Microsoft Edge is getting a new search experience that’s designed to let users perform a reverse image search in a sidebar. As spotted by Reddit user Leopeva64-2, the company is currently testing the sidebar search option with select Insiders on the Dev channel, but we noticed that it’s available in Edge Canary, too.
With the sidebar search, Microsoft Edge users will be able to run reverse image searches in a side panel without leaving the current tab. The search functionality is performed with Bing, and currently, the web browser isn’t offering an option to change the search engine to Google. It is similar to the “Search in sidebar” feature which was introduced to Edge stable back in January this year, and it allows users to search for information on the web.
To try out this feature, Edge Insiders will need to right-click on an image and then select the “Search in sidebar for image” option from the context menu. Search results will immediately show up in a dedicated pane on the right side of the page, showing web results and a list of related content. The feature also extracts text from the image directly and provides an option to copy it.
The reverse image search capability is only available in the most recent Microsoft Edge Canary and Dev versions at the time of writing. It appears to be a controlled rollout, as the feature isn’t available for everyone yet. This search experience will need to go through different Edge Insider channels before it becomes generally available in the production version of the web browser.

Some users reported that the Windows 10 Programs Compatibility Troubleshooter doesn’t work for them. When those users try to launch it, the troubleshooter displays a loading error message with code.
The compatibility troubleshooter also hangs on detecting issues for some users. This can be a problem, but we’ll show you how to fix it in today’s guide.
Why is the Compatibility troubleshooter not working?
It may be a significant issue when the Compatibility troubleshooter stops functioning, and any of the following could be easy triggers:
Malware or virus – infections on your device are a primary cause of malfunction with the Compatibility troubleshooter.
Corrupted system files– Just like many functions on the OS, if there are corrupt files, it would likely affect the troubleshooter.
Driver issues – Outdated or incompatible software or drivers could also trigger issues with the Compatibility troubleshooter.
It is usually an easy problem to fix, so let us show you how.
What can I do if the Compatibility troubleshooter not working?

Updating or upgrading the OS is usually a hassle-free process and shouldn’t take too long. But we often come across Windows Update errors. One such is 0x800f0830, encountered both during the update as well as installing a new iteration of the OS.
The complete error message reads, We couldn’t install Windows 10. We have set your PC back to the way it was right before you started installing Windows. 0x800F0830-0x20003: The Installation failed in the Safe_OS phase with an error during INSTALL_UPDATES operation.
It could also be a slight variation, but the fixes usually remain the same and are generally simple. So, let’s get straight to it.
What is the 0x800F0830 error?
The Windows Update error is encountered when running the installer and appears after the process fails due to one of the following reasons:
Problems with the BIOS: In most cases, it’s an outdated BIOS or misconfigured settings that lead to the update/upgrade error in Windows.
Corrupt Windows Update components: When there are corrupt Windows Update Components on the PC, you are bound to face issues installing updates.
Third-party software blocking the process: Often, third-party software could conflict with the process and trigger the Windows updates error 0x800F0830.
How do I fix 0x800F0830 0x20003??
Before we head to the slightly complex solutions, here are a few quick ones to try:
Restart the computer and try the update/upgrade again.
After downloading the ISO file, disconnect the PC from the Internet, either disable Wi-Fi or unplug the Ethernet cable, as the case may be, and then run the setup.
Disable the installed antivirus, firewall, or any other similar security software. If that works, we recommend you proceed with the installation and then get a reliable antivirus for Windows.
A good system repair utility can fix a wide range of Windows errors. Third-party system repair software will typically run preliminary scans and enable users to fix detected issues with the click of a button.
So, good PC repair software for Windows might provide an easy fix for error 0x800f0830.
2. Change the Secure Boot settings
Tip
The BIOS interface is different for each manufacturer. So check the official website for the exact steps to access and change the BIOS settings.
Secure Boot is a security feature and a critical requirement in Windows 11, but it isn’t the case with Windows 10, and users may face update/upgrade issues due to it.
Secure Boot in BIOS
So, check the current Secure Boot setting by accessing the BIOS, whether enabled or not, and choose the opposite state. For instance, if it’s enabled, turn it off, and vice-versa. Once done, verify whether the 0x800f0830 error is fixed in Windows 10.
3. Reset the BIOS

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.
If disabling the antivirus didn’t do the trick, and the other solutions, too, didn’t help get rid of the 0x800f0830 error, you could always uninstall the program. Also, you could use an effective uninstaller software to delete any left-over files and registry entries.
Go to Microsoft’s official website, and click on the Download tool now button to get the Windows 11 Media Creation Tool.
Once downloaded, launch the setup, and click Yes in the UAC prompt.
Wait for the setup to get things ready.
Click on Accept to agree to the license terms.
Now, choose the Upgrade this PC now option, and click Next.
Wait for the download to complete and follow the on-screen instructions to perform an in-place upgrade.
When other options fail work to work, an in-place upgrade usually comes as a savior and helps fix the 0x800f0830 error in no time. And you don’t lose any files or installed apps in the process. Once done, check whether you can now upgrade the OS.
6. Install Windows using a bootable USB
In case nothing worked, we recommend you upgrade Windows using conventional means, though it’s slightly more complex. So, start by creating a bootable drive for Windows 10.
Installing Windows from a bootable USB
Now, connect the drive to the computer, restart it, access the boot options, and boot the PC through it. When the Windows Setup appears, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
One of these solutions should have helped fix the error 0x800f0830 in Windows 10 and allowed you to update or upgrade to the desired version finally.
Preliminary scan results show that malicious or potentially unwanted software might exist is the message displayed by Microsoft Security Essentials.
The warning shows up after a system scan and it somehow offers information about a potential security alert.
However, the message itself isn’t saying too much and it’s also quite ambiguous: is your device infected, should you be worried, or everything is fine, and you can mind your own business?
Well, the focus word from this alert is might. During the system scan, Microsoft Security Essentials didn’t find malware or viruses but certain software might appear as malicious.
Overall, the bottom idea is that you have nothing to worry about – usually third-party apps or processes might be seen by the Windows system as potentially deceptive programs.
However, when security breaches are involved is always better to be prepared for the worst.
So, here are the best ways in which you can react when you receive the Preliminary scan results show that malicious or potentially unwanted software might exist message.
How can I deal with Preliminary scan results… alerts?
1. Restart your device and re-scan the system
Restart your Windows 10 system.
Run Microsoft Security Essentials and initiate a new scan.
Press Windows key + R to start the Run app.
Type msconfig and press Enter.
From System Configuration, switch to the Boot tab, choose Safe boot and check the Network option. Click Apply, then OK.
After rebooting, run the scan again.
The Preliminary scan results show that malicious or potentially unwanted software might exist warning shouldn’t be displayed now.
2. Reinstall Microsoft Security Essentials
Press Windows key + S, type control panel, and select Control Panel from results.
Click on Programs and Features.
Find the Microsoft Security Essentials entry and uninstall the program on your computer.
Next, download Microsoft Security Essentials from Microsoft’s official support page and follow on-screen prompts for installing the software on your Windows 10 computer.
If the steps from above aren’t resolving your problem you should uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials and reinstall the program afterward.
Of course, in the end, run a system scan and observe the results. If the warning message is still there, resume the next troubleshooting solution.
3. Install a dedicated antivirus or antimalware program
In order to be sure that your system is fully protected and that your data is safe and secured you should choose to install a different security program.
Depending on your own situation and on your own preference you can choose a paid security software.
We recommend you to use the solution below as it is a great security tool which will properly scan your computer.
TotalAV
Avoid any false detections of the built-in solutions and protect your computer with a dedicated antivirus.
If after running a more complex scan you don’t receive any warnings, you have nothing to worry about – otherwise, just choose to remove the infected files.
Optional, if you already installed a dedicated antivirus / antimalware software, you can remove Microsoft Security Essentials from your Windows 10 device.
In that way, you won’t experience any other error messages and you can also be sure that your system is 100% protected against deceptive programs or malware attacks.
So, that’s how you should react when Microsoft Security Essentials is displaying alerts such as the Preliminary scan results show that malicious or potentially unwanted software might exist prompt.

