special moves, such as penalties and free kicks.
More so, the issue seems to extend to keyboard users as well.
Apparently, they seem to be having the exact same issues with the arrow keys.
Curiously enough, what seems to bug users, even more, is not the severity of the issue itself.
It is the fact that it was reported during the beta, during the demo, and during the EA access.
This leaves players rather pessimistic whether the issue will be solved any time soon, or will they just have to learn how to play using the joystick.
Speaking of which, you must remember that if you have FIFA 20 on PC, and don’t want to play it using a mouse and keyboard, you need to have an official Xbox 360 or Xbox One controller if you wish to play it.
DEFENDING, it’s broke to the point it is embarrassing .
More so, they go into further detail explaining the issue:
[…]team mates will proceed to break shape and leave gaps they just go opposite directions from what your wanting them to do they take up spaces so there not going to be involved in defending[…]
Apparently, the main problems seem to stem from the game’s faulty AI.
The FIFA 20 goalkeepers are apparently facing the worst issues
I would seem that the goalkeeper is also suffering from a faulty AI:
goalkeepers don’t have good games anymore because they don’t make saves anymore lol 4 shots on target 4 goals , shot hit straight at goal keeper parried into net or underneath him etc
As Smart TVs become more and more popular, people use all sorts of apps on them. However, many reported that their Sony TV have apps disappeared.
In case you’re not familiar with how apps work, we have a great guide on how to add or delete apps on Sony TV, so be sure to check it out.
Why is my smart TV not showing apps?
Network issues can interfere with apps on your TV.
Outdated TV firmware can cause issues at times.
Your TV settings or glitches can cause this problem to appear.
DNS settings can prevent apps from working properly.
What can I do if my Sony TV apps have disappeared?
1. General troubleshooting steps
Make sure that your TV is connected to the Internet. If there’s any problem with your Internet connection, app icons might not be visible.
If your Sony Smart TV is connected to a wireless network, restart your router. If possible, try to use a wired connection.
Update your TV to the latest firmware version.
Perform a Power reset. If that doesn’t fix the issue, try a Factory reset. The Factory reset will delete all the data, apps, and saved changes, so you may want to try this option only if the other solutions from this article fail.
2. Refresh the Internet Content
Press the Home button on your remote control.
Now go to Settings and choose System Settings.
Choose Set-up and then Network.
Select Refresh Internet Content.
Apps might disappear from your Sony Smart TV after a reset, a system update, or just after the purchase because of content changes.
Refreshing the Internet content might help you get them back, so it’s worth the try.
Now go to Settings and then Network. Lastly, choose Network Settings/Set-up.
Select Set-up Network connection.
After that, choose Custom/Expert.
Select Wired/Wireless Set-up. Connect your TV to a wireless network.
Find the Manual IP Address and select it.
Don’t make any changes to the IP address. Instead, for Primary DNS enter 8.8.8.8 and for Secondary DNS enter 8.8.4.4.
If prompted to use a proxy server, choose NO.
After that, choose Save and Connect and you should be able to establish a network connection.
Usually, the DNS address is automatically assigned by your ISP, but if it doesn’t work properly, you can change it to solve any server-related problems.
Keep in mind that if your Internet connection becomes unstable or slower, you can change your DNS again by searching for other Public DNS servers.
After changing your DNS, make sure to Refresh the Internet content again and your apps should now appear on your Sony Smart TV.
We hope that this guide helped to fix the issue with disappeared apps on Sony TV. In case the problem is still there, we have a guide on Sony TV not working that might help.

With a lot of new and exciting features, FIFA 20 promises to be one of the biggest releases of the year.
The great majority of FIFA fans were waiting for the official release for some time. Others enjoyed an early access period through EA Access.
If you didn’t know, EA Access is the console version of Origin Access. It can be used on the Xbox One and PS4 to get access to games published by Electronic Arts.
