FIX: iCloud settings are out of date on Windows 10/11

The iCloud settings are out of date popup experienced by Windows OS subscribers is an indication that an app-specific password is required to access their iCloud account.

Users might be unable to get rid of this error popup while trying to use a third-party platform until an app-specific password is generated using their iCloud account via the Apple website.

Before we proceed, it is most appropriate that some terms are clearly defined.

What is an app-specific password?

An app-specific password grants you the permission to sign into your iCloud account securely with your Apple ID when using third-party apps.

What is two-factor authentication (2FA)?

The two-factor authentication, commonly abbreviated as 2FA, and otherwise known as two-step verification is a security process which improves your basic sign-in procedure by adding extra steps.

  5. Locate the app for which you need the app-specific password and launch it.
  6. Then paste the specific password.

Having generated the app-specific password for the third-party app of interest, you must now use this specific password to grant the app unrestricted access to your Apple iCloud account.

At this point, the iCloud settings are out of date error popup should no longer be an issue.

If for any reason, the third-party application requires you to re-enter the password of your Apple iCloud account, just use the specific password you already generated.

In case you change the primary password of your Apple ID account, all your generated app-specific passwords will be revoked.

You will be required to create a new one for any non-Apple app you want to grant access to your account.

How to use your PC as a DVR

Millennials or younger generations might not understand the trouble of having to wait until a certain hour to watch your favorite television show or movie.

Today, time is no longer a factor. Cable TV, YouTube, torrents, and video-on-demand online subscriptions have changed the landscape so that watching your favorite flicks, or series, at any time, and from any location is a matter of a few clicks.

Buying a standalone digital video recorder (DVR), or even renting one may be costly over time, so if you don’t have a DVR, there are various options available. And one is using your own PC as a DVR.

As strange as it may sound, especially if you haven’t tried it before, it actually works, whether you’re using an old or new PC.

How can I use my PC as a DVR?

Before going into the details, there are four things you need:

  • A TV tuner to pick the broadcast TV signals for Windows Media Center.  If your PC doesn’t have one, you can buy an internal device (plugged into your PC’s motherboard) or an external one (plugged into the USB port). If you have a cable box, you don’t need a TV tuner card.
use your PC as a DVR
  • TV signal. Check that your area of residence has sufficient OTA (over the air) reception for TV signals and local channels.
  • 500 GB or more of hard drive space because one show may take up more than 7GB.
  • The right software. In this case, use the Windows operating system (except Windows RT which doesn’t include the Windows Media Center software).

How to set the PC as a DVR?

  1. If you use cable TV, plug it directly to the back of your computer.
  2. Use the Media Centre remote that came with your computer.
  3. Click on the green button at the center of the remote.
  4. From the Start screen, scroll to Tasks.
  5. Click Settings and select TV.
  6. Click Set up TV Signal so that Media Center detects the programs and their channels. (This is done once.)set up tv signal media center
  7. Go back to the Start screen.
  8. Hit TV and Movies.
  9. Click Recorded TV and then Add recording.
  10. Use the Guide to find your favorite programs in Media Center.
  11. Find the program you want to record then click Record on your remote.
  12. Click the More button for other options like Record Series.

You can record as many shows as you like depending on the memory on your computer.

Any recorded programs are saved on your computer’s hard drive as a .wtv file.  If you want to watch any programs you have saved, you can go to Recorded TV screen.

Instead of this setup, you could use an app to stream all your favorite content – not just the video content. CyberLink PowerDVD can serve perfectly as a media player for videos, TV shows, music, and photos.

Get the Ultra plan and you receive 100GB of personal storage, so you can easily download your favorite media file in the Cloud and then copy and share it with your friends and family.

You can also rewind, pause, fast forward, or record programs and store them for playback at a later time, record multiple programs at the same time, and burn DVDs of your recorded programs.

Can’t install Linux with Windows 10? Here’s what to do

Microsoft Windows is still the key player in the global OS market. However, the open-source free OS, Linux, is not so far behind and it has a lot of things going for it.

Now, many users who’re well-accustomed to Windows 10 might want to try out Linux, whether for simple curiosity or maybe possible migration from Windows 10.

However, they don’t want to ditch Windows 10 completely for various reasons. And that’s where the dual-boot option comes in handy. But, many of them had issues installing Linux with Windows 10.

We have provided possible solutions to this problem. If you’re stuck installing Linux on Windows 10 PC in a dual-boot mode, make sure to check them out below.

What can I do if I can’t install Linux with Windows 10?

  1. Make sure you have enough space and check storage for errors
  2. Create installation media again
  3. Try booting into Linux from USB/DVD
  4. Install VirtualBox
  5. Try out a powerful in-depth diagnosis tool

1. Make sure you have enough space and check storage for errors

Using Linux in combination with Windows 10 is as simple the task as one would imagine. There are multiple ways to run both systems thanks to the Linux OS nature, as you can see in this dedicated guide.

However, if you’re willing to install Linux just like Windows 10 on one of the partitions, you need to confirm there’s enough storage space.

The dual-boot feature allows you to choose what system you want to boot into when the PC starts.

Linux usually requires a lot less storage space than Windows 10, but you’ll still need at least 8 GB of free storage.

Of course, this varies depending on the version of Linux you try to use and its distro (it can take much more). All the info is easily found in the system requirements for the Linux version you’re trying to install.

Moreover, make sure your HDD isn’t corrupted or try switching between UEFI and Legacy BIOS while booting with the Linux installation media.

2. Create installation media again

  1. Download Yumi Multiboot USB Creator.
  2. Download Linux Mint 19 Tara Cinnamon Edition (1.8 GB) too.
  3. Plugin the USB flash drive (with at least 4 GB of free storage).
  4. Use Yumi to create the bootable drive and finish the setup.
  5. You don’t need to tweak any settings. Just select the USB and then the file source path. This can take some time.

Now, even though the whole procedure of creating the Linux installation media resembles Windows 10 Media Creation Tool, there’s always something that can go wrong.

In order to create the installation media for Linux, you’ll need to use either Yumi or Rufus. Those two are popular third-party tools for ISO-to-USB creation of a bootable drive.

If you’re keen to use the DVD, any image burner will suffice. After that, you need to choose the best-suited version of Linux. And due to the open nature of Linux, there’s a lot to choose from.

Experienced users will most likely know what meets their needs, but if you’re a newbie, we suggest going for Linux Mint 19 Tara with the Cinnamon desktop edition.

Also, we suggest going for the 64-bit architecture, even though you have less than 4 gigs of physical RAM.

Follow the above steps to create a Linux installation media on Windows 10.

3. Try booting into Linux from USB/DVD

  1. Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
  2. Choose Update & Security.
  3. Select Recovery from the left pane.
  4. Under the Advanced startup, click Restart now.
  5. Select Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > UEFI Firmware settings and then Restart.
  6. In the UEFI/BIOS settings menu, choose to boot from the USB.
  7. Plug in your bootable Linux installation drive and restart your PC.
  8. Choose to boot from the USB.

Now, we already noted that Linux can be run in multiple ways. The subject of this article is an issue with the Linux installation, as users are seemingly unable to install Linux with Windows 10 in a dual-boot mode.

However, to confirm that everything is set up properly or even try out the Linux version you’ve decided to install, try booting from the external drive (that being USB or DVD).

This is also a simple operation. The only thing you basically need to do is access to the Boot menu where you can choose to boot from the USB or DVD rather than from the HDD.

After that, just select Linux from the list and run it. If some driver-related issues appear, just press TAB or E and use the nomodeset option.

4. Install VirtualBox

  1. Download VirtualBox by Oracle. Install it.
  2. Open the VirtualBox client and click New.an't install linux windows 10
  3. Name the OS and click Next. Of course, you can use any Linux variation, but we suggest using Mint with Cinnamon (32bit) for starters.
  4. Allocate RAM memory to virtual RAM the VirtualBox client can use with Linux.
  5. Do the same with storage by creating a Virtual Hard Disk.
  6. Allow Linux at least 20 GB of storage space so you can install programs later on without worrying.
  7. Choose the ISO and boot the installation file. The setup should commence immediately.

Now, even if Linux boots and runs properly when running from the external drive, you still might’ve issues with the installation procedure.

With that said, there’s an alternative for this procedure, as you can use the VirtualBox to install and run Linux that way.

This third-party tool allows the creation of a virtual machine that can simulate the PC system within Windows 10. This way, both Windows 10 and Linux will run at the same time.

However, we won’t suggest doing this if you don’t have at least 4 GB of RAM. Yes, this is quite a resource-heavy way to run both systems.

Nonetheless, if the system resources are not an issue for you, running Linux in a VirtualBox environment is rather simple.

That should do it. As the last resort, we can only suggest formatting everything and installing both systems from scratch.

5. Try out a powerful in-depth diagnosis tool

Don’t know what to do when the installing procedure keeps failing? A quick scan by using the Ashampoo WinOptimizer in-depth diagnosis program will most likely give you the answers you’re looking for.

On top of everything, if you choose to use Ashampoo WinOptimizer, a single license lets you use the software on up to no less than 10 PCs.

Therefore, this becomes more than easily installing Linux with Windows 10. It’s also an opportunity to allow your family members to enjoy a premium system optimization and cleaning tool.

⇒ Get Ashampoo WinOptimizer

In case you have any alternative ways to overcome Linux installation issues on Windows 10, please be kind to share them with us in the comments section below.

How to set a static IP in Windows 10 [Easy Setup]

By default, your Windows 10 PC or server is set to use dynamic IP addresses. But when adding the computer to a network, you may be required to set Windows 10 static IP address.

When you use a DHCP or dynamic routing, your router assigns an IP address to your machine each time you restart it.

You need a static IP address on your Windows 10 computer because your router may assign one IP address to multiple devices, and they won’t have connectivity because of the conflict.

That’s just one reason, however. For whatever reason, if you want to set a static IP address, here’s how to do it in Windows 10.

Users sometimes run into challenges after setting static IP addresses, the most common of which is where to system refuses to connect to a static IP address.