If you have been hit with malware in Windows 10, you will be glad to hear that Microsoft has a program called Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. Below are more details.
Microsoft released this software back in 2018 and it was aimed at all Windows users. The download links are available at the end of this article; but here’s what Microsoft says about its antimalware tool:
After you download the tool, the tool runs one time to check your computer for infection by specific prevalent malicious software (including Blaster, Sasser, and Mydoom) and helps remove any infection it finds.
Also, for those of you who were wondering how the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool differs from an antivirus product, here’s the explanation with three important differences:
– The tool removes malicious software from an already-infected computer. Antivirus products block malicious software from running on a computer. It is significantly more desirable to block malicious software from running on a computer than to remove it after infection. – The tool removes only specific prevalent malicious software. Specific prevalent malicious software is a small subset of all the malicious software that exists today. – The tool focuses on the detection and removal of active malicious software. Active malicious software is malicious software that is currently running on the computer. The tool cannot remove malicious software that is not running. However, an antivirus product can perform this task.
How can I get Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool?
The good news is that you might have its latest version already installed on your system because the tool is included in all the monthly Windows Updates.
So, if you have turned on Automatic Updates, then you’ve already received the latest version of the Malicious Software Removal Tool.
However, you can simply use the link below to download it and run it right away. You will find the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool for 32-bit and 64-bit systems.
Malicious Software Removal Tool Windows 10 alternatives
Everyone knows that a good antivirus is an optional security layer in case Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool does not get the job done.

It will not only protect your PC from attacks, but it will also constantly use its latest technologies to fix and optimize damaged and corrupted files.
TotalAV
Step up to a new level of protection with TotalAV and secure your PC.
Besides using the Microsoft tool or a strong antivirus like the one recommended above, there are a few basic measures that you can take to keep away from such threats.
Here’s what you can do to stay away from malware, viruses and other issues like that:
The inbox of your e-mail can be one of the main gateways for malicious software so make sure you don’t click on e-mails and links from unknown sources.
Always download apps and software from their original, trusted source. Although the program has the same name and even dimensions, downloading it from a remote website doesn’t guarantee the integrity of the software.
Pay attention when you install a software package. Apart from the main app that you need, the lot may also install other bloatware or even malware so read every message on the screen before clicking Next.
Don’t visit websites that are red-flagged by your browser or your antivirus software unless you know exactly what you’re doing.
Don’t install cookies, add-ons, or extensions from untrusted websites as they might contain adware and spyware that can cause havoc on your PC.
Avoid using public hotspots and if you really must do that, stay behind a VPN or protect yourself with a powerful antivirus.
Don’t accept wireless file transfers from unknown sources because that can be the perfect gateway for viruses.
With that advice, we conclude our article. Also, if the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool is not installing, check the latest Windows updates and try again.
Nowadays, malware is literally everywhere and although it’s a lot better to prevent than to cure, you need an antimalware tool to get rid of any threats.
However, after you get rid of whatever malware you are fighting right now, take a look at our selection of the best antiviruses with unlimited license to protect your PC.

Microsoft has released a new update for its PowerToys suite of tools, bringing version 0.37 to all users. This release includes a handful of fixes and a few improvements to features such as PowerToys Run and changes to keyboard shortcuts in FancyZones, and more.
In addition to this, the company has removed the legacy Settings app and converted the Keyboard Manager tool into a separate executable process. PowerRename now has some capitalization options, too.
One important feature that still isn’t included in this release is the much-awaited Video Conferencing Mute utility, which is still available in the experimental builds. The team noted that it needs more work before it can be released to the general public. “Our goals for v0.37 release cycle Video Conference Mute work so we can bring it into the stable branch,” said Clint Rutkas, Program manager lead on PowerToys.
Here’s the full list of improvements and fixes in PowerToys version 0.37:
FancyZones editor default launching key is Win+Shift+`
Windows Terminal’s new Quake mode will use Win+`. We feel this is a far better use of the keystroke.
Current PowerToys users can update this in our settings in the FancyZone section.
Now an independent exe. This now runs high priority in its own process. When your CPU is under load, this should allow the process to continue to be prioritized
Color Picker
uses a centralized keyhook. This should improve activation
Esc for closing will no longer bubble through. Thanks @DoctorNefario
It is worth noting that PowerToys version 0.35 is available for users running Windows 10 May 2019 Update (version 1903) or higher. This means that users on older versions of Windows will not be able to install the latest update. However, most users will probably already be running a newer version of the OS, so it shouldn’t make a difference. As always, those who are interested in installing the tool can head to the official GitHub page to download it.

Microsoft has published its monthly recap of new features and capabilities added to the Microsoft 365 suite of apps and services. This time around, the company has detailed a bunch of improvements made to Microsoft Teams, Word, Outlook, and Excel, along with some updates to other products. Here’s a look at everything you need to know.
Microsoft Teams
First off, Microsoft Teams picked up a slew of updates this month. The first of them is the ability to use live transcription with speaker attribution in Teams meetings. The AI-powered feature was first announced in July last year, and it allows organizers and presenters to transcribe everything that the participants speak in a scheduled meeting. It is available for English-speaking users in the United States.
Microsoft has also introduced a new Meeting recap feature in Teams, which allows participants to get a quick overview of important information once the meeting is over. The meeting recap includes a meeting recording, transcript, chat, attached files, and more. External presenter support is now available for Live Events in Teams, and the app now lets organizers manage a live event as a Producer in a separate window.
In addition, Microsoft Teams is rolling out a new Breakout room retention and participant reassignment functionality to desktop users. This means that participants will now remain assigned to their breakout rooms unless the meeting organizer chooses to change them. Furthermore, the organizers can set a time limit for all breakout rooms created in a meeting session. Some of the other features added to Teams in April can be seen below.
Rounding off the features for Teams, the new AI-based polling capabilities are now coming to mobile devices. The company is also launching intelligent poll suggestions, post-meeting insights, and two new poll types, including open text and multiple-choice questions. These updates will become generally available in a couple of weeks.
Next up is Microsoft Word. Last month, Microsoft introduced a new capability in Word for the Web that enables users to automatically convert their Word documents to PowerPoint presentations. The feature leverages the power of AI to include rich content such as images, videos, and icons in the content. The “Export to PowerPoint presentation” feature is now available in Word for the web for all Microsoft 365 subscribers. However, it currently supports the English language only.
Microsoft Excel
Excel on the web is getting a much-anticipated feature that allows file owners to keep track of the changes made to their spreadsheets when collaborating with other colleagues. The “Show Changes” maintains a history of all the revisions made to a workbook for up to 60 days and includes details such as author name, changed values, and the exact location of the change. This update is currently rolling out now to all Microsoft 365 subscribers.
Microsoft Planner, Outlook on the Web, and other updates
To end the recap, we’ll look at some updates for Microsoft Planner, Outlook, and the other Microsoft 365 apps. Microsoft has increased the number of task labels in its task management tool. Users can now add up to 25 labels in different colors to tasks across all major platforms.
In addition, Outlook on the web is getting a bit of a refreshed design this month. The app is picking up a redesigned left pane that will provide quick access to all the important elements such as contacts, calendar, email, and shortcuts to launch other Microsoft 365 apps. This change should make it easier for users to navigate the app. The company also plans to bring this capability to Outlook for Windows later this year.
Moving on to features aimed at IT professionals. The software gaint has announced some new capabilities for Microsoft Defender for Endpoint to help organizations protect unmanaged devices on their networks. Finally, the Remote Desktop client for macOS has recently received an update that brings native support for the M1 chip, and Microsoft also added support to draw AWS architecture in the Visio desktop app.
Netstat is a handy command-line utility that lets users view network details in the Command Prompt. However, many reported that netstat is not recognized.
This is a powerful tool that lets you check listening ports and more, and if it’s not working, you might encounter problems analyzing your network and network traffic.
Luckily, there are ways to fix this issue, and today we’re going to show you how to do it.
Why is netstat not recognized?
Check the command for typos. In case you enter the command incorrectly, it won’t be recognized.
An issue with a system variable might be causing this error.
In rare cases, the file might be missing or moved from its default location.
What do I do if netstat command is not recognized in Windows?
1. Make sure you’re entering the command correctly
Press Windows key + S and enter command prompt.
Now select Command Prompt from the list of results.
Enter the following command and press Enter: netstat
You should now see the results.
First, make sure you’re entering the command for Netstat correctly. If you don’t enter the command correctly, you’ll see that the netstat is not recognized as an internal or external command error.
That’s a short and straightforward command to enter. Make sure that the command doesn’t include any typos after entering it. Then press the Enter keyboard key to initiate the utility.
Copy this folder path with the Ctrl + C hotkey: C:\Windows\System32
Then paste that path into File Explorer’s folder bar by pressing the Ctrl + V keyboard shortcut.
Type Netstat in the search box as in the shot directly below.
Click NETSTAT.EXE to open that command-line utility.
If you’re getting netstat not recognized erorr on Windows follow the steps above and ensure that netstat is at its default location.
5. Check if Netstat is in the Recycle Bin
If you can’t find the NETSTAT.EXE in its folder, click the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop.
Then enter Netstat in the Recycle Bin’s search box.
Select NETSTAT.EXE within the Recycle Bin.
Next, click the Restore the selected items option.
If you can’t find NETSTAT.EXE in the Recycle Bin or its folder, that utility has probably been entirely deleted.
NETSTAT.EXE files are available for download at websites, but not all those sources are guaranteed to be entirely reputable. Check all potential file download sources very carefully.
If you need to restore a deleted NETSTAT.EXE file, updating Windows 10 to a new build version or performing a Windows 10 factory reset will restore this file.
You’ll need to reinstall third-party software if you reset Windows 10. However, your user files can be retained.
So, that’s how users can fix the netstat not recognized Windows 10 error. Some of the above potential fixes might also resolve the same not recognized issue for other command-line tools.
Microsoft introduced five new fonts and one of them should replace Calibri as the system’s default font. For that, users are invited to submit their votes.
Only one will be the chosen one, but the four other will be kept in the fonts menu across all Office 365 and other Microsoft apps.
While default fonts might not be very different in terms of aspect, they still bring some uniqueness when they’re used, Microsoft says.
They communicate a distinct personality in their own quiet way—a personality that by extension becomes our personality as well.
And one reason why default fonts are not too fancy or bold is that their role is rather functional and not visual. To that extent, they serve their purpose and keep users focused on their tasks.
Tenorite, Bierstadt, Skeena, Seaford, and Grandview
These are the names of the five newcomers commissioned by Microsoft and they’ve all been created by graphic designers. They embody various sans-serif styles—humanist, geometric, swiss-style, and industrial.
According to the designers, Tenorite brings crisp-looking shapes and wide characters with large spacing which makes it easy to read.
On the other hand, Bierstadt is described as more mechanical and rationalized than the current Arial font. This makes it minimalistic.
The third, font, Skeena, is softer, with curvier endings to the letters and visible differences between thick and thin variants.
What the designers intended with the fourth font, Seaford, was to evoke familiarity. This is how one of the designers describes it:
At the start there was just a broad description of a personality—comfortable, warm, inviting, animated—so we began by studying the overall movement of old-style serifed faces. We hoped to create the same, familiar kind of warmth, but without the serifs.
Last but not least, Grandview takes a more industrial approach starting from Bahnschrift font.
Read more about the fonts as their designers describe them in the release notes. You can use them freely in the cloud across Microsoft 365 apps and then vote for the next default font on Microsoft’s Twitter account.
We’d also like to know which one you prefer, so leave a comment in the section below.