Recently, a lot of FIFA 20 players reported that the EA Access app doesn’t work, making them loose the trial for FIFA 20. For some, the game won’t work or download:
Hi I had started my EA access trial with FIFA 20 (10 hours) and downloaded the trial game. After 2 hours the console shutdown and now I am unable to access the trial again
While for others, the EA Access app won’t even start:
Anyone else’s ea access app not working ? Mine just freezes on the main screen and won’t let me do anything.
This can be a pretty annoying problem, especially with the FIFA 20 trial being only 10 hours. Let’s see what you can do to fix the problem.
What can I do if FIFA 20 is not working in the EA Access app?
1. Access the 10 hour trial
Go to the Microsoft Store on your PC.
Now go to the FIFA 20 page. Make sure to go to the base game page, not the Deluxe Edition or Standard Edition.
In the top-right, near the Play button, you’ll see three dots. Click on them.
After that, click on Free trial.
Wait for a couple of minutes for the change to take effect. Then, your game should work on your console without any problems.
Alternatively, you can do the same thing directly on your Xbox One console. Go to the Xbox store and follow the same steps as above.
You can also try to uninstall and reinstall the EA Access app. Make sure that you have a valid EA subscription and you membership is valid.
Press the Xbox button on your console to turn it off.
After the console completely shuts down, unplug the power cable from the wall outlet.
Wait for a minute or two for the power supply to reset.
Press the Xbox button again to power up your console and then check the EA Access app.
Even though this solution seems pretty simple, it solved the problem for a lot of Xbox One users, so give it a try as it might work for you too.
3. Reset the Xbox One
Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
Navigate to System > Settings > System > Console info.
Select Reset console.
You’ll see two options: Reset and remove everything and Reset and keep my games & apps. Choose Reset and keep my games & apps.
Wait for the process to finish.
After the console resets itself, it will load the default settings. Then, you’re EA Access app and FIFA 20 should work without any problems. This solution was confirmed as working by some Xbox One users.
After following all the steps from this article, you should be able to use the EA Access app to play FIFA 20.
If you have any more suggestions or questions, don’t hesitate to leave them in the comments section below.
Microsoft is pushing out new features to Office 365, primarily PowerPoint, giving users more tools to help them with their presentations. Probably one of the most useful is what Microsoft is touting as “Presenter Coach”, a tool that was announced last month and is currently in public preview. It improves publish speaking skills by providing feedback on reversion in areas such as filler words and speech pacing. Microsoft is rolling the feature out to English speakers first, but promises to “add new capabilities and improve performance in the coming months.”
PowerPoint in Office for the web is also gaining Inking capabilities, allowing users to add annotations to their slides in real time. The new feature lets individuals to animate process flows and diagrams in Slide Show, allowing them to interpret ideas in a more effective way.
Microsoft is also bringing templates to the Whiteboard app for desktop and iOS devices, including those used for brainstorming, KANBAN sprint planning, SWOT analysis, project planning, learning, and others. The templates are currently in public preview for users on Windows 10, but will make its way to iOS and iPadOS devices “within a few days.”
Microsoft has also added 23 education-based 3D models created by Lifeliqe to Office as well, allowing teachers and students to use them within Powerpoint presentations. These models are available now to Office 365 subscribers in Windows now, although no word has been provided on them coming to other platforms.
What do you think of these new features? What else do you think Microsoft can do to improve its Office 365 services? Let us know what you think in the comments area below.
Microsoft released yesterday a new preview of Windows Terminal, the new command-line tool that it introduced at its Build developer conference earlier this year. Windows Terminal Preview 1909, now available on both the Microsoft Store and GitHub, introduces many new features including support for the new Cascadia Code monospaced font that Microsoft is developing along Windows Terminal.
Other new additions in this latest release include a Settings Schema providing auto-fill suggestions when editing your profiles.json file, Stylus selection support, as well as a new “closeWindow” key binding option for the Terminal. This latest preview also includes a fix for a bug causing the app to sometimes crash when copying items, and you’ll see that copying text from the Terminal will now respect newline characters.