Here’s how to fix this issue:

  • Confirm that no other device in your network is assigned the same static IP address.
  • Unplug every cable from your router and reset the router.
  • Rename your network and router, add your computer, and reset.
  • Change the IP address to the subnet mask with the allowed number of connected devices.
  • Add a 2nd computer to the network.
  • Confirm that the default gateway and subnet mask are correct.

How can I set up my static IP address in Windows 10?

1. Set it manually

  1. Right-click on the network icon on your taskbar.
  2. Select the Open Network & Internet settings option.
  3. Click on Change adapter options under the Change your network settings area.change-adapter-options-windows-10-static-ip

  5. Go to Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click on it.
  6. Select Properties below the list.ethernet-properties-windows-10-static-ip
  7. Click on the Use the following IP address option.
  8. Fill in your static IP address.
  9. Enter the subnet mask and default gateway.
  10. Optionally, choose to use the following DNS server addresses and enter your DNS server addresses.
  11. Hit the OK button to save the configuration.

2. Use the Command Prompt

  1. Press the Windows key and search for cmd.
  2. Right-click on Command Prompt and choose to Run as administrator.
  3. In the Command Prompt window, type in the following command and press ENTER:
    • ipconfig /all
  4. Write down the IPv4 address, subnet mask, default gateway, and DNS server addresses.
  5. Type in the following command and hit ENTER:
    • netsh interface ip set address name="Ethernet0" static 10.2.2.212 255.255.255.0 10.1.2
Note: Replace Ethernet0 with the name of your network adapter and change 10.2.2.212 255.255.255.0 10.1.2 to the correct IP address.
  6. To assign a DNS server address, run the following command:
    • netsh interface ip set dns name="Ethernet0" static 10.1.2.1
Note: Replace Ethernet0 with your adapter’s name and 10.1.2.1 with your network’s DNS server address.
  7. To assign an alternate DNS server address, run the following command:
    • netsh interface ip add dns name="Ethernet0" 8.8.8.8 index=2

What to Do if Your Laptop Wakes Up from Sleep on Its Own

People put their PCs or laptops to sleep mode whenever they’re away because it’s a great way to save some battery or power. But sometimes, your computer wakes up from sleep or hibernation on its own, without any user action.

In this article, we’re going to analyze this problem and discuss the best solution.

What causes my Windows laptop to wake up from sleep mode?

The most common causes of sleep mode errors are external peripheral devices, such as a mouse, or even a network card.

Also, some software tends to schedule updates at night or while your computer is in idle mode; an automatic reboot follows the process.

So, to make sure which solution is the best, you first have to determine the cause of your laptop waking up.

You can do that by simply entering a few command lines into the Command Prompt, as shown below:

  1. Press the Windows key and X simultaneously, and select Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. In the Command Prompt enter the following line and press Enter:
    • powercfg - lastwake

You’ll get all the needed information about the last wake of your computer. Under Type, you’ll also see a cause of the wake-up.

Whether it’s a device or a wake-up timer, we’re going to show you the solution for both below.

What can I do if my laptop wakes up from sleep by itself?

1. Update drivers

As mentioned in the beginning, your device might power up from sleep mode on its own because of component issues. This includes outdated drivers.

The simplest way is to update the drivers, either by yourself or by using a third-party app. Using an app to do this job ensures that you’ll get the right drivers, though.

We recommend Fortect Driver Updater, as a reliable and safe tool to scan your laptop for the necessary driver updates.

As long as you are connected to the Internet, when running Fortect Driver Updater you can gain access to the latest versions of your required drivers.

Just download the app using the button below, open it, and allow the tool to scan your system. It will then recommend the necessary actions.

⇒ Get Fortect Driver Updater

2. Check external devices

If you previously determined that a device forces your computer to wake up, it’s probably your external keyboard or mouse, because it’s unlikely that the touchpad could do this.

But besides the external mouse, network cards could also cause unexpected wake-ups. Either way, you’ll need to prevent this device from waking up your computer. To do so, follow the steps below:

  1. Right-click on This PC from the Desktop and click on Properties.
  2. Go to Device Manager from the left panel.
  3. Find the device you think is waking your computer up.
  4. Right-click on it and go to Properties.
  5. Under the Power Management tab uncheck Allow this device to wake the computer.
Allow computer turn off device save power

Prevent hardware from waking up your Windows 10 laptop

This task could also be performed with the Command Prompt. This is a more complex way, but it’s useful if the checkbox for the wake-up function is grayed out and you’re unable to uncheck it.

So, access Command Prompt as shown above and enter one of the following lines:

  • powercfg -devicedisablewake [devicename]
  • powercfg -deviceenablewake [devicename]

For more information, we have guide on how to enable or disable wake on LAN, so don’t forget to check it out.

3. Disable wake timers

If a program wants to schedule maintenance or apply the latest updates, it usually requires Windows to set a wake-up time.

If your computer happens to be in Sleep mode, this timer will automatically wake it up. This might be a useful feature at first, but if you’re away from your computer, it could drain a lot of energy.

To see which timers are turned on, open Command Prompt, and enter this line:

  • powercfg -waketimers
Disable wake timers

If you spot the name of the program whose timer is forcing the computer to wake up, you can open that program and modify the updating routine manually.

But if you can’t spot the program, or there are more one-timers activated, you can deactivate them all at once, just follow these instructions:

  1. Go to Search, type the following to open Power Options:powercfg.cpl
  2. Go to Change Plan Settings, and then to Change advanced power settings.
  3. Find Allow Wake timers under Advanced Settings, right-click and select Disable.

Depending on your OS version, the instructions to follow may be a bit different. Here are the steps to follow on newer Windows 10 versions in order to disable wake timers.

  1. Open Control Panel and click on Hardware and Sound, then on Power Options.
  2. Click on Change plan settings and choose Change advanced power settings.Change advanced power settings
  3. Expand Sleep and Allow wake timers and disable both On battery and Plugged in.
  4. Click Apply.
power option wake up timers

Note that this process disables all-timers. If you have another task that should wake up your Windows 10 computer, well, it won’t work anymore.

However, this should do the trick and hopefully, your computer won’t automatically wake up next time. This will also work if you have an older OS.

If the problem persists, you can use our exhaustive troubleshooting guide on how to prevent Windows 10 from waking up on its own. We also have a guide on ERROR_WAKE_SYSTEM message, so check it out if your PC frequently wakes up.

Now you know why your computer wakes up from sleep and how to stop it. If you have any questions, write them down in the comments below.

Microsoft Teams Breakout Rooms feature rolling out in preview

Microsoft announced in July that a new virtual Breakout Rooms feature would come to Microsoft Teams in the final quarter of 2020. It appears that the meeting hosts will soon have an option to create breakout rooms during Teams meetings. Spotted by Tim Evans, a Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert, the feature has begun rolling out for users running Teams’ preview releases (note: the tweet has since been deleted).

https://twitter.com/edTechEvans/status/1301776724993085440

The Breakout rooms feature is a powerful tool in Microsoft Teams that allows meeting organizers to split a group video or audio call into divergent sessions for smaller group discussions. They can assign users to a room, add/remove/rename the rooms.

Keep in mind that only the organizer of the meeting will see this new Breakout rooms icon, which can be accessed beside the three dots ( . . . ) menu. Clicking on the icon will take users to the Create Breakout Rooms window, which provides different options such as Room settings and Participants.

Create Breakout Rooms Microsoft Teams

The meeting organizer will be able to choose the number of rooms (1-50) from the Room settings, and the Participants section will allow them to assign users (Automatically or Manually) to a room. Finally, click Create Rooms, and the Breakout Rooms window will now appear on the screen.

To assign users to a breakout room, click Assign Participants (as shown in the featured image) and then use the checkboxes to select all the users’ names. Next, click the Assign button, and select the room to assign it to users manually.

At this point, the breakout rooms will be closed for the meeting participants, and the organizer will have to click the Start rooms button to open them for discussion. Finally, to bring all participants back to the larger group when the breakout is complete, click Close rooms. This will notify all the meeting participants that they are being asked to leave the breakout rooms.

The feature is currently listed as under development in the Microsoft 365 roadmap, which indicates that it will be released in October 2020. Considering that the breakout room functionality is now being rolled out to preview users, it shouldn’t be long before it makes its way to the public in the coming weeks.

8 Best DVD Copy Software to Use in 2026

DVD is constantly falling behind flash memory as a media. However, even though they are quite obscure nowadays, it doesn’t mean DVDs are gone.

As a matter of fact, they are more secure for data storing than USB thumb drives.

And what’s a better way to manipulate your DVDs, then to use one of the tools that are available on the market. However, many of them are full of malware, others are not as useful as they may seem.

So for that purpose, we compiled a list of the best DVD copy software solutions that you should take into consideration.

All of them will do the elementary work, and for the advanced features, you should inspect premium tools at the bottom.

What are the best DVD copy software solutions?

WinX DVD Ripper

We’ll start with one of the free versions because, if you’re a standard user, most of the time you won’t need premium features that some of the advanced tools offer.

This tool comes as a Trial for a Platinum version that can be bought later. However, you won’t lose any of the essential features once the trial expires.

You’ll still be able to rip DVDs, with the marginally decreased speed and without support for some crack DRM files.

With WinX DVD Ripper, you can copy/rip DVDs, ISO files, or folders with DVD files. The interface is quite intuitive so you’ll have an easy time managing things around.

Additionally, you can completely customize the output of certain files or use preset profiles to manage formats for different devices and needs.

DVDFab

DVDFab is one of those tools that is great in the premium version, but a bit lackluster in the free version. Yes, you can rip DVDs and Blu-rays, but, that kind of sums up the use of the free version.

However, the premium version is, on the other hand, amazing and quite useful for all kinds of related procedures.

The interface is well-designed, available tools come in abundance with 4 different modules, and it’s not as expensive as DVD Cloner.

DVDFab covers all of the needs of advanced users, including the decryption tool against anti-piracy encryption.

In addition, once you’ve compressed the movie, the quality remains somewhat unchanged.

HandBrake

With the growth of some other media, DVD-related software kind of fell behind.

Due to changes that emerged, a lot of previous software solutions changed their primary role to video editors, encoders, or converters.

Luckily, they did retain previous functions, and you can still use them to rip DVDs.