Researchers at phishing platform Cofense discovered a new phishing attack aimed at Office 365 accounts.
The method used isn’t a novelty: the attackers inserted a fake SharePointdocument into an email, requesting urgent review and response.
The seriousness of the event is more concerning since it managed to bypass Microsoft’s security layers, the report shows:
The campaign was found in an environment protected by Microsoft’s own secure email gateway (SEG). With thousands of individuals still required to telework, this has created a perfect opportunity for hackers to lure their victims with almost picture-perfect sharing themed emails.
The details to look after in a phishing attack
Similar to other phishing scams, this one was also spread via a seemingly legitimate email.
A first notable detail was the sender’s email address: the name wasn’t clear, nor was a Microsoft reference or the organization’s title.
Then, the email contained a team project document apparently uploaded and shared via SharePoint, plus a general message claiming urgent attention and response.
Besides, emails calling for urgency should be usually considered suspicious, especially when they come from an unknown or undisclosed address.
If clicked, the fake link takes to a landing page that displays Microsoft’s SharePoint logo, a blurry background, and a request to log in to view the document.
Of course, upon entering the credentials, the user is taken to an irrelevant document, and only then one realizes the scam.
The entire scam proves that sharing and accessing sensitive documents via email (even using Microsoft’s protocols) is quite risky. A few common-sense ways to prevent falling victim for such attacks would be to:
Install an antivirus with phishing and/or ransomware shield (most tools have it)
Make sure the system and all programs are up to date
Exercise precaution when it comes to revealing credentials or opening suspicious emails or documents
Block the addresses of potential scammers
Hopefully, this article offered some useful details about phishing scams and how to prevent them. Feel free to leave comments in the section below.