Microsoft plans to have a feature complete version Windows Terminal by the end of the year. Windows Terminal 1.0 is expected to be released in April 2020, and the team plans to release updates every four weeks once the app goes out of preview. You can learn more about all the features planned for Windows Terminal 1.0 on GitHub.
Everyone remembers their first Surface, and for me, that was the Surface RT. I carried it as a daily driver for two years of community college. I then traded up to a newer Surface 3. Eventually, I finally upgraded to the Surface Pro 4 when I headed to a four-year school to study Journalism, and landed my job here at OnMSFT.
Well, it wasn’t a first only for me. The Surface RT was also part of Microsoft’s first venture into PC hardware. At a time when OEMs like Dell were known for making the best laptops, it was unexpected for Microsoft to launch its own device.
Though Surface RT flopped and never sold well — and caused big internal shakeups at Microsoft — it marked a big moment for the company. With iPads being dominant, Microsoft was looking to ship an operating system and device that satisfies the needs of both desktop and tablet users.
That’s part of the reason why RT flopped, but it’s also why there were many lessons learned — and why the Surface lineup is where it is at today.
Now, over four years later, and the week before a Surface event, I dug up my Surface RT from my closet, and feel the need to talk about it in retrospect. This little device really started a revolution at Microsoft.
The kickstand
To begin, I’ll mention the thing that started it all — the kickstand. It’s something that Microsoft really played up when it first marketed the Surface. You might recall it, but a commercial for Surface RT featured dancers snapping the keyboard into the device, and pulling the kickstand up and down to the tunes of a very catchy rhythm.
So, yeah, we get it. Surface RT features a kickstand that makes using the tablet on a lap easy and without the need for a case. But, compared to modern Surface devices, I see a big difference and evolution here.
The kickstand on the RT is really thin and fragile. As I pull it, I feel like it can bend. It also only opens up to one position and one angle, making it hard to get the tablet in the right position in your lap.
Over seven years later, the Surface Pro kickstand is much different. It’s so much more sturdy and can take pressure from my hands when using the Surface Pen on the screen. The modern Surface Pro kickstand also opens up to a near-endless angle, almost allowing you to press it flat to the table and open it to any comfortable angle.
While many say you can’t reinvent the wheel, the kickstand is an area that Microsoft really has paid attention to between Surface generations.
Slide content
The bezels
Something else I noticed was bezels. This is often a topic that many people bring up when talking about the Surface, but Microsoft has made major progress over the years.
Older Surface devices feature a capacitive Windows button under the keyboard and thick side bezels. Those bezels on Surface RT gives the device an ugly bottom border around the 10.6-inch screen, with a 16:10 aspect ratio. So, for productivity, a low resolution 1,366 x 768 screen on the RT, really takes away from the immersive experience. Everything is cramped and squished.
Compared to a modern Surface, which ups the size to a 12.3-inch screen, the difference is night and day. While the capacitive button is gone, and bezels still there, the screen is just so much bigger and more immersive. Combined with the 3:2 aspect ratio on newer Surface devices, stacking windows side by side Surface Pro or Surface Go, is just so much easier than it was for me on my Surface RT. It’s nice to see advancement in this area.
Overall design
Finally, there is the overall design. As the critics often say, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” We’ve never seen Microsoft make significant design changes to the Surface between generations. The screen has gotten bigger, bezels a little less thick, and ports have changed, but the build and design have stayed the same.
Visually, the only difference between Surface RT and modern devices is its black color. But, when it comes to the overall design, the devices are almost the same. There are a few exceptions, such as the addition of Windows Hello on the Surface Pro, a magnet on the side for the Surface Pen, and the Surface Connect Port.