One of those is a free software solution called HandBrake. Even though this tool is primarily a video encoder/transcoder, it can certainly do so much more.

With this nifty tool, you can use various presets while ripping DVD, with so many features that, if you’re not accustomed to, may create initial problems.

In regards to the interface, this tool is a bit more complex and needs some time for newcomers to get used to it.

However, once you understand it’s surroundings, it will serve you quite well.

⇒ Download HandBrake

MakeMKV

Compared to HandBrake, this is one of the most simplistic but rewarding tools you can find on the market. For free.

Besides DVD rip, this tool can create Blu-rays with a few easy steps. And that’s what’s great about this application: everything is so simple that you’ll have an easy time.

Yes, that also means it isn’t exactly overwhelmed with features, but, as we stated at the beginning, freeware tools are for fundamental rip-related usage.

For advanced features, you’ll need premium tools or a combination of two or more free tools in order to make the things work as intended.

⇒ Download MakeMKV

Freemake Video Converter

Freemake Video Converter is, in our opinion, a sweet spot on this list. It has an intuitive, user-friendly interface, just enough functions, and remarkable support achieved through detailed instructions.

So, if DVD ripping, formats, functions, or editing are somewhat complicated to you, this tool will help you through with step-by-step guidance.

All of the well-known output formats are supported, including some device-specific formats that should let you play certain media files on your phone, tablet or PC.

The drawback is some bloatware that comes with the installation of the app itself. So, make sure to look at the installation process closely.

DVD Shrink

Probably the oldest piece of software you can get in this department. Last updated 12 years ago, DVD Shrink still stands firm when it comes to simplicity and straightforwardness.

This small tool can do almost everything you need when it comes to compressing, ripping or decrypting DVD media files.

Yes, there are some drawbacks, since technology vastly changed since 2005, but it still gets the job done. However, only in combination with some other 3rd-party programs since it’s great for copies but don’t cover ripping.

Its best trait, besides simplicity, must be the compression level. This tool offers amazing results for free, like some much more advanced premium tools do.

⇒ Download DVD Shrink

In the end, we’ll just want to remind you that we don’t support piracy, so make sure to check your local copyright laws.

FIX: Windows 10/11 can’t be installed on GPT partition error

Performing a clean installation of  Windows 10 should be a walk in a park with the resources that users have nowadays.

However, even this simplified task has a few dead ends, errors that require the advanced approach.

One of those errors appears when a user wants to perform a clean install of Windows 10 on a machine for the first time.

It says that Windows 10 can’t be installed on GPT partition or something similar when they select the partition.

If you have a hard time resolving this problem, check our solutions below.

How do I fix the Can’t install Windows on GPT drive error?

  1. Convert HDD to GPT or MBR
  2. Change the compatibility mode in BIOS/UEFI Settings
  3. Create the installation media again with a different drive

1. Convert HDD to GPT or MBR

Paragon

You can convert MBR to GPT and vice versa with some effort.

Actually, the effort can be close to 0 if you use specialized software like Paragon Hard Disk Manager Advanced.

Here’s how you can convert a Basic GPT Hard Disk to MBR in just a few steps:

  1. Launch the program
  2. Click on the Full Scale Launcher or Advanced User Interface link in Express Mode.
  3. Right-click on the Basic GPT Hard Disk in the Disk Map
  4. Select Convert Basic GPT to Basic MBR … (make sure to click outside the partitions to get the hard disk context menu).
  5. Select the number of primary partitions to be created by this conversion. If there are more than four volumes on the disk, only the first three may become primary.

To convert a Basic MBR Hard Disk to GPT you can do exactly the same steps only that at the 3rd step you right-click on the Basic MBR Hard Disk and select Convert Basic MBR to Basic GPT….

Note: Windows has different boot configurations for MBR and GPT Hard Disks. Using these options for a disk with an installed OS will leave the OS unbootable!

2. Change the compatibility mode in BIOS/UEFI Settings

The majority of the contemporary configurations support UEFI/EFI which succeeded legacy BIOS and it’s an improvement in various things.

However, most of the active machines still run on classic BIOS. Now, we must confirm that you can install Windows 1o on either the UEFI or BIOS mode.

The important thing is to concur which is your HDD or SSD compatibility format.

Namely, back in the days, the usual partitioning format (35 years old format) was the only one and it’s the MBR (Master Boot Record).

However, nowadays you have an option to choose between MBR and GPT (GUID Partition Table). And that’s where the installation issues emerge.

You can install Windows 10 on an MBR partition only if the Legacy BIOS or Hybrid mode (dual compatibility for both BIOS and UEFI) are enabled.

If you have a GPT partitioning format on HDD/SSD, an old, BIOS-only motherboard will have a hard time accessing it.

Find out what is your HDD format

  1. Press Windows key + R to open the Run command line. Type diskmgmt.msc and press Enter.
  2. Right-click on the Volume icon in the bottom left and open Properties.windows 10 can't be installed on gpt partition
  3. Under the Volume tab, you should see whether your HDD is in MBR or GPT format.windows 10 can't be installed on gpt partition

What you’ll need to do when the error occurs is to navigate to backup your data. Always do that before formatting or doing anything even remotely related to storage.

Then you should navigate to BIOS settings and enable/disable BIOS Legacy. If you have an MBR partition – enable it, and vice versa for GPT.

Also, make sure to enable AHCI mode instead of IDE if you’re using large storage drives.

Need a bootable media? Here’s how to create Windows 10 installation media with UEFI support

3. Create the installation media again with a different drive

wintousb alternative

Creating the installation media on either USB flash drive or DVD is simpler than ever.

On the other hand, no matter how the Media Creation Tool makes things simpler, it’s worth giving a third-party application a chance if things won’t work for you.

Even though Media Creation tool provides support for both UEFI and Legacy BIOS in its setup, Rufus can enforce one or another.

When accessing the Boot menu, the UEFI-supported installation USB will have the UEFI prefix.

Example:

  • [UEFI] Kingston Traveler 8GB
  • Kingston Traveler 8GB

Another thing which should take your attention is the USB standard. Older Windows iterations won’t provide drivers for USB 3.0 when it comes to booting.

So make sure to use the USB 2.0 for the system installation purposes. And, finally, if you haven’t meddled with the HDD already, make sure to update your BIOS/UEFI.

This is of the utmost importance. You can find the instructions on how to do it in this expert guide.

If you’re having additional problems, we have a great We couldn’t create a new partition error guide that can help you.

That should do it. In case you have any alternative solutions for the problem at hand or a question concerning the enlisted solutions, we encourage you to post them in the comments section below.

Microsoft explains how Adobe Flash will be removed from Microsoft Edge and IE 11 at year’s end

Last year Microsoft announced plans to remove Adobe Flash from all of its browsers by the end of 2020. Microsoft has now released further details about its plans. Of particular note, the built-in plugin for the new Microsoft Edge for Flash will be automatically removed in January 2021. For the legacy Microsoft Edge or Internet Explorer 11, Flash will be disabled by default from January 2021.

Adobe Flash

That’s it for this week. We’ll be back next week with more Windows 10 news.

Microsoft explains how Adobe Flash will be removed from Microsoft Edge and IE 11 at year’s end

Microsoft announced last year its plans to remove Adobe Flash from all of its web browsers by the end of 2020, and today the company shared some important updates about continued support for enterprise customers. Adobe Flash has become pretty much irrelevant in the past decade with the rise of HTML5, and the plugin is also a regular source of security concerns. Adobe will end support for Flash in December 2020, and that’s also when Microsoft plans remove it on the new Microsoft Edge, Microsoft Edge Legacy, as well as Internet Explorer 11.

If you’re using the new Microsoft Edge, the built-in Adobe Flash plug-in will be automatically removed from the browser in January 2021. For the legacy Edge and Internet Explorer 11, Adobe Flash will be disabled by default starting in January 2021, and Microsoft plans to remove it completely from the OS via a patch that will be available in the Microsoft Update Catalog later this fall. “The update will be made optional on Windows Update and WSUS in early 2021 and will be made recommended a few months later. It should be noted that this update will be permanent and cannot be un-installed,” the company explained.

In Summer 2021, Microsoft plans to release a patch to remove all APIs, group policies, and interfaces designed to manage the plugin in the legacy version of Microsoft Edge and Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 10 and Windows 8. However, enterprise users will still be able to access Flash after 2020 via the new IE Mode on the Chromium-based Edge. “Microsoft Edge will allow Adobe Flash Player to load as a plug-in via the Internet Explorer mode feature. Inherently, Internet Explorer 11 will also allow this. Once you make the switch from Microsoft provided Adobe Flash Player, it will be treated as any other third-party plug-in and will not receive Customer Support from Microsoft,” the company explained.

Adobe Flash used to be a major component of the Internet 10 years ago, but the proprietary plugin was not well suited for mobile devices. Apple’s decision to not allow it on iOS devices played and the rise of open standards like HTML5 eventually played a huge role in its demise. Adobe announced the deprecation of Flash back in 2017, but there are still some companies which will need some assistance to finally move away from the plugin. If needed, you can find more information about Microsoft’s Edge IE Mode on this page.

Microsoft Edge 86 and 87 will improve PDF support and more

Microsoft just released Edge 85 as a stable version for everyone and it has some pretty interesting features.

The dev team seems to be relentless in the next developments because they listed a lot of new features in the Microsoft 365 Roadmap site for the next versions, Edge 86 and even Edge 87.

What are the future developments for Microsoft Edge?

What are the new features of Edge 86?

1. Table of Content for PDF Documents

Beginning with Microsoft Edge 86, you will be able to navigate PDF documents using their table of contents, if they have one, of course.

2. Add a custom image to a new tab page

Edge 86 will also bring esthetics improvements by allowing you to change the default image with one of your choosing when opening a new tab page.

The admins will be pleased to know that they can also control this using a group policy so they will probably make a good impression by changing that picture with a customized logo of their company.

3. Secure DNS Support

Microsoft added the settings to control Secure DNS on unmanaged devices. If you work in an enterprise, these settings will be blocked but IT admins will be able to change that using a Group Policy.