Many websites utilize HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure) instead of the increasingly outmoded HTTP protocol. Yet, Edge has been a bit slower than some browsers to implement automatic HTTPS.
However, Microsoft has just confirmed Edge v92 will incorporate automatic HTTPS.
Microsoft confirms automatic HTTPS for Edge v92
The big M confirmed it will add automatic HTTPS to Edge on a 365 roadmap page. There Microsoft announced automatic HTTPS for its flagship browser as follows:
Starting with Microsoft Edge version 92, users will have the option to upgrade navigations from HTTP to HTTPS on domains likely to support this more secure protocol. This support can also be configured to attempt delivery over HTTPS for all domains.
At the moment, automatic HTTPS for Edge is in development. So, users will need to wait for Microsoft to release Edge 92. The big M has confirmed a July 2021 release month for Edge 92.
What is HTTPS?
HTTPS is a more secure browser protocol than HTTP that establishes connections with hosting servers. While the HTTP protocol is not encrypted, HTTPS shuffles web traffic through SSL encrypted tunnels.
Thus, there can be no doubt HTTPS is more preferable to HTTP. Edge currently redirects from HTTP to HTTPS. However, Edge 92 will likely open pages a bit quicker with HTTPS as its default option.
If you really can’t wait for Microsoft to release Edge v92, check out the HTTPS Everywhere extension for Chromium-based browsers. That is a Chrome extension you can add to Edge that enables automatic HTTPS in browsers.
So, Edge will soon become a more secure browser with automatic HTTPS thanks to the upcoming v.92 update.
There can be little doubt that Chromium Edge is an altogether better browser than it used to be that keeps getting better with further Microsoft updates.
Virtual assistant programs are AI software that can assist you with various things. You can request that virtual assistants send texts or emails, provide weather details, search the web, remember phone numbers, provide dictionary definitions, open software and much more. These are also programs that you can use with microphones or chat with by entering text. There are more AI applications for mobiles than desktops, but some publishers have launched a few virtual assistant programs for Windows.
Apple’s Siri was among the first digital assistants for mobiles and tablets, and Microsoft included its first virtual assistant in Windows 10 and Phone 8.1. Cortana is Windows 10’s virtual assistant, and that can keep a notebook for you, send emails, tell you the time in various countries, replace the Calculator app, provide football scores and fixtures, set alarms, play songs with apps, schedule dates, etc. Although it might seem little more than a search tool at first, Cortana is a lot more. However, you can still try out any of these alternative third-party virtual assistants for various Windows platforms.
Braina
Braina is virtual assistant software that has a freeware Lite and proprietary Pro version, which is retailing at $29. With the Lite version you can save notes, set alarms and reminders, open programs and files, open websites, play songs, get weather details and search web. The software is also a handy dictionary and thesaurus. However, the Pro version can do quite a bit more and enables users to dictate speech to text for word processing, make Skype calls, set up hotkeys to trigger custom commands, create keyboard macros and establish startup commands that automatically execute when you first open Braina.
Jarvis Light
Jarvis Lite is freeware you can add to Windows by pressing the Download Now button on its home page. This application has minimal system requirements, so it’s a good choice for more outdated laptops or desktops. With Jarvis Lite’s shell commands users can launch software, shut down Windows, play songs, open and send emails and open web pages. The software’s termination commands come in handy for closing programs and windows. In addition, Jarvis enables speech to text dictation and provides handy audio controls; and you can also set up custom voice commands with it.
Denise
Denise is VA software available for $120, and there’s no stripped down freeware version. However, the software might still be well worth it as it comes with a unique set of avatars and a GUI that Cortana can’t match. Denise has male, female and robot avatars within a real-time display system with millions of colors. Users can resize the avatars to alternative resolutions and customize the UI’s menu options.
Aside from its amazing avatars and GUI, this virtual assistant has weather forecast, email, agenda, search and dictionary modules. You can use Denise as a media player to play music and video or as an app launcher to open programs with. The software supports both Spanish and English dictation to dictate text in external software. Denise can rip music from CDs and convert it to MP3 format, and it can also send photos and videos to Picasa and YouTube accounts. Kiosk Studio is one of the software’s more novel modules with which you can set up PowerPoint style presentations hosted by Denise. With a little programming, users can even integrate Denise with third-party software.
Ultra Hal Assistant 6.2
Ultra Hal Assistant 6.2 is retailing at $29.95 and runs on most Windows platforms. This VA software includes 3D avatars that users can chat with, and it also has a UI that you can customize with skins. The best thing about this software is that it boasts an expansive chat database for more natural discussions. It also includes its own text editor for text dictation. Aside from that, this digital assistant can search for and open programs, tell you the weather, replace the Calculator app, dial phone numbers, start emails and provide reminders when required.
Syn Virtual Assistant
This is a freeware virtual assistant you can add to Windows 7/8/8.1/10 from this website. Syn Virtual Assistant is another that includes 3D avatars that bring it to life. Iron Man fans will love the software’s 3D Iron Man avatar. The software’s SynEngine integrates with Skype, Google maps, Yahoo, Twitter and other web services. Syn opens programs and websites, manages contacts, checks email and plays media. The software also supports Visual Basic, C++ and C# plug-ins so that developers can further enhance it.
At the moment there aren’t many digital assistants for Windows. However, virtual assistants could be the next big thing in the software industry. Hal, Syn, Denise, Jarvis and Braina are five alternatives to Cortana you can install now; and they’ll probably be lots more new virtual assistant software for Windows.
Approximately one year after announcing that Microsoft Teams for Windows will get a noise suppression option, Microsoft now revealed that the same feature is going to be added to macOS as well.
The feature has been recently launched in public preview, meaning that it is available for testing for a limited number of users.
Having Noise suppression activated to a certain degree, the meeting presenter makes sure that the audience only hears music and the human voice. Other annoying background noises (pets, doors, alarms, shuffling papers, etc) are cancelled.
How to activate noise suppression on macOS?
Select your profile picture at the top right of the Teams app.
Then, select Settings.
Scroll down to Devices.
Under Noise suppression, select an option to determine how much of the background noise the app should mute.
These steps are avaialble if you’re making the changes before a meeting. If you want to adjust them during a meeting, the steps are the following:
From the meeting window, select More options in your meeting controls.
Then, choose Device settings.
Proceed with selecting an option under Noise suppression. The options are the same as in the previous instructions.
Presently, there are some limitations when it comes to totally shut off background noise – Noise suppression High, the announcement points out:
Your computer’s processor must support Advanced Vector Extensions 2 (AVX2).
Not available if the meeting or call is being recorded or live captions is turned on.
This option uses more computer resources and the feature might fall back to Low automatically.
According to Microsoft, the preview app is not available on macOS devices with an M1 processor. Also, anyone who wants to join Microsoft’s public preview community can do so by switching a few settings.
The final Noise suppression option for macOS should be launched in August; until then, the feature is subject to changes.

Norton is reliable antivirus software, but, as you can see there are many errors related to it. Thus, you may think to change it with another tool.
When Norton won’t install on your Windows 10, even if you performed the above steps, there is no other solution than to try another antivirus.
We recommend you to use a cross-platform solution to protect your Windows, Mac, and Android devices with a single license for the ultimate in security and convenience.

A good antivirus is very important if you care about your privacy and security. Norton is one of the best, but if you encounter any issues with it, be sure to solve them as soon as possible.
Instagram, one of the most used communications tools has been updated in Microsoft Store, and it’s been converted to a full PWA (Progressive Web App).
In other words, the app can now be installed via the Chromium Edge installation process and next to Twitter this will likely be the biggest PWA on the Windows platform.
The great thing about Instagram going full PWA is that this will allow for the app to be updated more frequently since a single update can be pushed across multiple platforms.
Instagram goes full PWA
Considering that the Instagram app on Windows 10 has not been updated since July 2018 this is great news for users.
After this update, more than 1.16 billion Instagram users will benefit from a richer desktop experience thanks to the nice additions.
For example, the users will see the same color branded version of the Instagram icon as if they would in the case of using Microsoft Edge.
Additionally, e new ellipsis can be seen at the top left of the app. Through it users can access additional settings that otherwise could be found on Edge.
If we are to look at Twitters PWA progress then we can have an idea on what to expect next regarding Instagram. Gaining some additional notification settings or shortened timelines could be in the mix.
At this moment the Instagram update is still rolling out to devices and it can be possible that is not present for all facets of Microsoft app store.
We would love to know how you feel about Instagram going full PWA, so don’t hesitate to leave us a message in the comments section below.
AOL, formerly called America Online, is an American global media and technology company that offers premium content and innovative technology.
A subsidiary of Verizon Media, AOL offers Internet users services that include e-mail, AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) software, AOL Video, video search, news, sports, weather, stock quotes, and MapQuest, an online source of maps and directions.
Their website covers news, politics, sports and is a great source for the latest headlines
Unfortunately, there are users who can’t access the AOL website. If you are one of them, there are some possible causes:
The website may be down, and in this case all you have to do is wait for a few minutes, then try again to access it.
If you can load the site on other devices, there may be a problem with your computer or network.
The website may only be available for some specific countries.
Your ISP provider may restrict your access to the AOL website
No matter what is the reason behind your restricted access to this website, follow these 8 tips below to quickly fix your issue.
What can you do if you can’t access AOL website?
1. Check your Internet connection
If you think that your Internet connection is down, try accessing another website and see if it loads.
In case it doesn’t, you have to check your Wi-Fi settings, by following these steps:
Click on the connection icon from your taskbar.
Select the View Connection Settings link from the drop-down list.
In the Network pop-up window, check if you see Connected status.
2. Test and manually reset your router
It is not uncommon to experience problems with your home router and this may cause a website or web page not to work.
To check if your router or modem works properly, disconnect the power cable and wait for a few seconds, then plug the cable back into the device.
Open your browser, refresh it by pressing F5 on the keyboard, and test if you still can’t access the AOL website. If it doesn’t work, proceed with the next steps.
3. Check if you accidentally blocked the website on Chrome
There are some situations when you accidentally block a website in Google Chrome or even the browser might block your access to certain websites.
This happens when Chrome considers that the website is dangerous and can harm your device.
If you think that you unintentionally blocked the AOL website and therefore you can’t access it, try to unblock it from the restricted list, by following these steps:
Open Google Chrome, click on More icon, from the upper right corner, then on Settings.
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Advanced.
In the System section, click on Open your computer’s proxy settings option.
In the Internet Properties pop-up window, click on Security tab, select Restricted sites, then click on the Sites button.
If you find AOL website on the list, select its URL then click on Remove button.
Close Chrome browser, then try to access AOL website to see if you fixed the issue.
4. Edit your Windows Hosts file
The Hosts file is used by your operating system to map human-friendly hostnames to numerical Internet Protocol (IP) addresses which identify and locate a host in an IP network.
The Hosts file contains lines of text consisting of an IP address in the first text field, followed by more hostnames.
Perform the following actions to reset the Hosts file and unblock AOL website, in case you can’t access it:
Click on File Explorer icon from your taskbar.
In the File explorer tab, search for System32 and click on C:WindowsSystem32.
Look for drivers in the list and click on it, then on etc.
Right-click on the hosts and open it with Notepad. If you see AOL website in the list, it is possible that your hosts file have been modified.
Select the line that contains AOL URL and delete it. Save the changes and close Notepad.
Restart Google Chrome and check if you can access the website.
5. Use a VPN
In case the previous steps didn’t solve your problem, try installing a virtual private network (VPN) for another layer of protection.
Since access to the Internet depends on geo-restrictions, you need a VPN to bypass them and connect to a server from a different location.
By pretending that you are located in another place, it will help you especially when you can’t access websites like AOL.
By using industry-leading privacy tools you can bypass local limitations and have access to the AOL website again anytime you want.
Therefore, by choosing the most efficient VPNs out there you will gain access to restricted websites for your daily content.
Conclusion
Even if you can’t access a certain website, hopefully, you can unblock it by following one of the steps detailed in this article.
First, you need to understand the reason behind the issue and act accordingly.
For instance, if your location affects your online activity it means that it falls under geo-restrictions, and installing a VPN can help you bypass them.
At times, editing your Windows Hosts file, checking if you accidentally blocked the website on Chrome, or even trying a different browser, may get you back on AOL website.