But, we still have the kickstand and the POGO detachable keyboard. That same cool to the touch magnesium material also wraps both devices, making it feel light. At 1.7 pounds vs 1.5 pounds on the RT, It’s hard to argue that the Surface Pro is much heavier than the RT. Microsoft has always kept its devices slim and light.
Wrapping things up, Microsoft has paid much attention to three core design areas of the Surface over the years. Bezels, screen, and kickstand. With rumors of a dual-screen Surface spreading like mad, I wonder where it can go next.
Performance, and Windows RT vs Windows 10
When Surface RT launched, Windows RT was the operating system you were trapped with. Based on Windows 8, but locked down to only running apps from the Microsoft Store, I initially remember quite hating the operating system.
It also should be noted that the Surface RT sported an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor and 2 GB of RAM, which means that drivers, programs, and everything on the device was proprietary. You couldn’t install apps like Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox. You were stuck with what Microsoft loaded to the device, or what you can find in the store.
Coming from a Windows 7 desktop PC, the Live Tiles and Start Screen, Charms Bar of Windows RT were oh so confusing for me. But, switching the tablet to desktop mode didn’t prove too bad. Since Surface RT included Office 2013, I was able to type up my school assignments, get work done in Internet Explorer and more.
Over time, I grew used to Windows RT’s weird touch gestures, and I appreciated the Start screen which gave me info at a quick glance. Microsoft even brought back the regular Windows 7 style Start Menu with the Windows 8.1 Update 3. But it was too late, Surface RT already flopped.
Anyway, with modern Surface devices, like the Surface Pro, I think Microsoft learned its lesson from Windows RT. Microsoft recently launched the Surface Go, which shipped with Windows 10 S, an operating system similar to Windows RT that’s locked to the Microsoft Store only apps. However, it allows consumers to switch to regular Windows 10 if needed.
While some modern Surface devices shipped with Windows 8, users could have upgraded to Windows 10 for free. That operating system itself is also more optimized for those more familiar with Windows 7, but it also keeps the option for live tiles, and a tablet mode if needed.
At the end of the day, compared to what I had with Windows RT, things have come a long way. Today, on my Surface Pro, I am using apps like Spotify, Instagram, Twitter, Slack, and more.
Microsoft really learned its lesson and invested in its store. Despite the constant bugs, it also developed a more efficient operating system for its hardware that doesn’t make users feel violated as Windows 8 did.
A whole different Type Cover
Now, I can’t compare Surface RT and Surface Pro without mentioning the keyboard. This is something that Microsoft has invested heavily in over the past few Surface generations. It’s also one of the first things that I noticed when picking back up my Surface RT.
With its small 10 inch screen, the Surface RT feels more like an iPad — and so does its Type Cover. The keys don’t have any spacing between them, and barely any room for key travel. The trackpad is also tiny and features a weird felt material, that makes dragging my fingers hard.
Pulling out my Surface Pro Type Cover, the differences are amazing. With a bigger screen, the TouchPad is larger, but it’s made of glass and is so much more accurate. The keys on the Type Cover are so much more spaced out, and I can actually type out sentences, without touching more than one key at a time. There’s also the benefit of having the convenience of the Type Cover on the Surface Pro “snapping” to the screen. That raises it up for a more comfortable typing experience. With the Surface RT, the cover stays flat to the lap or a table, making it harder to type.
Where’s the pen?
Finally, there is support for pens. While the original Surface sported a Wacom stylus, the Surface RT doesn’t. This wasn’t something that didn’t really bother me, as I used a capacitive stylus in place to ink on the screen and take notes. It isn’t as convenient as a physical Wacom stylus, but it worked.
But, moving between Surface generations, I can see that Microsoft realized pen support is important. Not only does the modern Surface Pro still support pens, but so does the Surface Laptop, Book, and Studio. You might not get the pen with the Surface anymore, but there’s quite a bit to miss out when it comes to inking and annotating without it.