4. Version Rollback

This option is specially designed for admins who want to go back to a working Microsoft Edge version if they see an issue with the currently installed version of Edge.

To do that, you will first need to download the MSI for the version you want to revert to from Microsoft’s website.

Microsoft is making Teams meetings participant reports more useful this month

Microsoft is planning to make some important changes to improve its Teams meetings participant reports functionality later this month. The new capabilities have been designed to help companies better manage their attendance reports, according to the company’s most recent update to its Microsoft 365 Roadmap.

The first new feature that the company highlighted is the ability for meeting organizers to download a participant report for a Teams meeting once the meeting is over. Just as a reminder, the participant report is currently only available during active meetings. The participant data disappears once the meeting is ended or a user leaves early. For this reason, the meeting organizers need to download the report while all participants are still present, but this should change soon.

With this new enhancement, Microsoft will allow Teams meeting organizers to download a list of participants directly from the meeting chat (roster view) whenever they want. If the meeting is recorded, the transcript, recording, and attendance report will be grouped together in the chat window (as shown below). Otherwise, the meeting organizers will only see an option to download the participant list.

Download participant list

Another important new update for Microsoft Teams is additional participant data in the report. At this point, meeting organizers can only see the name, join time, and leave time of all meeting attendees. Once the update is available, the participant report will include more details like the duration, meeting start time, meeting title, and email address.

The Microsoft 365 Roadmap entry suggests that the updated functionality for downloading participant reports in Teams meetings will begin rolling out in mid-September, and its generally available is expected in mid-October. The company noted that it’s up to the Office 365 Admins to turn this feature on for all users in their organization.

Microsoft’s new Surface Duo reportedly won’t come to other markets until next year

Two exciting foldable phones will be released in September with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 and Microsoft’s Surface Duo. As you may know, Microsoft’s first Surface “phone” had quite a troubled development cycle with the company ultimately opting for Android instead of a Windows 10-based OS, and the Surface Duo will also come with 2019 specs and lack notable features such as NFC.

The Redmond giant probably disappointed many Surface fans by announcing that the Surface Duo would launch exclusively in the US on September 10, despite the device receiving certification in other markets including Canada. It’s quite understandable that the company wants first to test waters in the US with this new form factor, but Windows Central’s Zac Bowden is reporting today that Microsoft could be getting ready to bring the Surface Duo to more markets next year.

“According to my sources Microsoft is looking to begin shipping Surface Duo in external markets in the first half of 2021 after seeing if the product surpasses internal expectations in the United States first. This plan is fluid, however, and Microsoft could decide to bring its release in other markets forward if circumstances change,” Bowden wrote.

There’s no denying that $1,399 is a lot to ask for a device with last year’s specs that also lacks the complex multiple camera setups found on all flagship smartphones these days. However, Microsoft is clearly targeting Surface fans and early adopters instead of regular consumers with Surface Duo. It remains to be seen if the unique dual-screen design and premium build quality will well be enough to convince enthusiasts in the US to buy a Surface Duo, but our early impressions have been very positive.

Do you hope to see Microsoft release the Surface Duo in other markets next year? Let us know what you think in the comments below, and if you live in the US we remind you that you can already pre-order the Duo from the Microsoft Store, Best Buy, and AT&T.

FIX: Eudora problems on Windows 10/11

Email clients were popular in the past, but as the Internet develops, many users switched to webmail services since they are more practical.

Eudora used to be a popular email client for macOS and Windows alike. It was launched in 1988 and later acquired by Qualcomm in 1991.

The last commercial version of Eudora was released in 2006. Following several attempts to keep it alive, an open-source version of the client was abandoned in 2010.

Even though Eudora is now an outdated email client, some users don’t want to switch, and they continue using it on Windows 10.

Since the email client hasn’t been updated in years, some issues with Windows 10 are expected, and today we’re going to show you how to fix them.

How can I fix Eudora problems on Windows?

1. Install Eudora to the root directory

install eudora in the roots directory

Most Windows applications will be installed by default in C:Program Files directory. But it doesn’t work for Eudora.

So if you want to avoid any problems with this email client, we suggest that you install Eudora on a root directory.

So during installation, be sure to change the directory from C:Program Files to C:Eudora and send the application there.

After doing that, most problems with it will be resolved.

2. Try an alternative email client

We insist on switching to a more modern and reliable email client that’s compatible with your OS. You have a multitude of options, but we recommend you get an email client with integrated productivity features.

Modern email clients can help you open all your emails from all your providers in just one Window. They come with very good search options that help you find emails by using keywords.

Some of them include optical character recognition technologies that allow you to search for images as well. On top of that, you can create a good management system with filtering, tagging, and folders.

Up-to-date email clients will most likely give you fewer issues than Eudora. Not only will you be able to open and manage your emails, but upgraded software have greater security that protects against present-day threats.

3. Move Eudora files and change your registry

  1. First, go to C:Program FilesQualcommEudora
  2. Copy all files from this directory to the following location: C:UsersYour_userAppDataRoamingQualcommEudora

Now you need to make a few changes to your registry. We have to warn you that modifying the registry can lead to certain issues with your PC, so before changing the registry you might want to export it and use that file as a backup.

Then, do the following:

  1. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog.
  2. Type regedit and press OK.
    eudora-problems-regedit-1
  3. Go to the folder below HKEY_CURRENT_USER Software Qualcomm Eudora
  4. Locate CommandLine DWORD and double click it to open its properties.
  5. Change the value from C:Program FilesQualcommEudora to C:UsersYour_userAppDataRoamingQualcommEudora.
  6. Save changes and close the Registry Editor.

After moving the Eudora files and changing the registry, check if the problem is resolved.

4. Make sure that your browser is set as default

  1. Open the Settings app by pressing Windows Key + I.
  2. Now go to System and choose Default apps.
  3. Look for Web browser and make sure that it’s set to your current browser. If not, click it and set the desired web browser.
    eudora-problems-default-1
  4. Now click Choose default apps by file type.
  5. Look for .html and .htm in the list, and select the desired browser.
    eudora-problems-default-2
  6. Go back and click on Choose default apps by protocol.
  7. Now locate HTTP and HTTPS on the list and select default browser for these protocols.
    eudora-problems-default-3

After making the necessary changes, you should be able to open links in Eudora without any problems.

If the issue still persists, you might have to manually copy and open the links as a workaround.

If you have problems with email attachments, simply right-click the attachment and choose the desired application from Open with menu.

5. Uncheck the Use Microsoft viewer option

If you have any problems with opening links in Eudora, you might want to try disabling the Use Microsoft viewer option.

To access this option, navigate to Settings / Viewing mail. Simply disable this option and the links will start working.

Then, enable the Use Microsoft viewer option again, and the issue should be resolved completely.

6. Don’t set Eudora as the default email client

Users reported the following message on their Windows 10 PC after installing Office 365:

Eudora is unable to update the system registry

To fix this problem:

  1. Navigate to Tools / Options and locate the Extra Warnings section.
  2. Check Start Eudora and it’s not the default Mailer.
  3. Restart Eudora. It will ask you to make it a default email program.
  4. Check Don’t ask anymore and click No.
  5. After doing that, Eudora should start working without any problems.

Eudora was a great email client in the 90s, and even though this program works on Windows 10, there are certain issues that can appear, but you can easily solve them by using one of our solutions.

If you don’t manage to solve the problem, you might want to consider switching to a different email client, as suggested in the beginning.

  5. Open Windows Media Player, and press the Stream button again.
  6. Select both Allow Internet access to home media and Automatically allow devices to play my media options.

You can usually select to temporarily disable an anti-virus package via its system tray icon’s context menu.

If you can’t find a turn-off option on the utility’s context menu, have a look through the settings menu on the software’s primary window.

6. Check the Windows Defender firewall settings for Cast to Device

  1. Enter the keyword Windows Firewall in the Cortana search box.
  2. Select Allow an app through Windows Defender Firewall.
  3. Press the Change settings button.
  4. Scroll down to Cast to Device and select both its check boxes.

7. Check the Microsoft LLDP Protocol Driver Setting is Selected

  1. Type network in Cortana’s search box and open Network status.

  3. Select Change adapter settings to open a list of connections.
  4. Then right-click your adapter and select Properties.
  5. Select the Microsoft LLDP Protocol Driver checkbox.
  6. Click the OK button.

iCloud is stuck in waiting for approval from other device

Keeping all your files safe and secured all the time is not very hard as you can pick back up and restore solutions from various cloud storage platforms.

Depending on which device and OS you are using, you can choose to sync your personal files with online platforms such as Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, or iCloud.

The Windows system also supports all these services at once, which means that on your computer you can simultaneously use the Apple, Google, and Microsoft cloud clients.

And, since the goal is to have your data synced without any problems it’s important to make sure that all these clients are running properly.

The Apple iCloud software for Windows 10 is, in that matter, a great utility through which you can easily access your personal info, data, accounts, and files.

For being able to import/export your files through this service you must first sync your data from your Apple device to the iCloud.

Of course, afterward, the iCloud app for Windows 10 must be installed on your machine.

And, finally, you have to run the iCloud tool, enter your credentials, and obtain approval from your iPhone, iPod, or any other i-gadget.

So, if you already completed these steps you should be able to access the files that are stored on the iCloud right from your Windows 10 computer.

However, you might also end up experiencing some issues, among which we can include the iCloud on Windows 10 gets Stuck on waiting for approval error.

As you will see, this particular issue can be easily addressed. But, before heading towards the troubleshoot solution maybe it will be better to understand what is causing the error in the first place.

Thus, let’s take it from the beginning. You launch the iCloud app on your Windows 10 computer, you enter your credentials and then you take your i-gadget where you need to enter your password.

Just submit Approve (for the virtual Windows 10 connection) and wait for the desktop client which must now access your data. But, at this point, the iCloud app hangs at Waiting for approval error message.

As you can tell, something went wrong somewhere between the approval process. Shortly, the desktop app cannot obtain permission from your device – something is blocking the network access.

Good; now that we understand how the sync process works, let’s see how to fix the iCloud on Windows 10 gets Stuck on waiting for approval issue.