Microsoft has just released the Windows 10 Insider build 21370 for testers in the Dev Channel, which brings notable improvements to the Bluetooth audio experience. Starting with this build, Bluetooth audio devices will appear as one unified audio endpoint in the volume dropdown in taskbar, which will make Bluetooth headsets and speakers with a built-in mic easier to use.
The build 21370 also brings support for the high-quality AAC codec, which delivers better audio streaming quality in smaller files. Other minor changes in this build include design improvements for the icons in File Explorer’s address bar, as well as a smoother launch animation for the Windows 10 touch keyboard.
You can learn more about all the changes, fixes, and known issues in the build 21370 below:
What’s new in Build 21370
Improving the Bluetooth audio experience
Over the past several months, we have been adding new features to make Bluetooth audio streaming easier, better, and more performant.
Unified audio endpoint: No more clicking through multiple audio endpoints to make your Bluetooth headset’s voice and mic work properly. We now only expose one audio endpoint in the UI and will switch to the correct one automatically for you for a seamless experience. Listening to Spotify and then have to hop onto a Teams call? You can also now directly control the volume of your headset.
Support for AAC codec: Enjoy premium audio streaming quality wirelessly on your Bluetooth headphones and speakers with AAC codec. Short for Advanced Audio Codec, AAC is a lossy codec that delivers high quality audio streaming in smaller files – great for listening to music online.
Changes and Improvements
We’ve made some small adjustments to the icons in File Explorer’s address bar.
We’ve improved the touch keyboard launch animation to make it smoother in cases where UWP apps reflow when it appears.
We made a change so that if you set focus to the Run dialog, the touch keyboard will now show a backslash (\) key.
Fixes
[News and interests] We fixed an issue where hovering over the news and interests button sometimes may not open the flyout.
[News and interests] We fixed an issue where the news and interests flyout may get stuck displaying the loading spinning dots.