Come a far way, but more places to go
At the end of the day, the Surface lineup has come a very far way. The screen, kickstand, keyboard, and operating systems on the devices have all evolved over the years — but there are still more places the Surface lineup can go.
Sure, critics have has bad things to say about the reliability of the Surface Lineup (especially Consumer Reports.) But, they’re lessons that Microsoft can, and actually has, learned from.
We best saw that with the Surface Pro 3, which addressed complaints saying the original Surface was too heavy and the battery life was horrible. The Pro 3 was not only lighter but also sported a bigger display, as well as an improved kickstand. However, even that model too faced reliability and WiFi issues.
The follow-up, the Surface Pro 4, also suffered from an issue with the display, known as flickergate. And, Microsoft’s then-new take on the convertible laptop, the Surface Book, suffered problems where the battery would drain when the device is in sleep mode.
Despite what Consumer Reports have said about Surface devices not being reliable, newer Surface devices build on the failures and feedback of Surface past. Microsoft is always working to improve its products.
In fact, the introduction of the Surface lineup and Surface RT invented an entirely new form factor for PCs — the Windows 2 in 1. This eventually lead many Microsoft OEMs to imitate the Surface, best seen with devices like the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet.
With the news that a dual-screen PC codenamed Centaurus could be on the way, there are only more places the Surface lineup can go. But, as my coworker told me while I was writing this piece: Let us hope that Microsoft learned from its lesson and that Centarus won’t be another Surface RT.
Storage drives need regular maintenance to ensure peak performance. Modern SSDs are less susceptible to performance degradation than spinning hard disks but regular optimisation still contributes to long-term drive health.
Windows 10 has a built-in drive maintenance utility. You can find it by searching for “optimise drives” in the Start menu – it will display as “Defragment and Optimise Drives.”
The app’s main interface will display an overview of all the storage devices on your system. Check the “Current status” property to see whether a drive needs optimisation. For mechanical hard disks, a high fragmentation percentage indicates the drive should be optimised. Solid state drives will display whether they need optimisation based on usage and drive health.
You can optimise a drive by selecting it and pressing “Optimise.” Depending on the drive’s capacity, this process may take considerable time. You can keep using your PC while it’s ongoing. The “Analyse” button will cause Windows to reassess whether a drive needs optimisation, giving you an accurate indication of the current fragmentation level.
Defragmentation consolidates fragmented files to improve drive performance. Files are fragmented if there isn’t enough contiguous space to store the entire file in one place when it’s written to the drive. When the file is accessed in the future, the hard drive has to read from multiple locations, reducing performance.
Under “Scheduled optimisation”, you can configure Windows to optimise your drives automatically. It’s generally advisable to enable this. Click “Change settings” to configure your optimisation schedule. Use the popup to choose a frequency for the schedule (daily, weekly or monthly) and select the drives to optimise. Regular optimisation will ensure your storage performs at its best throughout its life.
(Editor’s note: it’s “optimise” in the UK and “optimize” in the US ? )
Some users of the Windows 10 May 2019 Update (build 1903) may see a new “PortableBaseLayer” virtual hard drive appear in Disk Management. When it shows up, this drive cannot be changed or removed.
Posts across various online support forums suggest that plenty of people have concerns about “PortableBaseLayer.” Although not acknowledged by Microsoft, the drive does however have a simple explanation.
Microsoft appears to be using this approach as a way to guarantee the integrity of the Sandbox environment. As Sandbox is meant to provide you with a clean virtual desktop, Microsoft needs to ensure users and programs can’t modify the “base image” which hosts the feature.
Using a locked virtual hard drive gives Microsoft a way to seal Sandbox off from your wider system. Unfortunately, the mysteriously-named drive ends up visible in Disk Management, even though users can’t interact with it.
Evidence from Windows Insiders (via Winhelponline) suggests this issue has been resolved in current insider builds of Windows 10. The next major update should hide PortableBaseLayer, even if Windows Sandbox is enabled. In the meantime, Sandbox users will appear to have an invisible virtual hard drive attached to their machine.