Quick Tip:

You can’t keep on waiting for the issue to disappear on its own. iCloud is stuck in waiting for approval from another device and the problem won’t vanish into thin air.

You can either follow the below troubleshooting steps or try out a similar tool from the very start. Zoolz is much more than simply an inexpensive alternative you should consider.

With support for Mac and Windows, an unlimited number of external devices, and quick access from any location via a web browser, it will make you forget all about iCloud.

What can I do if iCloud is stuck in waiting for approval?

1. Add an exception to Windows Firewall

  1. First of all, access Control Panel – right-click on the Windows button and select Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel switch to the Category tab and then click on the System and Security field.control panel system and security
  3. Select Windows Firewall from the next window. Or, you can just select Allow an app or feature through Windows Firewall.control panel windows firewall
  4. Click on Change Settings and just follow on screen-prompts for adding your iCloud exception to the list.add icloud windows firewall
  5. Save your changes, reboot your computer and retry to use the iCloud desktop client as everything should be working like a charm now.

The first step to take is to make sure that the iCloud installation process for Windows 10 was applied correctly.

If you set up the program without completing the steps properly, you can afterward experience different problems, like the one that’s discussed now.

So, right from the start, make sure you know how to install iCloud on Windows 10.

Since there is a connection problem, you must remove everything that might block the iCloud from accessing the approval from your, let’s say iPhone.

In that matter, you need to access your Windows Firewall settings and add the iCloud.exe exception. This is what works almost every time. Use the above steps to add an exception to Windows Firewall.

You can’t open Control Panel? Take a look at this step-by-step guide to find a solution.

2. Enable access for iCloud within the antivirus

try to enable access for iCloud

If an antivirus is running on your Windows 10 computer then you might also have to enable access for iCloud within the antivirus program.

You may even have to disable it if this leads to no result whatsoever.

Hopefully, we managed to fix the iCloud on Windows 10 gets Stuck on waiting for approval issue.

You can use the comments area below if you want to share your experience with us and with other users who might be dealing with the same issue.

How to fix iCloud error 2343 in Windows 10/11

iCloud is one of the most used cloud services worldwide, solely because of the fact that there are a lot of iOS users.

Don’t get us wrong, iCloud is a great cloud service, but it’s known for issues with the Windows desktop client.

One of the most common errors that occur with iCloud in Windows 10 goes by the code 2343. Basically, it prompts you that you’re unable to either uninstall the iCloud desktop app or update it.

For that purpose, we provided you with some of the workarounds that should help you resolve this error. So, if you’ve experienced exact or similar issues, make sure to check the steps below.

How can I resolve iCloud error 2343 in Windows 10?

1. Give a try to Zoolz

install Zoolz
When having to deal with the iCloud error 2343 and similar issues, chances are your initial choice sounds less and less inspired.

Assuming you’re not afraid to try out an error-free alternative, Zoolz is our top recommendation for you. Besides offering a smooth user experience, this time we talk about 256-AES military-grade encryption.

All your precious photos, videos, and files are backed up on Amazon AWS servers, not to mention that it supports Windows and Mac OS and that it is inexpensive. Therefore, it won’t empty your bank account.

Zoolz

If you’re tired of the iCloud error 2343, try out Zoolz. This tool comes with the advantage of being error-free.

2. Update iCloud

try to update iCloud
There are some reports that problems with the iCloud Windows client are gone after an update. So, make sure that you’re running the latest version on your PC before the uninstall.

After updating the desktop client, it should be easier to uninstall it later on. A bit strange occurrence, but, hey, that’s what software issues sometimes look like.

3. Uninstall Office

try to uninstall Office

  1. Right-click Start and open Control Panel.
  2. Click Uninstall a program in a category view.
  3. Navigate to Office and uninstall it.
  4. Restart your PC.
  5. Now, repeat steps and uninstall iCloud if you’re up to uninstall it.

Some users managed to resolve iCloud install/uninstall issues followed by the error code 2343 by uninstalling Office.

As you already know, iCloud can be connected to Outlook to cover some reminders and similar protocols. However, apparently, Outlook 2016, part of the Microsoft Office 2016 pack isn’t supported.

And the extension that connects two programs is the exact reason for a stall. So, you’ll need to make some choices. Either you want to retain Office or fix the iCloud issue with updates/uninstalling.

Hard choice to make, but, if you choose to resolve issues with the iCloud Windows client, it may be worth a shot. Additionally, you can use other Microsoft Office edition later on.

Or, in the worst-case scenario, if the problem is persistent, you can always reinstall Office 2016 and try an alternative approach.

If the update was a problem in the first place, you should be able to update iCloud now.

You can’t open Control Panel? Take a look at this step-by-step guide to find a solution.

4. Tweak the registry

try to tweak the registry

  1. Right-click the Start menu and open Command Prompt (Admin).
  2. In the command line, type the following command and press Enter: reg add "HKLMSoftwareApple Inc.Internet Services" /v MapiSvcDir /reg:32 /t REG_SZ/d%SYSTEMROOT%
  3. Restart your PC and uninstall iCloud.

More than a few users declared a certain registry tweak as a valid solution for this problem.

Registry entry gets deleted for no apparent reason, and that’s the reason why the installer can’t start, and you’ll receive an error with code 2343.

That troubled users resolved this problem by creating a registry edit again.

If you’re having trouble accessing Command Prompt as an admin, then you better take a closer look at this quick guide.
That should do it. Don’t hesitate to post questions or suggestions in the comments section. We’ll be grateful.

Microsoft Flight Simulator breaks Xbox Game Pass for PC records, over 1 million players so far

Microsoft Flight Simulator became one of the highest-rated Xbox Game Studios titles in years when it launched on PC on August 18, and we’ve just learned that the game also had the biggest launch in Xbox Game Pass for PC history. Just like all new Xbox Game Studios titles, Microsoft Flight Simulator launched on Xbox Game Pass on day one, and Microsoft announced today that more than one million unique players have now played the game in just over two weeks.

“It’s been wonderful to see the reactions to Microsoft Flight Simulator from the community, who have flown more than 26 million flights and logged more than 1 billion miles flown to date – the equivalent of flying around the world over 40 thousand times,” said Jorg Neumann, Head of Microsoft Flight Simulator. “Launch marks the beginning of a journey for us and this is just the start. There is plenty more to come on our flight itinerary including world updates, sim updates, and future themed DLC,” he added.

This new Flight Simulator game was announced a year ago at E3 2019, along with Xbox Game Pass for PC. The PC version of Microsoft’s game subscription service is still in beta at a promotional price of $4.99/month, but the catalog already includes over 100 quality PC games including Halo: MCC, Final Fantasy XV, No Man’s Sky, or the freshly-released Crusader Kings III. Seeing Microsoft Flight Simulator, a pretty demanding game becoming the biggest game launch in Xbox Game Pass for PC history probably tells something about gamers’ appetite for this very old franchise, which received an impressive next-gen refresh thanks to developer Asobo Studios.

It’s worth noting that Microsoft Flight Simulator didn’t benefit from a massive marketing campaign either, and that makes this 1 million players numbers even more impressive. The game was completely missing from Microsoft’s big Xbox Game Showcase in July, and we still don’t know when it will be available on Xbox consoles. As these PC numbers show, the game has the potential to become a great attraction for Xbox Game Pass, and the game could probably become a big hit on Xbox consoles as well. This is definitely a game that could really showcase the power of the Xbox Series X, something that the now-delayed Halo: Infinite pretty much failed to do so far.

If you haven’t done it yet, we invite you to read our hands-on with Microsoft Flight Simulator here. The game also received a new patch this week that should solve installation issues for both Microsoft Store and Steam versions. Again, the game is also free to play with Xbox Game Pass for PC, and new subscribers can try the service for just $1/month.

In such a treasure chest of information, it’s really easy to get lost or feel disorganized. So, why not have a single, central hub where you can organize and bring all this information under one place?

That’s where Project Moca preview comes into the picture. It’s a new experience from Microsoft, currently in a preview, which simplifies your workflow so you can focus on what matters. Here’s a hands-on look with the experience.

Launching Project Moca

Project Moca Microsoft Featured Image 2

Currently, project Moca is in preview for Microsoft 365 consumer subscribers, EDU customers, and select commercial customers. To open the experience, you need to click to it from the module switcher on Outlook for the web. That’s the area at the bottom where you have access to your Outlook Calendar.

If you don’t see it there, you need to look for it in the overflow menu at the bottom (the . . . ) If it’s still not available there, you can access Project Moca by going to Outlook.com/Spaces. That’s because Project Moca had another name, known as Outlook Spaces, as we detailed back in February. It’s not clear if Outlook Spaces will be the final name.

Different Templates

Project Moca Creating Space

As soon as you go into Project Moca, you’ll be greeted with the option to choose different types of templates. Some of these include a weekly plan, a project plan, a school plan, a meal plan, or a personal wellness plan. No matter which template you choose, they’ll all be placed on a simple canvas known as a “space,” allowing you to stay on top of information for that specific plan. You also can start from blank, and create your own one, too, if needed. We suggest you start here, so you can play around with Moca and learn the ropes.

For the purposes of this hands-on, we’ll be creating a blank template. Regardless if you choose one of the templates, or start from scratch, the process of adding information types and other materials will be the same. In our hands-on, we’ll be starting from blank and creating a custom template (and space) for our upcoming Surface Duo review. Once a plan is created, you’ll be able to get to it by selecting the “Space” from the main Project Moca page.

Getting Started

Project Moca Getting Started

Once you create a space (or choose a Template) in Project Moca, you’ll have to give it a name. You also can add up to three names and email addresses to be used in the template for search purposes. Finally, you can add keywords, which helps Project Moca pull out information from Microsoft’s services to help you create that template. There’s also a drop-down menu to choose a template type, as well.

The Canvas

Project Moca Canvas

Now that you created a space in Project Moca, you’re free to start editing it and adding more information. A bit like Microsoft Whiteboard, the canvas in Project Moca has a few different tools, and all of them are used to add things to your canvas.

You’ll see these tools all in the toolbar at the side of the screen. It can be collapsed at any time by clicking Hide Toolbar. From here, you can add a bucket, a note, a file, link, task, goal, or weather. There’s also the ability to add a location or a person too. You can even zoom out to add more content, by clicking the magnifying glass in the bottom right corner of the screen. Finally, anything you add to the canvas can be dragged around, as you see fit.