By default, Apex Legends teams you up by two other players and creates a squad. There are 20 such squads in a regular game. However, Apex Legends lets you also enjoy the game in two-player squads, or singles (no squads, players are against each other).
Perhaps one of the most appealing aspects of the game is that you can play it for free. You won’t be able to play with all the characters at first, but you can purchase legends by spending real money or trade your in-game points for them.
Sadly, we’re not here to discuss Apex Legends’ awesomeness. Instead, we’ll teach you how to avoid one of the most common problems you may encounter in this game: server connection errors.
More often than not, using a VPN can greatly increase the quality of your connection. More so if your ISP artificially limits it by means of throttling your bandwidth or routing traffic improperly.
Not having a strong, good-quality connection can really affect your ability to enjoy Apex Legends. Therefore, it would only make sense that using a service such as Express VPN can curb the incidence of these unwanted connection issues.
Even if you don’t notice any improvement at first, make sure you switch to another server and try again. Express VPN has servers in 105 countries so you can easily connect through it no matter where you are.
Express VPN
Make sure you fully enjoy your Apex Legends matches with this powerful VPN solution.
Once you close the CMD window, restart your PC, launch Apex Legends, and check if you still experience connectivity issues.
Additionally, you can switch to another DNS, other than the one your ISP assigned to you. We’ve been using Google’s free Public DNS and we’re nothing short of satisfied with it.
It’s worth mentioning that you should back up your ISP-assigned DNS, in case the new ones don’t work as intended. If your DNS is set to automatic, there’s no need to back anything up.
Before launching the game, you can also take the following steps:
Right-click your Apex Legends shortcut/launcher icon
Select Properties
Head to the Compatibility tab
Select Disable fullscreen optimizations
Check the Run this program as an administrator box
Click OK
Reportedly, disabling the full-screen optimization option improved things for certain users.
3. Change the data center
Fortunately, Apex Legends doesn’t tie your hands when it comes to regions. Right before you reach the main menu, you can switch to a data center in a different region.
If you notice fewer connectivity issues, the issue might be server-side, which means there’s nothing you can do about it.
Alternatively, you can check the servers’ status before you jump to any conclusions. There’s a Server Status button on the official website, but we found it quite rudimentary.
4. Restart Windows audio service (AMD FX series users)
Optional: Disable your microphone
Launch Apex Legends
Press the CTRL + SHIFT + ESC key combination on your keyboard
Go to the Services tab
Locate Windows Audio Endpoint Builder (AudioEndpointBuilder) and stop it
Start the Windows Audio (Audiosrv) service
Note that this fix reportedly mostly works for AMD FX-series users. This doesn’t mean others can’t try it too, but the results might not be as expected.
You can also try the microphone trick, but make sure to disable it before you launch the game. You can enable it shortly after launching Apex Legends, but you will still be unable to use the microphone.
5. Troubleshoot your connection
Restart your PC, router, and/or modem
Use wired connections instead of Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi is less reliable than Ethernet)
Change your wireless channel to a less noisy one
Run a pathping test
Call your ISP and ask them if they can do anything about it
Upgrade your Internet subscription (if it’s possible and long overdue)
Replace Ethernet cables if they’re old or worn out
The troubleshooting advice we’ve included in this short list is not Apex Legends-specific. These are common steps you can take to improve the overall quality of your connection.
However, if you’re experiencing connectivity issues in Apex Legends, they might even help you curb these issues, or even get rid of them for good.
However, you must keep in mind that if the problem occurs on the server’s side, waiting it out might be the best way to tackle it. You can even try using a VPN, but this fix will only work if the issue occurs somewhere between you and the game server (endpoints excluded).
Without a doubt, getting randomly disconnected can really bring the worst out of you. That and not being able to join a game, in the first place.
Even if the game seemed to work perfectly the night before, you may discover it no longer wants to connect you to the server. Sometimes it’s because of the game server that may throw the clock code error, and there’s little you can do about it other than waiting.
Among the most common issues, we remind of:
Freezing
Server timeout
Crashing
Frequent disconnections
Let us know which of the above tricks worked for you in the comments area below.
Xbox has plenty of great hit games. But up until this year, there was one glaring omission, especially for baseball fans like myself. In fact, it sometimes made me regret buying into Microsoft’s gaming world.
While I’ve played other baseball games like RBI Baseball and Super Mega Baseball on Xbox, Sony PlayStation fans have long been enjoying the officially licensed game of Major League Baseball, MLB The Show as a PS console exclusive. But this year it finally comes to Xbox One and Xbox Series X and S consoles, and it is even included for Xbox Game Pass members and on Xbox Cloud Gaming, too.
For MLB fans like myself, this is a dream come true. There are many things that MLB the Show does so well that other baseball games can’t. And, there are many things in MLB The Show 21 this year that really make it one of the best sports games to grace the Xbox.
“Are you watching a baseball game?”
The highlight of MLB the Show 21 is definitely the way the game looks and feels. Though I played the game on an older Xbox One, it still feels and plays well, with no lag or stutter. When I initially booted up into an exhibition game between the Dodgers and the Rays, I could not help but think I was standing behind the plate with a baseball bat myself.
The game is able to run at 4K resolution and 60 frames per second on Xbox Series X consoles, but even on an older console, it still feels quite realistic (but suffers from long load times.) Long-time The Show players might not notice any visual differences, but for newbies to the series to me who are playing on Xbox for the first time, this game is as authentic of a baseball experience as you can get.
There’s a lot of details here that you don’t get in previous Xbox MLB games like RBI Baseball. It definitely has the graphical quality of Madden 21 and other EA Sports titles.
Pitching, fielding, the MLB player models, and in-stadium crowd animations are true to what you’d expect in real life. Even the commentary is great, always accurate, featuring the voices from real-life MLB Network anchors Matt Vasgersian, Mark DeRosa, and Dan Plesac. Take a look below, when I hit a walk-off home run in a game with my New York Mets, as an example. Listen to the way the crowd reacts, and how the mood changes. Also, look at Michael’s subtle movements when batting.
San Diego Studios actually added more than 1,000 new animations this year, and you can definitely feel it when playing. From the pump a player might make with his glove during a double play, or the confusion that ensues on the field of missing a routine fly-ball, you definitely get the little details of MLB that matter. Not to mention the in-game stadium scoreboard animations, too. Even fielding the ball has been revamped so that your fielders can rob home runs more naturally, and look less like robots.
I even noticed some touches that only true baseball fans can pick up on. When taking an at-bat at Citi Field in MLB The Show 21, you can see airplanes taking off and landing from nearby LaGuardia Airport. And, in Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, you can see the subway trains passing between the center field scoreboards.
It’s amazing to see the level of detail put into this game. Even the socks the Mets batters wear are exactly the same as the ones they wear during home games at Citi Field. And let me not forget Mets pitcher, Noah Syndergaard’s wavy hair, too.
Play the way you want
Of course, with MLB The Show 21 hitting Xbox for the first time, and also as a part of Xbox Game Pass, there will be a lot of players who aren’t familiar with the controls. The developers of the game seem to have kept this in mind. During the initial bootup, you can pick various settings to play the game the way you want.
This actually made me happy, as previous baseball games on Xbox One were either too difficult or way too easy and too arcade-style. You can opt for casual if you’re new to the game to have the CPU handle most of the gameplay and fielding for you. There’s also simulation if you really don’t want CPU help, or competitive if you want to depend on your own skills. The game will even ask for dynamic difficulty, which can change up the difficulty if you become too good and pile up too many wins.
You can select a difficulty level, and then move on to tweak the way you pitch or field, and choose various controller schemes. These are all explained by the game for you as you explore your options, and you can even demo the controls before picking a final option. I opted for a more casual experience with the meter pitching type, the zone hitting type, trackball, and auto fielding turned on.
This combination I choose is best for anyone who just wants to have fun in the game and not end up rage quitting. You’ll get more in-game and on-screen visual hints about how to improve your batting, or your fielding with these options turned on.
Note that there is a new pitching mechanism this year known as Pinpoint Pitching. This will require you to use your controller’s right analog stick to find the location and the quality of the pitch. Various patterns are linked to various pitches. The craziest pattern is the half-circle, and then rotate clockwise movement for a two-seam fastball. I guess this is more true to life but stay away if you don’t want to crack your controller in half.
Anyway, this level of control and customization is all the kind of stuff I wish were in other sports games like Madden. Those games have always been unplayable to me because there are too many button combinations to make for common in-game tasks. In MLB the Show 21, the game has your back and explains the rules of baseball, and everything you need to do to become a virtual baseball player.
Various modes & what’s new
MLB The Show 21 is one of the most comprehensive sports games ever to hit Xbox. The reason why? You can enjoy the game of baseball in more ways than one.
The main game modes in the game include Road to the Show, Diamond Dynasty, March to October, and Franchise. These modes focus on prolonged gameplay and require the utmost dedication and concentration. You can’t just finish these modes overnight, or in a few days.
For some more fun and quicker moments, you also can quick play with Challenge of the Week (a curated set of challenges,) Moments in MLB (a list of special moments from the season you can play,) or play a Home Run Derby (just slam the ball out of the park!) And, for a quick trip to baseball’s biggest game enter Postseason Mode and shape your own World Series and MLB Postseason bracket.
If you’re confused, I attempted to summarize each of these main game modes below. Of course, you always can run a quick Exhibition game using Live Rosters, too, or go with Retro Mode for a more simple tap and go control mechanism. There’s no need to explain those two modes, as it’s one of the easiest in the game just pick a team, settings, and start playing.
Diamond Dynasty: Play games, collect new players, build the best squad possible. Like Ultimate Team in FIFA 21 or MyTeam in NBA 2K21. Collect MLB Players to improve your roster and build your own dream team. Programs here have been streamlined this year to make goals and rewards more clear.
Road To the Show: Start your own career as a minor league player, make your way up the ranks and aim to become a MLB Star.
March to October: Pick a MLB Team, play as them throughout the simulated season and try to guide them to the World Series. A casual mode where you get put in the ending of various games throughout the season, without having to play complete games. You also can manage the team/trade players/train minor leaguers, too.
Franchise: Pick a MLB Team, and manage the team throughout the year. Set rosters, scour players, hire and fire players and staff. You become the owner! Automate tasks, if needed to speed up the process. (You can’t send this team online, though!)
In my time playing, the fun aspect of the game has been the March to October mode. This mode just puts you, the player, in games right when they’re close to ending (usually the 6th inning.) The goal is for you to try to win, or finish off the game for your team and keep winning to build a strong season record. It’s quite fun, and I’ve finally managed to guide my Mets to a World Series Title.
Automation is what’s key here, and it is what makes playing fun. There is no need to play the full 162 game schedule as this mode will skip games for you based on your performance. Some of the moments you get placed in can be quite interesting. I was placed in a tie-game scenario between the Yankees and the Mets and broke the tie with a home run and led my team to more momentum. Exciting!
Nothing makes me smile more than beating the Yankees in #MLBTheShow21. Jeff McNeil and Pete Alonso with late-inning home runs to break up the tie in the Subway Series! This is one of the games from the March to October mode. So much fun! #LGMpic.twitter.com/1h4Ux7vMrj
As for what’s improved in these modes for returning players, there’s a bit to note this year. You can now port your player from Road to the Show over to Diamond Dynasty to shape a roster. The player also has the ability to turn the Road to the Show character into a two-way player, too, as both a fielder and a hitter. And, in Road to the Show, you get MLB Network Podcast episodes to reflect on your in-game progress as a player, too. Small changes that only long-time players will notice.
Next-Gen Features & differences
Although I wasn’t playing on a next-generation console, there is a unique feature in the game for folks who are new to the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles is the ability to build your own stadium with Stadium Creator mode.
This mode lets you build a professional MLB stadium from scratch. Walls, foul poles, stands, bleachers, props, you name it is all possible here. You even can adjust wall heights and go with different dimensions, too. Anything created in this can be carried over to Diamond Dynasty and Franchise Mode so you can play in it.
Asides from this, and the 4K and 60 frames per second performance jump, there are not many differences between next-gen and old-gen versions of the game. Note that on Xbox, you’ll have to pay extra for the next-gen upgrades, as Sony did not opt to use Microsoft’s Smart Delivery system on Xbox consoles.
Online Play & Crossplay
As a rarity in the gaming world. MLB the Show 21 allows for online cross-play between PlayStation and Xbox users. It seems like a good idea on the surface, but online play is one of the worst parts of this game. You can actually add friends from the PlayStation world from within a system inside MLB The Show to handle the cross-play and then invite them to Exhibition Games.
For matchmaking and playing without friends and playing with random strangers, Online mode also works with what’s known as “Online Rated.” It is here where you can play and controlling a team of your choice. You’re matched based on team rating, team strengths, and starting pitcher strengths. Longer wait times can happen if the rating isn’t quite right.
There are also Custom Leagues too, where you can create your own MLB fantasy league, invite various friends and control a team and play to see which team and player end up on top. No CPUs are in this mode, and everything is dependent on the player itself.
Generally speaking, playing with friends across consoles is really buggy. There’s a lag in between hitting or throwing the ball and also fielding. Playing with friends who are on the same console (Xbox to Xbox) is a much better experience and a lot less frustrating. It’s also a shame that you still can’t take your own Franchise Team online, which is a long-time request of MLB The Show players.
Annoying microtransactions
The other annoying aspect of MLB the Show 21 is the microtransactions. These are indeed completely optional, but I hate seeing card packs and stubs show up on my screen after competing games. MLB The Show uses Stubs as microtransactions, which will let you buy card packs in Diamond Dynasty, and other modes, it doesn’t require real-world money, as these are earned easily during regular gameplay, but these are very annoying to have in place in moments where I just want to enjoy the game.
Worth the buy or Game Pass sub
For die-hard as well as casual baseball fans who have an Xbox console, MLB The Show 21 is a dream come true. It’s a visual masterpiece, and the gameplay is really fun and easy, for any gamer, or anyone who has an interest in the sport. There’s so much you can do in the game, too, from playing with friends, managing your own leagues, or becoming an MLB player. It’s just the online play and microtransactions that are a bit annoying, but otherwise speaking, MLB The Show 21 has made a fantastic debut on Xbox.
Today, Microsoft announced that it has formally acquired Kinvolk, the Berlin based creator and distributor of Flatcar Container Linux, an enterprise-grade open cloud native stack. As ZDNet reports, the amount is so far undisclosed.
Following Microsoft recent acquisitions of ZeniMax Media and Nuance Communications this latest acquisition could help aid Azure efforts with the development of Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Arc, future projects on the expansion of Azure’s hybrid container platform capabilities and Microsoft’s increased open source contributions in its open source Kubernetes and container space.
According to the company’s press release today,
We’re excited to bring the Kinvolk team and their technologies to Microsoft and look forward to the contributions they bring to Azure, our customers, and the open source community.
Adding Kinvolk to the company’s portfolio appears to pave the way for Microsoft to expand it’s open source efforts on it’s Azure platform. Kinvolk has already worked with Microsoft on the Service Mesh Interface and helping Microsoft to bring the Flatcar container to Azure, supporting the transition of Azure customers from Core OS to Flatcar and most recently enabling support for Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) with both Lokomotive and Inspector Gadget instruction set and debugging tools.
Kinvolk was founded in 2015 in Berlin, Germany and launched its Flatcar Container Linux in 2018.
The Kinvolk company blog also mirrored Microsoft’s announcement, as the company is looking forward to working closely with Redmond on it’s open source efforts for Azure customers. Nether Microsoft nor Kinvolk has mentioned transition details of employees and the acquisition amount. Microsoft has promised to provide more technical details.
Photography is not longer exclusive to those who own a camera. With the apparition of smartphones, everyone can take pictures of anything, anywhere, and anytime.
The growth of social media also urged people to take photos of their lives, minute details, and some glimpses into their day-by-day routines, what they eat, and what they do.
People take photos outside of social media as well. Content creators, for example, need photos for their content, and others take pictures to capture important moments in their lives.
For some, photography is a hobby or a job. All in all, taking photos has been normalized and assimilated by our society. It is mundane and natural, and we all do it.
Unfortunately, not all the pictures come out the way you want them to. Sometimes you get unwanted pictures, objects, or animals in your photos.
Many things put distance between yourself and a good picture. Perhaps something is blocking the view, the lighting isn’t good, or the sky is cloudy.
Fortunately, Avanquest developed inPixio Photo Studio 12, a photo editor that will allow you to express yourself truly.
The software has many cool features and tools that let you change your digital photos in almost any way imaginable. You can crop, cut, add filters, and so much more.
All you need to know about inPixio Photo Studio 12