Microsoft announced earlier today that the video games, Bad North, Cities: Skylines, Dirt Rally 2.0, and Saints Row IV would soon be coming to the Xbox Game Pass for PC subscription service.
No dates or times have been released just yet but it’s assumed that they’ll be joining the library of playable titles by the end of October at the latest.
Xbox Game Pass is kind of like a Netflix for video games. Users pay a recurring monthly subscription fee and in exchange are given full access to around 100 video games on Xbox One as part of Xbox Game Pass for Console and around 100 games on PC with Xbox Game Pass for PC.
The Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription plan gives subscribers full access to both the PC and Console plans in addition to an Xbox Live Gold membership.

PowerShell is a great tool for Windows system administration created by Microsoft. You can run command lines to automate the operating system.
This is a new tool that comes with Windows 10 and has many functionalities. However, these features come with several issues.
Many users encountered the error message “running of scripts is disabled on this system”.
Therefore, the PowerShell execution policy doesn’t allow running scripts. Also, the same error appears when trying to run a PowerShell script.
This is a major issue that makes the PowerShell unusable. Fortunately, there are some solutions available and today we will show you what to do if you encounter the “running of scripts is disabled on this system” error in PowerShell.
Can’t run scripts in PowerShell? Here’s the fix
Change the PowerShell execution policy
By default, the PowerShell execution policy is set to Restricted. You can change that by setting policy to RemoteSigned.
So, change the execution policies with Set-ExecutionPolicy cmdlet. It should be like this:
PS C:> Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned
Also, you can use the following command:
PS C:> get-executionpolicy
You can bypass the command above by adding this script:
As you can see, by typing some commands you can fix the “running of scripts is disabled on this system” error in PowerShell.
It is worth mentioning that PowerShell has four different execution policies:
Restricted – you can’t run scripts. AllSigned – you can run only the scripts signed by a trusted publisher. RemoteSigned – you can run downloaded scripts that a trusted publisher signed. Unrestricted – you can run all Windows PowerShell scripts.
Also, keep in mind that PowerShell has the Restricted execution policy set as default. The reason is to stop people from executing commands found on the Internet. As we all know, some scripts can damage your computer.
So, before you change the execution policy, check your script and search for additional information about it. This way, you will make sure everything is safe before running the command in PowerShell.
Did our solution help you? What scripts do you run in PowerShell? Do let us know in the comments section below!
The friend list is not loading anymore and wont show up. It´s just loading and loading but no friends showing up. How do we fix this problem?
Other players are stating on other forums that while they can see their friends list, all of them appear offline despite being online.
Uplay says my friends are offline but they are online. I can send them private messages they can send me a private messages but I dont see them online.
Friends from Steam can’t be added to Uplay either
More so , players are reporting that they cannot import their friends from other gaming platforms, such as Steam.
I can manually add someone on uplay who has a uplay account but when trying to import friends from steam it gives the error of “Something went wrong. Your steam friends could not be imported.”
While not officially confirmed that the two problems may be linked, it is a well known fact that Uplay has some compatibility issues with Steam.
What to do if your Uplay friends are not showing up
These solutions were proposed by users on the forums, and most of them state that this a solution that indeed works.
1. If you are using both Steam and Uplay
Log out of Uplay
Log out of Steam
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc
Look for the Steam and the Uplay entries
Select them and press End Task for each of them
Log back onto Steam
Log back onto Uplay
Check your friends list.
It should be working now, and if not, follow the solution bellow.
2. If you only use Uplay
Go to Uplay desktop menu and click Go Offline
Afterwards while in offline mode, go to the menu and click Go Online
Check your friends list.
3. Check to see if the problem is at Ubisoft’s end
If you and some of your friends are having the same problems at around the same time, go to Ubisoft‘s website and check to see if there is a server-related problem.