We’ll start first by creating a bucket. In Project Moca, a bucket allows you to drag certain items into a central hub of sorts, to organize your space a bit more. We created a main bucket for “things for Surface Duo Review” and will be dragging some notes into it, created fusing the Note tool. If you want, you can change the color of the bucket, or set the due date as well. Anything you create in Moca can be dragged into a bucket. You also can change the color for anything you add in Moca, as well.

Next up, we’ll talk about some of the other things you can add to the canvas in a space on Project Moca. You can create Notes, just as you would a sticky note in Windows 10. These notes will sync up to your Windows 10 PC, too. You also can add files, as well. Any added file will come from your OneDrive account. Additionally, you can add a link to a relevant webpage, or create a task. Tasks will be saved to To Do. Finally, any goal added to Space will be saved to Outlook.

Adding additional content, and email messages

Project Moca Emails

Another interesting point about Project Moca is the ability to drag in emails to your canvas and space. You can do this by clicking the search icon at the top right corner of the screen. When done, You’ll see a list of your messages from Outlook. To put it on the canvas, just click it and choose to add to canvas. You can also drag items, too, if need be.

This is a super useful feature for when you want to keep an email handy in relation to your ongoing space. If you want, you also can do the same thing with events, too. And, you can “capture” an email by clicking Add to Project Moca from the . . . menu from your email in your Outlook inbox.

Check it out now and let us know your thoughts!

Project Moca is a super cool experience, and it definitely is a nice take on Trello and other task management tools. It allows you to bring all things Microsoft related to work or play, right under one central place to help you stay organized. Software to Read Mac Drive on Windows PC: 3 Best to Use

It’s obvious that Windows PCs and Mac computers are quite different. But besides their many significant differences, there are also smaller distinctions that separate Microsoft’s and Apple’s operating systems.

For example, Windows and Mac computers use different file systems for reading hard disks and removable drives. As you may have heard, Windows uses the NTFS file system, while Mac uses HFS+.

Alternatively, most hard drives and USB flash drives are formatted with the FAT32 file system, recognized by both PCs and Macs.

That way, wider compatibility means more customers. However, some people might need to load an HFS+ drive but don’t have a Mac nearby.

How to read a Mac-formatted drive on a Windows PC?

Paragon HFS+ – Full integration with File Explorer

Paragon HFS+ is a feature-rich tool that supports multiple Mac file system formats, such as HFS+ (Mac OS Extended), JHFS+ (Journaled Mac OS Extended), HFSX (Case-sensitive Mac OS Extended), and JHFSX (Case-sensitive, Journaled Mac OS Extended).

When mounting a volume in write mode you can do anything with the files, read, edit, delete, rename, or create new.

Paragon HFS+ also has built-in systems for data safety, you don’t have to worry about data integrity because it can prevent accidental data corruption and loss.

Paragon HFS+ also offers full integration with the File Explorer so that you can open the HFS+ drive from basically anywhere.

The developer promises a satisfying performance, which is another plus for this program.

So, if you need to perform this action only once, you can take advantage of the free trial, and get the job done free of charge.

On the other hand, if you frequently need to manage HFS+ drives on your computer, paying this fee is still a pretty good deal.

HFS Explorer – Very easy to use

HFS Explorer is probably the program you’re going to use for this action, especially if you need to read a Mac-formatted drive for free on your Windows.

The reason for using HFS Explorer is because, first and foremost, it’s free, unlike other programs from this list. Additionally, it’s quite simple to use and doesn’t require much effort.

To access data from an HFS+ drive with HFS Explorer, connect the drive, open the program, and go to File > Load File System From Device.

HFS Explorer will automatically recognize the drive and show its content. From here, you can manage and export files and folders from the drive to your computer.

Keep in mind that HFS Explorer is a read-only program, so you can’t copy files from your computer to the hard drive.

If you want to have full control over your HFS+ hard drive in Windows, you’ll have to try some of the paid solutions listed in this guide.

Additionally, to be able to use HFS Explorer, you need the Java runtime environment installed on your computer.

⇒ Get HFS Explorer here

MacDrive 11 – Can repair disks

MacDrive is a solution for more advanced users who really need to get the most out of their HFS+ drives.

It offers complete integration with File Explorer, which makes HFS+ drives extremely easy to use on Windows computers.

MacDrive’s newest version also provides full support for Apple’s new file system APFS to Windows. You get full read-and-write support, APFS crash protection, multi-volume APFS disks, and APFS formatting.

Perhaps the biggest standout of this program is the ability to repair disks and manage partitions. With all these options, Mediafour’s MacDrive allows users complete control over HFS+ drives on Windows.

All these features come with a price of $50 ($49.99 to be more exact). However, just as in the case of Paragon‘s program, you can also take advantage of the free trial. With MacDrive, it only lasts for five days.

⇒ Get Mediafour MacDrive here

Alternative solution: Use iCloud

Additionally, you can open .page files on Windows 10 by using iCloud. In order to do this, all you need is your Apple ID and a browser.

Here’s how:

  1. Launch your browser and go to iCloud.com.
  2. Use your Apple ID to sign in. Now, go to Pages > Settings > Upload Document.
  3. Select the pages that you want to upload and edit.
  4. You can then click on Tools and select Download a Copy to get a copy of the respective files on your Windows 10 PC.
  5. Select Word to export the documents in Word format on your PC.

And this is how you can read Mac-formatted documents on your computer without downloading any software solution.

Don’t format the drive by yourself

As soon as you connect a Mac-formatted drive to a PC, you’ll be asked to format a drive. The following message will appear: You need to format the disk in drive X: before you can use it.

If you choose to format, it will erase everything from the drive, leaving an empty space.

This is fine if you just want a free drive to use, but if you have some data to access, click Cancel and use one of the following programs to make the hard drive readable.

In that case, we should seek help from a third-party solution. A few useful programs allow us to read HFS+ drives on our Windows PCs without formatting them.

Even more, our detailed guide on how to open SKV files on Windows and Mac will show you how to deal with not being able to view SKV files natively (using the built-in applications).

In the end, we hope you’ll find these solutions satisfactory in order to solve your issue. If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions, just let us know in the comments section below.

Formatting Software for Windows 10: Best to Use in 2026

Most computer users have one physical hard disk drive on their PCs and one partition that is labeled C. But you can create more than one partition on your computer, and this brings some advantages.

If you have two partitions, one for the operating system and the other for all your personal data, your data is less likely to get lost forever in case of a cyber apocalypse, aka computer crash.

For a quick definition, a partition is simply a way to tell your computer that you want to split your hard disk into many logical drives. Each and every partition will be treated as a separate drive. To list all the partitions on your computer, go to My Computer/This PC, and you will find all the drives on your computer.

There are many reasons why you should use more than one partition on your PC: you can enhance data protection and PC performance, use multiple operating systems on the same PC, you can speed up defragmentation, and more.

Another important issue after creating a partition on your hard drive is the format process. We’ll briefly explain why this process is necessary and beneficial for your computer.

Formatting a hard drive

Over time your computer’s hard drive may experience some malfunctions due to wear and tear, viruses or software which can cause system conflicts and slow down your PC. Formatting the hard drive on a yearly basis should be a vital thing to do for your system’s health. Another good idea is to take a few precautions to wipe a hard drive so that your personal data will not be recovered especially if you have an older computer that you may want to sell.

Reformatting an operating system such as Windows will wipe out all of your data, clean the overloaded registries, and get rid of viruses that have been causing lots of damage to the system.

Before you format a hard drive you should run a virus utility program to clean the operating system. The process will prevent any corrupt files from reattaching themselves to your reinstalled or new operating system. After this, you should back up any data that you plan to keep on an external drive and then start the formatting process.

After you format a hard drive and reinstall the operating system, all the glitches and issues should disappear, and the overall performance of your computer should improve significantly.

There are several options when it comes to disk formatting. We recommend using dedicated software because it automates a big part of the process and is built to ensure error-free results.

What are the best partition formatting tools for PCs?

How to Properly Dual-Boot Windows 10 With Another OS

You probably already heard that it is not recommended to install Windows 10 as your primary operating system, but if you really want to use it there are a couple of methods which will allow you to use it, along with your current system. And one of these methods is dual-boot.

Performing a dual-boot is not a complicated task. Here’s what you need to do to complete it successfully:

  1. Shrink your System Partition to make enough space
  2. Download the Windows 10 ISO file
  3. Install Windows 10 alongside your current system
  4. Choose which Operating System you want to boot

How do I dual boot Windows 10 and another OS?

The present article will guide you through the dual-boot process. For more information on specific operating systems you choose to team up on your computer, also check these articles:

  • Dual Boot Windows 10 and Ubuntu – follow along with the instructions below. Since Windows 10 has settings that are not optimal for dual boot setups, you might encounter some issues. Here is a specific guide to fix Ubuntu Windows 10 dual boot.
  • dual boot Windows 10 and Linux – many of them had issues with this one. If you’re stuck installing Linux on Windows 10 PC in a dual-boot mode, make sure to check this tutorial.
  • dual boot Windows 7 and Windows 10 – you can easily dual boot Windows 7, or any other version of Windows, and Windows 10 Preview build by following this guide.
  • dual boot Windows 10 and Windows server – in our dedicated article, you can see a good example of how to install Windows Server 2012 R2 as the second OS on a machine. The same steps also apply to the Windows Server 2016 or the older 2008 R2 which was based on the same kernel as Windows 7.
  • dual boot Windows 10 and Endless OS – find the guide in this article.

Shrink your System Partition to make enough space

First, you’ll need to make space for Windows 10 on your hard drive. If you have two different hard drives in your computer and one of them is empty, you can skip this part. But you’ll probably want to install Windows 10 alongside Windows 7 or 8 on the same hard drive.

Before you install another operating system on your computer, you’ll need to free up some space for it. If you have two different disk drivers in your machine, and one of them is empty, you don’t need to do anything. But, you probably want to install Windows 10 on the same partition as your current system.