Their photo editing software is comprehensive, intuitive, easy to use, and promotes limitless creativity in a very short time.
inPixio Photo Studio 12 is the latest iteration of one of the most popular photo editors on the market. The software allows you to cut and resize photos, crop people and objects, and even entire backgrounds.
Get rid of unwanted objects, people, or animals easily with this specialized software, remove red eyes, and make other minor tweaks to your image to make it look the way you want.
Additionally, Photo Studio allows you to create collages, and montages, and save them in the most popular image formats such as JPG, PNG, BMP, and many others.
NOTE
The system requirements for Photo Studio 12 are: – Windows 10, 8, 7 (64-bit) – Intel® Core™ i3 processor or equivalent – 8GB of RAM – 1.5GB free space – mouse and keyboard – internet connection
What’s new with inPixio Photo Studio 12?
The 12th version of the software is a great overhaul that starts with a complete revamp of the user interface. Now, you have all the editing tools right at your fingertips from the start.
Now, using inPixio Photo Studio 12 is as simple as dragging and dropping your shot into the designated area and selecting one of the actions. You can use one of the tools such as Remove Background, Replace Sky, Erase Objects, Make Photomontage, or Edit Photo.
Here are some of the improvements that Avanquest brought to the new inPixio Studio 12:
Improved Auto-Correction – Thanks to improved AI, the auto-correction tool is now even better at enhancing your photos in one click.
New Advanced print options – New print setup options include guides, orientation, resolution and placement adjustments, allowing you to get the perfect print format.
Improved Dual view – You can now see a before/after preview in the Erase, Sky and Background modules thanks to new dual views.
Let’s see exactly what this new version of the product has in store for you:
New all-in-one interface
Photo Studio is available entirely on one single software that includes all the modules, so you can enjoy editing photos without having to constantly switch between them.
While the previous version had an Easy mode, now, inPixio Photo Studio 12 doesn’t even need to mention such a mode because it’s easy to use right from the start. As we’ve mentioned above, all you need to do is upload one or more images and you’re up for editing.
Removing background with a single click
Clicking on Remove Background and selecting your photo is the easiest way to get your main objects even from a complicated image like the one we’ve created. It’s a one-click job and the embedded AI tool from inPixio Photo Studio 12 does the rest in only a couple of seconds.
And thanks to the new Dual view improvement we’ve mentioned above, now you can see the before and after preview. As you can see in the screenshot, the tool even handled the fluffy aspects of the puppy and kitty.
After removing the background, you can add your own or include one of the options readily available ones.
For that, you can just go to images and upload your background. We have selected one from inPixio’s Podium shots that simply make our heroes some kind of sci-fi-heroes from space. There are plenty of backgrounds to choose from and you can even blur the background instead of removing it.
Replacing the sky instantly
Sometimes, all you want is rainbows and butterflies. So, if your shot was ruined by a cloudy sky, or just want to make things more dramatic, the Replace Sky tool will take care of that by using the most capable AI feature.
Just like Remove Background, Replace Sky takes your photo, identifies the sky in your shot and allows you to replace it with a myriad of possible options, including your own, if you have any. However, there are so many sky images available in inPixio Photo Studio 12 that it’s nearly impossible not to find one that matches your needs.
You will find a lot of blue skies, stormy ones, sunsets and even rainbows, such as the one we’ve chosen above. Again, you will be able to see the before and after shots and see which one fits better before saving.
Removing unwanted objects like magic
Having unwanted objects in your photos is pretty common. Oftentimes, people try to take a picture of themselves and end up with a car or a stranger passing by in the background, ruining their photo.
Such problems are old news! Photo Studio can completely remove that ugly construction building, that old granny, or a random animal from your photo.
What’s even better is that you won’t even realize these things used to be in the picture after the program is done editing. The Remove Objects feature was also available in inPixio Photo Studio 11, but now, with version 12 it’s even easier than before.
Two bear plushies in our image were throwing some mean looks on our puppy and kitty and that was a huge mistake on their part. We selected the Erase Objects tool and our image, then hit the Auto Detection feature on the left.
The AI automatically detected all the objects in the image and with just two clicks, the culprit plushies were out of the picture. Literally! You can’t even see they were there in the After preview shot. Of course, the bear plushies were actually innocent but we can understand why you would like to remove the face of a distant relative who is ruining that perfect wedding shot.
The Erase Objects tool has many other features available such as cloning some objects and pasting them into the image or using a brush tool to select the objects which might not have been detected.
Creating a spectacular photomontage
Do you want to create an original Happy Birthday card for your loved ones? Or perhaps you want to prank them by making a fake magazine cover that will show their faces as stars? There are many options to do that and more with the Make Photomontage tool.
As with the other tools we’ve talked about above, you just need to select Make Photomontage and choose one of your images. Then, pick one of the many AI templates available.
Of course, you can create your own design from scratch. You can add titles and text boxes, add graphics and even in the More Items you will find lots of examples to choose from. The combinations are endless, just like your imagination.
Editing photos like a pro
We’ve left the Edit Photo feature at the end because it’s one of the richest. After all, inPixio Photo Studio 12 is a photo editing tool at its core.
Right off the bat, you will see the usual settings such as the basic adjustments (color saturation, exposure, clarity, contrast, etc.), sharpness options and noise reduction. However, there is also an Auto-Correction toggle button that uses AI to improve your image straight away. The option is remarkable if you want to better a lot of images and you don’t want to spend a lot of time on them.
However, you will find lots of pro options in the Adjustments, Sharpness and Noise reduction menus if you need them.
However, the real fun began for us in the Effects menu from the left. The Vigneting, Film grain and Graduated blur filters can really transform your photo into a piece of art by playing with the effect amounts. And don’t worry about ruining anything. All the changes can be reverted individually with an undo button.
You’re not a pro photo editor and don’t know how to fine tune the filters? No worries! That’s where the Creative menu is for. In the Luts menu under Creative you will find ready-made filters to play with.
Do you want a fashion filter, or perhaps a vintage one? You can literally find tens of filters to apply. And if that’s not enough, switch to the Texture filters below where you will find even more effects to sophisticate your shots.
How about a nice frame? It would be a nice graphics touch if you actually want to print your art piece and hang it on a wall or put it on a night stand. Just click on the Frames menu under the Creative tab and you will unveil a world of opportunities.
Classic frames, paint frames, or retros, you have plenty of options under each category and they all look amazing, complementing your photo.