Ubisoft performs frequent server maintenance which they usually announce beforehand.
Additionally, their servers have been the subject of plenty of cyber attacks, so unexpected server shutdowns may also be a possible explanation.
Some utilize Task Scheduler to set up scheduled tasks that open software and files. However, those scheduled tasks might not always work for users. That is often because the files the tasks need to open include spaces in their file titles.
Consequently, a scheduled task might not open the software or a file it’s supposed to. However, it’s relatively easy to fix scheduled tasks that don’t open files with spaces.
How can I fix scheduled tasks that include files with spaces?
1. Add quote marks to the file paths
Users can fix the scheduled tasks by adding quotation marks around the paths that include file (or folder) spaces. To do that, press the Windows key + S hotkey to open the search utility.
Enter ‘Task Scheduler’ in the search box.
Click Task Scheduler to open the window shown directly below.
Double-click Task Scheduler Library on the left of the window to expand it.
Select the folder that includes the scheduled task that needs fixing.
Then right-click the scheduled task and select Properties.
Select the Actions tab in the snapshot directly below.
Select Start a program, and then press the Edit button. The Edit Action window will then open.
If the Program/script path does not include quotation marks around it, add them to the beginning and end of the path.
Then add quotation marks at the beginning and end of the file path in the Add arguments box.
Click the OK button.
Then press the OK button on the properties window.
2. Delete spaces from file titles
Alternatively, try deleting spaces from file and folder titles within the paths included for the scheduled task. To do that, open File Explorer with the Windows key + E hotkey.
Then open the folder that includes the task file with spaces in it.
Right-click the file and click the Rename option.
Delete all the spaces from the file title.
Then press the Enter key.
If any of the folder titles within the software or file paths include spaces, remove the spaces from the folder titles.
3. Add backslash and quote marks to file paths in the Command Prompt
Users who utilize the Schtasks.exe Command Prompt utility to schedule tasks need to include additional backslash (\) and quote (“) marks around the file path with spaces (excluding arguments or switches) within the command. For example, a file path with arguments in the schtasks /create command would look something like this:
“\”c:\foldername with spaces\file.bat\” arguments”
Instead of this:
“c:\foldername with spaces\file.bat arguments”
The example above encloses the first file path within “\ and \” character combinations. However, arguments is left outside the character combinations, but it is still enclosed within the quote marks. With those character combinations included around the path, the task will run at the time scheduled within the command. A full command might look like the one in the snapshot below.
So, users can add quotation marks to the file paths in the Edit Action window, remove spaces from file paths, or add character combinations around file paths that include spaces in Schtasks commands. Then, the scheduled tasks should work.

Microsoft’s Project xCloud game streaming service will be available for public testing next month, and the company revealed today during its latest Inside Xbox webcast that it has just opened registrations for consumers in the US, UK, and South Korea on this page. “We’ll begin to send invites in the coming weeks,” the company said today.
The company expects to receive a lot of applications starting today, and not everyone will get early access to Project xCloud. “It is our intention to accommodate as many eligible players as possible and we’ll continue to invite more gamers into the preview over time,” the blog post on Xbox Wire reads.
Kareem Choudhry, CVP of Gaming cloud at Microsoft was on stage during today’s Inside Xbox to share more details about the service. Four games will be available when the public beta kicks off next month: Halo: 5 Guardians, Gears 5, Sea of Thieves, and Killer Instinct. “This is just the beginning as our content library will continue to grow as the preview progresses,” the Xbox team announced today. Importantly, all these games will be free to play even if you don’t purchase them on your Xbox One.
As for the console streaming feature that Microsoft announced back at E3 2019, it still being developed and will ship to Xbox Insiders first, but the company didn’t share an ETA today. Unlike Project xCloud, this feature will just stream Xbox games you own from your own console to mobile devices, and it should be a nice extension to Microsoft’s full-fledged cloud gaming service.