To free up some space for your new operating system, you’re going to use the Disk Management Utility, which is built-in feature in Windows 7 or 8.

To run Disk Management Utility follow these steps:

  • Hit the Windows Key and R, then type diskmgmt.msc into the Run dialog box
  • press Enter to launch it
  • Locate your system partition, which is probably C:
  • Right click on it and choose Shrink Volume.
disk management tool

This feature will free up some necessary space, and you’re good to install the new operating system on the same partition as your current OS. System requirements of Windows 10 Technical Preview say that you’ll need at least 20 GB of free space, same as for Windows 8 or Windows 8.1, but you’ll probably want to have more free space than that.

After the shrinking is done, you can download Windows 10 from Microsoft’s website, and continue the process.

This can also be one via third-party partition managers which can do the job faster, in a much safer manner, and you don’t need so many steps either.

One great example is Aomei Partition Assistant Professional, a tool that can allow anyone with basic knowledge of English to do whatever they want to their partitions, including shrinking them.

Simply launch the program, select the partition in question, and then select from the toolbar what is it that you want to do with it.

Also, don’t forget to backup your data before you install a new operating system. Although it shouldn’t delete any of your existing files, you should perform a backup, just in case.

Download the Windows 10 ISO File

After you prepared your hard disk drive for installation of the new operating system, you should download it from Microsoft’s site. Download a Windows 10 ISO file and either burn it onto a DVD or make a bootable USB flash drive.

After you do that, leave your DVD or USB Flash in your computer, and restart it. It should automatically start the installation, but if it doesn’t, change the boot priority in BIOS.

Install Windows 10 alongside your current system

Now, install Windows 10 Technical Preview normally.

Select your language and keyboard layout and proceed to Install now.

After agreeing on the license agreement, choose Custom: Install Windows only (advanced), because it will install the fresh copy of windows on your desired partition.

If you choose Upgrade option, it will upgrade your current operating system to Windows 10.

install windows 10

The Where do you want to install Windows? will window appear. You’ll notice an Unallocated Space option, this is the space you shrank earlier. Choose Unallocated Space and New, to create a new partition in the empty space.

A Size box will appear asking you how big you want your new partition to be. You should use all the free space (which is also a default option), and just click Apply to create a new partition.

dual-boot Windows 10 choose partition

League of Legends won’t update on PC [FULL FIX]

League of Legends is a popular online game played by millions worldwide. As it’s the case with any software, there are several errors that affect the gameplay experience.

Failing to update to the latest version is one of the causes; it also affects several patches of the game.

Error messages that are commonly displayed include Unspecified error occurred, Check logs for more information, or similar.

Most importantly, many beginners could find this hard to resolve as the error messages tend to be vague and not informative. And, as a result, they might give up playing the game, altogether.

Even expert gamers are challenged when such messages pop up.

The updating issues can be resolved with some solutions, however, after testing them, users got mixed results.

So if a particular solution that we’ve listed below doesn’t work for you, try the next one until you get your game updated.

How can I get League of Legends to install updates?

  1. Reinstall League of Legends
  2. Temporarily disable your antivirus
  3. Use an Executable patch to run the game
  4. Change the Update client

1. Reinstall League of Legends

resinstall league of legends

Reinstalling a game is one of the best options when having update problems.

However, since League of Legends is an online game, you would need to have a good Internet speed to reinstall the game. Again, using the VPN recommended in the previous solution will be of great help.

With the fresh installation, you automatically get the latest patch version of the game, eliminating the updates issue.

2. Temporarily disable your antivirus

fix league of legends update

It is common knowledge that some antivirus tools tend to interfere with online gaming activities. As a result, the antivirus could be blocking the connection to the game servers, compromising the updating process.

If the previous solutions didn’t help, disable your antivirus before launching League of Legends, and then run the updates.

However, in some situations, you may need to uninstall the antivirus before running the update.

Note: The antivirus is an essential program for your system. Instead of completely disabling it, we recommend you use one that won’t interfere with LoL, such as Bitdefender.

Choose an antivirus for gaming because you can set them up to temporarily pause intrusive notifications while you are in the game. They run in the background, but don’t interrupt.

3. Use an Executable patch to run the game

Use an Executable patch to run the game

Using an executable patch to update your game is actually better than running automatic updates. And there are several websites offering these patches.

Besides saving time,  a patch can easily be removed if errors occur.

For this purpose, the game developers have inserted a patcher in the game folder. It can serve as an alternative if the game updates are not working properly.

To access this patcher follow this steps:

  1. Open your League of Legends folder.
  2. Click on the Rad folder.
  3. In the drop-down list, click on Projects.
  4. Select lolpatcher and click on releases.
  5. Select the file folder with numbers in its name.
  6. Select Deploy.
  7. This leads to the deploy folder where you would see an executable file named LoLPatcher.exe.
  8. Run the executable file.

This will update your game to the latest League of Legends version.

4. Change the Update client

fix league of legends update bugs
  1. Go to the League of Legends folder.
  2. Click on C:Riot GamesLeague of Legends.
  3. Search for the file User.cfg and open using Notepad.
  4. Change the input of the following character LeagueClientOptIn = yes to LeagueClientOptIn = no (Note: It is important you make sure you input the right characters.)
  5. Save and exit.
  6. Launch your game.

There you go, we hope that these quick suggestions helped you fix your LoL update error.

If you come across other workarounds, feel free to list the steps to follow in the comments below.

Windows 10 Insider build 20206 is out with Voice Typing, improved Emoji picker and touch keyboard

Heads up Windows Insiders, the Windows 10 Insider build 20206 is now available in the Dev Channel with some exciting new features. The first interesting addition is Windows Voice Typing, which is an evolution of Windows dictation that’s now optimized for use with touch keyboards. 14 languages are currently supported including English, French, Spanish, German, and Portuguese, and Voice typing will support auto-punctuation and intuitive voice commands.

Voice typing will roll out to just a subset of Dev Channel Insiders at first, so don’t worry if you don’t see it immediately. The Windows Insider team also noted that Insiders may experience random pauses while using the feature in some Office apps, but clicking the microphone icon or using the dedicated Win + H shortcut should restart the listening experience.

Windows 10 Voice keyboard

The build 20206 also brings some changes to the Emoji Picker, which gets an acrylic background, Emoji search, and animated GIF support powered by Tenor. Microsoft is also combining input and clipboard history, and the latter will now show up when switching to the “Clipboard” category after pressing the WIN + [.] or WIN + [;] shortcuts. Again, these improvements for the Emoji picker will only roll out to a subset of Insiders who install this new build today.

The revamped emoji picker is your one-stop for expressing yourself with quick access to emoji, kaomoji, symbols, animated GIFs and your clipboard.

Some Insiders will also notice a new touch keyboard after installing the new bits. “The updated design includes a fresh aesthetic and many other small tweaks, including updated key sizes / layouts to optimize for typing comfort & accuracy. We have also done some work to help improve discoverability and usability of available features,” the Windows Insider team explained today.

The redesigned touch keyboard offers quick access to emoji and animated GIFs so you and express yourself any way you like while typing in Windows.

Another important change to the touch keyboard is the ability to hold and drag on the spacebar to move the cursor. This has been a popular request from Insiders, but once again, only a subset of them will see this new feature after installing today’s build.

Press and hold on the space bar on the touch keyboard to move the cursor on your screen.

This build also brings other minor changes, bug fixes, and known issues, and you can find the full list below:

Changes and Improvements

  • When annotated content and linked control Narrator commands are invoked on context which doesn’t have any linked controls available, Narrator will now say “No linked item”.
  • When setting focus to Windows Explorer in the Processes tab of Task Manager, we’re updating the keyboard shortcut for the Restart option to now be Alt + R.

Fixes

  • We fixed an issue where the new option to enable DNS encryption wasn’t persisting update.
  • We fixed an issue leading to certain apps not launching due to nlsdl.dll being missing.
  • We fixed a race condition in the last few builds that could result in some Insiders experiencing scaling issues after waking their PC from sleep when using multiple monitors.
  • We fixed an issue that could result in the Narrator Home crashing when using the back button.
  • We fixed an issue where after adding a VPN connection, Narrator focus would move to the Settings home button rather than read that the VPN connection had been successfully added.
  • We fixed an issue from the last two flights resulting in Office documents opening blank when opened from File Explorer rather than from within the app.
  • We’ve fixed an issue in the Mail app preventing syncing with certain mail services.
  • We’ve fixed and issue causing some devices to receive bugchecks with error code KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION.
  • We fixed an issue that could result in Task Manager erroneously indicating that a non-UWP app had been suspended. We’ve mitigated an issue with the previous build causing some devices to download larger than normal amounts of data during the update process. This may have resulted in slower downloads and disk space warnings. If you continue to experience the issue with this build, please file a new feedback.
  • We’ve made improvements to address issues where the new taskbar experience for pinned websites wasn’t working for some websites. If you continue encountering issues, please ensure you’re running the latest version of Microsoft Edge Dev or Canary, and report the issue using the Feedback button in Microsoft Edge if you are.

Known issues

  • We’re looking into reports of the update process hanging for extended periods of time when attempting to install a new build.
  • We’re working on a fix to enable live preview for pinned site tabs.
  • We’re working on enabling the new taskbar experience for existing pinned sites. In the meantime, you can unpin the site from the taskbar, remove it from the edge://apps page, and then re-pin the site.
  • We’re investigating reports of some Office applications crashing or missing after updating to a new build.
  • We’re investigating reports of the Settings app crashing when opening Manage Disks and Volumes.
  • We’re working on a fix for the Linux kernel not being installed when using the `wsl –install` command in the Windows Subsystem for Linux. For an immediate workaround run `wsl –update` to get the latest kernel version.

Microsoft has been consistently releasing new builds on Wednesdays this past couple of weeks, though today’s flight comes a bit later than usual. It will certainly be a bit frustrating for Insiders to not have access to all new features immediately, though the Windows Insider team promised that Voice Dictation, the new Emoji picker, and the redesigned touch keyboard would soon be generally available in the Dev Channel.