Pros
Great UI
Easy to use
Beginner-friendly
Premium quality
Great AI
Frequent discounts
Cons
The background removal feature needs some tweaking
There are many photo editors on the market, and we could even go as far as to say that the market is oversaturated with them, but not everything is premium quality.
Surely, you can buy cheaper or even get free photo editors, but most of the time, they are limited or do a poor job, and nobody wants bad photos.
inPixio Photo Studio 12 is worth every penny since its tools and algorithms are accurate in their editing. The software is well-made, full of customization options, and constantly updated.

There is so much more to Windows 10 than Microsoft Edge and Cortana. While it’s true that you may have to dig around the internet to find other worthwhile applications, there’s no doubt some of the best apps reside in the Microsoft Store.
And if you are looking for the best songbook apps for Windows PC, then Microsoft’s store has got them all for you on top of third-party sources. Here they are.
What are the best songbook apps for Windows 10?
SongBook by LinkeSOFT
The SongBook app is great for professional and amateur musicians alike. The program handles your song collections with lyrics and chords. You can view any chord variants by tapping on any chord name.
The app includes a vast array of chord libraries for many instruments such as guitar, ukulele, banjo and piano. It is optimized for use with keyboard and mouse.
On Windows 10, touch-enabled tablets, use the Windows Store app SongBook for Windows Tablets instead. Its features include:
Song List
The program groups songs in categories that work like folders on your PC and lets you organize songs by genre, tags, or level of difficulty.
Deleting a category also removes all the songs in it. You can search titles by entering a letter, which will display the titles starting with that letter, and pressing Ctrl+Space will mark songs you’ve already played.
Marked songs are then shown in grey across the board. Closing the app, however, removes the mark.
Song View
This feature displays the current song with lyrics and chords. You can look up chord definitions by clicking on a chord and change chords, lyrics and tab font and color by going to Tools>Options>View.
Pressing Ctrl +/- or Ctrl+Mouse Wheel to increase or decrease the font size. The app also displays the song in the largest font size possible when you go to View>Zoom>Auto-Zoom. To revert back to normal font size, select View>Zoom>Normal.
You can go to View>All Song Chords to view all chords that show up in the current song. The app initially displays the most simple fingering of a chord.
You can cycle through all definitions by clicking on a chord. Go to View>Hide Chords or View>Hide Lyrics, respectively, to switch off display of chords or lyrics.
Full-Screen Mode
SongBook also displays a song in full-screen mode to maximize screen real-estate, hiding the menu and toolbar. You can also hide the song list to the left by pressing Ctrl+L. Type ESC to switch off full-screen mode.
Auto-Scrolling
Press View>Auto-Scroll or press key F5 or use the Play button in the toolbar to start automatic scrolling. Use the Save button in the auto-scroll popup to save the current tempo in the song. The tempo will be preset the next time you select the song.
You can optionally insert {pause: x} directives somewhere in a song, where x denotes a pause in seconds (e.g. {pause: 20} to pause for 20 seconds).
Auto-scrolling will pause for a certain amount of time when the line with this pause statement reaches the top of the screen.
Auto-scrolling also halts the Windows screensaver. You can also put that directive at the top of the song to delay the auto-scroll start.
Transposing
The app allows you to transpose a song to another key through Tools>Transpose or the transpose buttons on the toolbar.
You can convert all # chords to their b equivalent or vice versa using the “All b” and “All #” menus. However, the transposition is only temporary. For a permanent change of tune, select menu Tools>Transpose>Save Transposed.
You can also define a fret for a capo by selecting Tools>Transpose>Capo. However, if the song contains special chord definitions, these will usually no longer be valid after transposing.
Link with Music
SongBook also lets you copy a music file into the SongBook directory and link to it using menu Tools>Music>Link. This will allow users to play along with background music. Select Tools>Play Music to play the linked music with a built-in mini music player.
You can alternatively insert a link to an arbitrary file into the song by dragging the file from Explorer into the song editor and then clicking the link to open the associated program.
Song Edit
SongBook includes the ability to edit songs or add new songs. Go to Edit>Chordpro menu to enter the most common chordpro control statements. It will also display the keyboard shortcuts for faster input.
When you’ve selected some text, the chordpro control statement (e.g. [] or {c: }) will be inserted around the selection. To move a chord definition like [Am] to a different text position, double-click on it to select it, then cut/paste it at the new position. Use Copy Chords/Insert Chords from the context menu to apply chords from one verse to another.
You can also convert the current song or selected text from tab format to the compact chordpro format by selecting Edit>Chordpro>Convert Tab To Chordpro.
Tags
Another way to organize your song collection is by assigning arbitrary tags to any song. You can filter songs by tag by clicking the Tags button in the main song list screen.
When you remove a tag, the song is not deleted. Unlike with categories, songs can have several tags assigned. In the song, tags are stored with a {tag: xx} directive.
Playlists
Playlists contain references to songs by title/subtitle, independent of their category. The app lets you add songs to multiple playlists, and one song can occur multiple times in one playlist.
The playlist dropdown box will display the number of songs in that playlist in parentheses. You can right-click on a song in a list and select Add to Playlist.
To add multiple songs at once, select them with Shift or Ctrl+Mouse-Click before you choose Add to Playlist. To create a new playlist, right-click on a song in the song list and select Add to Playlist>New Playlist.
Select Move Up/Move Down from the context menu to change the order of songs in a playlist. To remove a song from a playlist, right-click on the song in the playlist and select Remove.
Chords and Instruments
SongBook includes a comprehensive chord libraries for guitar, ukulele (C and D tuning), mandolin, piano and others. Select a chord in a song or select Tools>Chords to see the chord view.
Chords are grouped by base pitch (tone) and name. Each chord can have several variations. SongBook knows about identical pitches (e.g. C# = Db).
You can add your own chords (File – New Chord…) or change existing chord definitions by clicking on it.
Right-click on a chord to search for identical chords (with different names) or to add this specific chord definition to the song.
To remove a custom chord from the database, click on it to edit and select Remove. Select an instrument from the Instruments menu to change the currently used instrument.
Chord Edit
The app also lets you change any chord in the chord database. Select the base fret in the dropdown to the right, then click on the finger boxes. If a string produces no sound, select the x above the string.
The added chords are saved in a file <instrument>.chords.txt in the documents folder. You can edit it with a text editor.
Keeping a large music folder can take its toll on your PC memory. Thanks to apps like Chordle, you can get rid of that burden. Chordle is a songbook management program that does a lot of things.
For example, it can transpose chords for your songs as you play them, create and share set lists, display capped chords when you’re playing with guitarists or uncapped chords for other band members.