To try Project xCloud, you’ll just need a Bluetooth-enabled Xbox Wireless Controller and an Android phone or tablet. The service will work on both Wifi and mobile networks, and Microsoft has also teamed up with T-Mobile in the US, Vodafone in the UK, and SK Telekom in South Korea to optimize the experience for gamers on these networks, but xCloud will/should work with any cellular network within the US, UK, or Korea.
Project xCloud content will be available through a dedicated Microsoft Game Streaming app that will be released on Android in the coming weeks. Microsoft didn’t share a launch date for the Project xCloud public beta next month, and it’s also not clear how long the beta test will last. “The preview will continue until customers are consistently reporting a great, fun experience and the technology meets our internal quality standards. As is typical of our preview programs, we plan to begin with focused groups in the early stages for stability purposes and then to expand over time,” the company said today.
As Microsoft’s first 20H1 Bug Bash will kick off tomorrow, September 25, the Windows Insider team has just announced the release of Windows 10 20H1 build 18990 for Fast Ring Insiders. This latest build is a minor update that brings more control over restarting apps at sign-in. In the build 18965, a new setting allowed registered desktop apps from your previous sign-in session to automatically restart when signing back in to Windows, and Microsoft is now enabling automatic restart for UWP apps in the build 18990.
This new build also includes minor improvements for the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), and the team also mentioned today that an FPS counter and achievement overlay has started rolling to the Xbox Game Bar app. You can learn more about new features and other updates for Insiders below.
Enabling automatic restart for UWP apps
Last month, we introduced a new separate setting to control if registered desktop appsfrom your previous sign-in session are restarted when signing back in to Windows. In the latest Insider Preview builds, in addition to registered desktop apps, when you opt into this setting, the majority of open UWP apps are now also automatically restarted as well! To reduce sign-in time, UWP apps are restarted minimized, in a suspended state, giving Windows and other apps more resources to get started. To try it out:
Go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options and turn on “Automatically save my restartable apps when I sign out and restart them after I sign in.” under “Restart apps”.
Start one or more UWP apps, such as Feedback Hub.
Sign out and then sign back into Windows.
UWP apps that were started, such as Feedback Hub, should restart minimized with a taskbar button.
Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) improvements
Improved the performance for directory listings in \\wsl$
[WSL2] Fixed Windows interop when using su / sudo commands [Github issue 4465]
For the full details of changes in this latest Insider Preview build, please see the WSL release notes.
Other updates for Insiders
Xbox Game Bar Updates
In case you hadn’t seen, we’re starting to roll out an FPS counter and achievement overlay! Thanks to everyone who shared feedback about this. The update will come via the Microsoft Store. Just set focus to your favorite game and press WIN + G to get started.
NOTE: You may have to be joined to receive Game Bar updates via the Xbox Insider Hub app (under Insider Content) from the Microsoft Store to see this update.
Reset your PC from the cloud
Earlier today in our Windows Insider webcast, we had the Deployment Team as guests to talk about the new feature that is coming with 20H1 that allows you to reset your PC using the cloud. For more information, check out this article from Program Manager Aaron Lower. You can also watch the on-demand video of this morning’s webcast by visiting our Mixer channel!
As usual, this new build also comes with bug fixes and quality improvements, and the release notes mention a fix for an issue impacting Action Center reliability. You can learn more about other fixes and known issues in our separate post.
Lastly, if you want to participate to the first 20H1 Bug Bash, you can check out the Windows 10 Feedback Hub app at midnight(PDT) to start completing the firstBug Bash Quests. The event will last through October 2, and more quests will be added in the coming days.
We were hoping to get a new Windows 10 20H1 build ahead of the first 20H1 Bug Bash, but that’s apparently not happening. The Bug Bash will run from September 25th to Oct 2nd, and those of you interested in participating can get ready to check out new quests in the Windows 10 Feedback Hub.