For Honor connection issues on Windows 10/11 [FULL FIX]

People love the idea behind Ubisoft’s For Honor. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a game that simulates medieval combat so well while adding up much-needed complexity. And that’s exactly what convinced players to buy this game.

The game’s single-player mode seems rather like an extended tutorial that lasts for about 6 hours. On the other hand, the multiplayer mode is the real gem, although still a hidden gem for some players.

Numerous users reported disastrous Internet connectivity when launching For Honor. The game’s official Steam page is flooded with negative reviews from players who constantly fail to connect to duels, and other multiplayer modes.

Here’s what some of them say:

  • The game in a nutshell: A connection error has occured. Returning to main menu.Don’t waste money and time until this gets fixed.
  • It’s a great game. I really like it. and it’s the friendliest community I’ve met in a LOOOONG while. There’s only one problem, you will have connection problems more often than not because someone thought than not having dedicated servers was a good idea.
  • Fifteenth attempt at completing a game, finally about to kill the last guy. A connection error has occured. Returning to main menu.

As one player stated on the forums, it’s unacceptable for Ubisoft to allow so many connection issues in a game that boasts with the multiplayer mode.

Ubisoft needs to do something immediately if they don’t want to end up with another solid game ruined by technical issues.

Still, while we wait for Ubisoft to fix the ongoing problem, perhaps by releasing a patch or two, we can try to solve connection problems on our own.

So, see below a few solutions we’ve gathered. They might help you with dealing with connection issues in For Honor.

How do I fix For Honor connection issues?

Here are some common issues reported by users.

  • For Honor servers unreachable – Sometimes you might encounter a problem with For Honor due to your antivirus. To fix the issue, be sure to check if your antivirus or firewall interfere with the game.
  • For Honor matchmaking failed, connection failed – These messages can appear if the necessary ports aren’t forwarded. To fix that, it’s advised to open your router’s configuration and forward the necessary ports.
  • For Honor 7-00000005 – Reset your hosts file to default and check if that solves the issue.
  • For Honor connection error 0006000037 – If you encounter this error message, you might be able to fix the problem simply by enabling UPnP feature on your router.
  • For Honor connection error has occurred/ session has been lost – Try one of our solutions detailed below.

1. Check your antivirus

According to users, the most common cause for For Honor connection issues might be your antivirus. To fix the problem, first, you need to add For Honor in your list of exceptions in both your antivirus and firewall.

This process varies for each antivirus application, so you might need to look for a guide on how to add exceptions in your antivirus/firewall. If the game isn’t blocked by your antivirus/firewall, your next step would be to disable certain antivirus features and check if that helps.

We don’t advise for disabling the antivirus altogether, though, but rather for using a program that does not interfere with other processes.

You can find many antivirus options nowadays and many of them provide top-level protection without compromizing on PC speed or affecting other apps.

The best antivirus software to boost your gaming should include a game mode. This is a functionality that pauses all intrusive notifications while you are in the game. The antivirus is still actively protecting your system but does not interrupt you.

2. Stabilize your Internet connection

fix internet connection for honor

While advertised as a streamer’s best friend, we’d say that Sppedify is a gamer’s best friend.

Speedify is a VPN that detects, protects, and prioritizes video and audio streams, thus adjusting to network conditions.

The result is an enhanced gaming experience, due to faster and smoother Internet connectivity that is dynamically distributed across all your connections, depending on what you are doing on your PC.

Speedify also monitors incoming traffic to report on connection usage, latency, and packet loss. This way you can see how to better manage your network settings.

⇒ Get Speedify

3. Uninstall and reinstall the game

Some players suggest that the most effective solution for this problem is to simply uninstall and reinstall the game.

So, the first thing you’re going to do is to uninstall For Honor completely. It’s very important to delete the For Honor folder, as well. It usually takes up to 1GB of space.

Better still, use a third-party uninstaller tool to make sure that you get rid of any traces of the game.

Uninstaller software can successfully remove all lingering files that a normal uninstallation would not be able to. They scan your whole PC for leftover files and permanently delete them.

This is very helpful because it optimizes your PC by removing unnecessary data while allowing you to reinstall problematic apps and also remove stubborn ones.

4. Check your ports

If you still experience connection issues, you can try with forwarding ports in your modem. The following ports need to be forwarded for the best possible experience:

  • Uplay PC
    • TCP: 80, 443, 13000, 13005, 13200, 14000, 14001, 14008, 14020, 14021, 14022, 14023 and 14024
  • Game Ports
    • Inbound UDP: 3075

5. Restart your modem/router

For Honor matchmaking failed

Sometimes issues with your modem or router can interfere with For Honor and cause connection issues to occur. To fix the problem, it’s advised that you turn off your router and modem. Wait for a few moments and then turn the modem/router back on again.

Wait for a few moments while your router boots. After the Internet connection is established, try to run For Honor again and check if the issue is resolved.

6. Enable UPnP

enable UPnP

According to users, sometimes your ports aren’t properly forwarded and that can lead to connectivity issues in For Honor. To fix that, you can manually forward the ports or you can turn on UPnP feature.

If you’re not familiar, UPnP stands for Universal Plug and Play, and thanks to this feature, applications can automatically forward the required ports. To enable this feature, you need to open your router’s configuration page, locate UPnP feature, and enable it.

To see how to properly do that, we advise you to check your router manual for detailed instructions. Once you enable this feature, check if the problem is still there.

7. Reset the hosts file

Reset hosts file

Connectivity issues with For Honor might also be related to your hosts file. Sometimes this file can be altered by a third-party application, and that will prevent you from connecting to For Honor’s servers.

However, you can fix the problem simply by resetting the hosts files. We already wrote a detailed guide on how to reset hosts file on Windows 10, so be sure to check it out for more instructions.

Keep in mind that sometimes you might encounter certain issues while modifying this file. If you get an Access denied message while editing the hosts file, so be sure to check it out.

Once you reset your hosts file to default, check if the problem is still there.

8. Flash your DNS

  1. Open Win + X menu. You can do that by pressing Windows Key + X shortcut. Now choose Command Prompt (Admin) or PowerShell (Admin) from the list.
For Honor connection with session has been lost
  2. When Command Prompt starts, enter ipconfig /flushdns and press Enter to run it.
    For Honor servers unreachable

After running this command, your DNS cache will reset and the problem should be resolved.

9. Check for problematic third-party applications

  1. Press Windows Key + R and enter msconfig. Then click OK.
For Honor connection error has occurred
  2. Go to the Services tab and check Hide all Microsoft services. Now click Disable all button.
    For Honor servers unreachable
  3. Go to the Startup tab and click Open Task Manager.
    For Honor connection failed
  4. A list of startup applications will appear. Select the first item on the list, right-click it, and choose Disable from the menu. Repeat this step for all applications.
    For Honor 7-00000005
  5. Close Task Manager and go to the System Configuration window. Click Apply and OK and restart your PC.
    For Honor connection error 0006000037

Once your PC restarts, check if the problem is still there. If not, you can enable services and applications one by one until you find the problematic application.

Once you find it, use the uninstaller software recommended above to remove it completely from your PC. Afterward, the issue should be completely resolved.

Unless the problem lies with the game, not your computer, these solutions will surely be helpful.

So what’s your experience with For Honor so far? Let us know in the comments below.

Microsoft’s next-gen smart glasses could be sleeker than ever

There’s no shortage of interesting ideas from Microsoft these days, just like the patent for the multilingual keyboard.

Now, looking a bit deeper, we found another gem, a Micro LED Display System patent published just a few days ago.

It’s obvious to say that the company will rely on their precious information from their HoloLens but the new ones promise to be a lot more thin and easy to wear.

What are the smart glasses that Microsoft is working on?

First of all, the biggest problem for HMDs today is the bulkiness that makes them harder to wear.

According to the patent, Microsoft tackles that by incorporating microLED projectors, three to be precise, that will form an image by combining the RGB images from each.

Microsoft details the description in the specifications section of the patent presentation:

Features of the present disclosure implement a MicroLED display system that incorporates a plurality of monochrome projectors (e.g., three MicroLED projectors) to generate three monochrome images (e.g., red, blue, and green images) that are separately input into a single waveguide of the HMD and combined to form an image that is displayed to the user.

By incorporating fewer elements, Microsoft is aiming for a much sleeker design than the classic HMDs.

Interestingly enough, the pair doesn’t include a camera, one of the features that led to privacy concerns in the case of the abandoned Google Glasses for instance.

The patent doesn’t describe any controls for the glasses although we can assume that it will be done through a wireless interface with your smartphone and computer.

Probably we won’t see Microsoft’s glasses any time soon but in the meantime, check our list with the best VR headsets for gaming.

What do you think about Microsoft’s project? What do you think about smart glasses? Let us know in the Comments section below

Intel’s rebranding may start with a new Microsoft product

It’s not a secret for anyone who knows a little bit about the market that Intel is not walking on rose petals right now. After they delayed the production of their 7nm chips, they need any nudge in the right direction.

And that is coming from the obvious place, their old friends from Microsoft.

Panos Panay could hint Intel’s rebranding

The famous leaker WalkingCat posted a clip on Twitter featuring Microsoft‘s CPO Panos Panay who is reinforcing his belief in the partnership with Intel.

Mostly it’s about things that we already know about the two companies collaborating better than ever but in the end, Panay is hinting something interesting:

I think that energy that energy between our two companies comes together tenfold when we’re working together and thinking about what that might be. And we see that today, we see it in the future products that we’re making.

Of course, that means that we should expect new products from the two companies working together. But the CPO’s short speech is not ending with Microsoft’s logo but with Intel’s logo.

A new Intel logo.

What device could be next for Microsoft and Intel?

That’s where another tweet from WalkingCat could help. He is asking if Larkin is a Microsoft Surface code name.

Microsoft Surface devices are, of course, landmark products born from the collaboration between Microsoft and Intel so we’re just trying to connect the dots here.

Another user reinforced the hypothesis of Larkin being a Microsoft Surface code name by saying that writer Mary Jo Foley could have said that in a Windows Weekly episode.

Is Intel rebranding? Will we see another secret device marking that rebranding? These are just guesses but they stick together pretty well right now.

Feel free to write your thoughts in the Comments section below.
